Ausgangssituation

3 Partner:

• Institut für Neuzeit- und Zeitgeschichtsforschung/ÖBL• Austrian Center for Digital Humanities (ACDH)• Institut für Stadt- und Regionalforschung (ISR)

Datengrundlage: „Österreichisches Biographisches Lexikon 1815-1950“

• ca. 18.000 digitalisierte Artikel• online abrufbar unter www.biographien.ac.at und www.biographie-portal.eu• gleichbleibende Grundstruktur der Biographien und hohe Informationsdichte• über Normdaten vernetzbar (z.B. GND, VIAF)

umfassende Datenbank und XML-Exportschnittstelle verfügbar

Projektinhalte

Aufgaben:

• implizite Informationen in explizit abfragbare Daten (maschinenlesbar) umwandeln• punktuelle Erweiterung und Ergänzung des Datenmaterials• Granulierung: hochgradig differenzierte Strukturierung der Daten• Extraktion spezifischer Daten zur statistischen Auswertung

Ziele:

• Entwicklung spezifischer Abfragemöglichkeiten und Analysewerkzeuge• Visualisierung der Suchergebnisse• Abbildung von Personennetzwerken, Bewegungsprofilen usw.

Ausgangsbasis für Forschungsfragen des Instituts für Stadt- und Regionalforschung

Forschungsfragen

Zentrale Fragen der Migrationsforschung:

- Geographische Rekonstruktion der Wanderungsmuster - Demographische Analyse der Elitenwanderer

Weitere Fragestellungen:

• Eignung von Nationalbiographien als grundlegende Datenbasis für sozialgeschichtliche Forschungsfragen? Schlussfolgerungen für künftige biographisch-lexikalische Forschungen

• Schließung von Informationslücken durch konsequente Vernetzung mit externen Online-Quellen über Normdaten? Schlussfolgerungen für künftige Methoden und Arbeitsprozesse des ÖBL

Projektergebnisse und MehrwertINZ/ÖBL:• Publikation in der Linked Open Data Cloud (maximale Zugänglichkeit und Verbreitung)• weitreichende Recherchemöglichkeiten und Visualisierungen der Daten• Erkenntnisse für künftige biographische Forschungsmethoden und Arbeitsprozesse

ACDH:• Weiterentwicklung/Verbesserung von Ontologien für biographisch-lexikalische Daten• vertiefende Erfahrungen bei Normdatenvernetzung und Informationsanreicherung• innovative Methoden für historische Netzwerkanalysen
