UVODNIK

Spotovani bralci, dragi ljubiteljipotnih znamk,

pred nami je majski izid slovenskihpotnih znamk, ki je e posebejpester in bogat.

Prav gotovo je posebna novica,da smo e pred rednim majskimzidom, natanneje 6. maja 2016,zdali znamko z motivom velikega

slovenskega ampiona, slovenskegaorla in ponosa Slovenije, dobitnikavelikega kristalnega globusav smuarskih skokih, malegakristalnega globusa v smuarskihpoletih ter zmagovalca novoletneskakalne turneje. Peter Prevcje,verjamem, ime, ki ga poznate domalavsi, ter portnik, ki je ime Slovenijeponesel v svet.

Kot zanimivost majskega izida veljazpostaviti skupno izdajo s potnim

operaterjem Rusije. Z izdajo znamkebomo poastili 100-letnico Ruskekapelice pod Vriem.

V majskem izidu prav tako ne spreglejte

znamke v bloku, izdane ob 25-letnicisamostojne Republike Slovenije.

Tudi letos bo 9. julijaizla znamkav seriji Euromed Postal, za konecpa vas elim seznaniti s e enimzrednim izidom znamke, in sicer v

poastitev 150. obletnice bitke priVisu. Znamko bomo skupaj s Hrvakozdali 18. julija.

Ponovno vam elim velikozadovoljstva ob spremljanjuslovenskih potnih znamk indopolnjevanju vaih osebnih zbirk!

Sehr geehrte Bulletin-Leser, liebeBriefmarkenliebhaber,

vor Ihnen liegt die Maiausgabeder slowenischen Briefmarken, diebesonders vielfltig und inhaltsreich ist.

Eine besonders erfreuliche Nachrichtist sicherlich, dass wir noch vorder regelmigen Maiausgabe,genauer gesagt am 6. Mai 2016,eine Briefmarke mit dem Motiv desgroen slowenischen Champions,des slowenischen Adlers und

Stolzes des ganzen Landes, desGewinners der groen Kristallkugel imSkispringen, der kleinen Kristallkugelim Skiiegen sowie des Gewinners derVierschanzentournee herausgebenwerden. Peter Prevcist ein Name, denfast jeder kennt, und ein Sportler, derden Namen Sloweniens in die Welthinausgetragen hat.

Als Besonderheit der Maiausgabegilt es auch die gemeinsameBriefmarkenausgabe mit demrussischen Postunternehmenhervorzuheben. Mit derBriefmarkenausgabe feiern wir den100. Jahrestag der Russischen Kapelleam Fue des Vri-Passes.

Dear readers and postage stamp enthusiasts,

The May issue of Slovene postage stamps is here evenricher and more varied than usual.

One special piece of news is that even before the regularMay issue, on 6 May 2016to be precise, we issued a stampfeaturing a great Slovene champion. Peter Prevc Sloveneeagle and pride of Slovenia, winner of the big crystal globefor ski jumping and the small crystal globe for ski ying,winner of this years Four Hills Tournament is a namethat is probably familiar to everyone: that of an athlete whohas carried the name of Slovenia around the world.

An interesting feature of the May issue worth highlightingis thejoint issue with the national postal operator ofRussia. This stamp will honour the centenary of theRussian chapel below Vri.

This years new stamp in the Euromed Postalseries will beissued on 9 July. Finally, I would like to draw your attentionto one more notable issue: a stamp commemorating the150thAnniversary of the Battle of Lissa. This stamp willappear as a joint issue with Croatia on 18 July.

Once again I wish you much enjoyment as you keep upto date with Slovenias new postage stamps and build upyour own collections!

Having stood on the top step of the podium seven times inprevious years, at World Championships, Winter Olympicsand World Cup events, last winter season PETER PREVClaid down new milestones in ski jumping and ski ying.

His achievements: world champion in ski ying, winnerof the 64thFour Hills Tournament, winner of the Ski FlyingWorld Cup and winner of the Ski Jumping World Cup witha record 15 victories and a total of 2,303 points!

But PETER PREVCs achievements also go beyond theworld of sport: he is a well-rounded personality whosepublic image is an example to all generations, at homeand around the world, of how athletes and people ingeneral should carry themselves.

Skiing and ski jumping have a long tradition in Slovenia.

Planica is the cradle of ski jumping and ski ying. With itsnew Nordic Centre, crowned by this years nal event, towhich PETER PREVC contributed an important share, ithas laid down a historic milestone of global dimensionsand brought glory to ski jumping and to Slovenia.

Zelena olna (Picus viridis)S svojimi 30 do 33 cm je med naimi najvejimipredstavniki druine oln. Prebiva v bolj odprtih predelih zgozdiki, najraje v starih sadovnjakih. V duplu znese na golodno pet do sedem jajc. Med uelkami, s katerimi se hrani,daje prednost mravljam, zato se veliko zadruje na tleh, kjer

h lovi s svojim izjemno dolgim jezikom. Pri nas je irokoazirjena in pogosta celoletna vrsta.

Srenar (Pernis apivorus)Predstavnik druine orlov, ki s svojimi 50 do 58 cm dolinedosega velikost kanje, od katere je vitkeji. Njegov ivljenjskiprostor so odprti listnati in meani gozdovi, ki mejijo napanike in senoeti. Gnezdo naredi obiajno visoko nadrevju, pogosto zasede opueno gnezdo drugih ptiev.

Samica znese est do desetajc, za mladie skrbita oba stara. Njegova hrana soastlinski popki, poganjki in razna semena. Je naa dokajazirjena vrsta po vseh hribovitih obmojih.

Birds of Slovenia

European green woodpecker (Picus viridis)This is one of the largest members of the woodpeckerfamily, growing to a length of 3033 cm. Its habitatconsists of open areas with some trees, preferably oldorchards. The female lays clutches of ve to seven eggs inunlined tree cavities. It feeds on insects, especially ants,and therefore spends a lot of time on the ground huntingfood with the help of its remarkably long tongue. It is awidely distributed species in Slovenia and a commonspecies throughout the year.

European honey buzzard (Pernis apivorus)A member of the eagle family, the European honeybuzzard grows to the size of the common buzzard (alength of 5058 cm) but is more slender. It lives in opendeciduous and mixed woodland bordering pasturesand meadows. It usually builds its nest high in a treeand will frequently occupy the abandoned nest of otherbirds. The female lays one clutch of one to three eggs. Itfeeds on wasp larvae, adult wasps and bees, and also onamphibians and birds. The European honey buzzard isa summer species that migrates via Gibraltar, Sicily and

the Bosporus to southern Africa. It is a relatively commonnesting species in Slovenia.

Hazel grouse (Tetrastes bonasia)The hazel grouse is one of the smaller members of thegrouse family, growing to a length of 3537 cm. It lives inconiferous and mixed forests with some undergrowth and,unlike the other members of the family, remains withina very small area, of just a few hundred square metres,throughout the year. It lives in pairs and is very shy, andtherefore dicult to observe. The female lays clutchesof six to ten eggs and both parents care for the chicks.The hazel grouse feeds on a variety of plant food (buds,shoots and seeds). It is relatively widely distributed inSlovenia and is found in all mountainous areas.

Grnspecht (Picus viridis)Mit einer Krperlnge von 30 bis 33 cmgehrt er zu den grten Vertreternaus der Familie der Spechte. SeinLebensraum sind offene Landschaftenmit kleinen Wldern, am liebsten mag eralte Obstgrten. In kahle Baumhhlenlegt das Weibchen fnf bis siebenEier. Unter den Insekten, mit denener sich ernhrt, hat er eine Vorliebefr Ameisen, daher hlt er sich vielam Boden auf, wo er die Ameisen mitseiner extrem langen Zunge fngt. InSlowenien ist der Grnspecht eine weitverbreitete und huge Standvogelart.

Wespenbussard (Pernis apivorus)Ein Vertreter aus der Familie derHabichtartigen, der mit einerKrperlnge von 50 bis 58 cm dieGre eines Bussards erreicht, jedochschlanker ist. Sein Lebensraum sindoffene Laub- und Mischwlder, diean Weiden und Bergwiesen grenzen.Sein Nest baut er gewhnlich hochin den Baumkronen, hug besetzt erverlassene Nester anderer Vogelarten.Er brtet einmal pro Jahr und legtein bis drei Eier. Er ernhrt sichvon Wespenbrut, ausgewachsenenWespen und Bienen, von Amphibienund Vgeln. Der Wespenbussardist eine Sommervogelart, die berGibraltar, Sizilien und den Bosporusbis nach Sdafrika zieht. In Slowenienist der Wespenbussard ein hug

vorkommender Brutvogel.

Haselhuhn (Tetrastes bonasia)Das Haselhuhn ist mit einerKrperlnge von 35 bis 37 cm einerder kleinsten Vertreter der Familie derGlattfuhhner (Fasanenartigen). Eslebt in Nadel- und Mischwldern mitein wenig Unterholz und hlt sich imVergleich zu den anderen Vertretern derFamilie das ganze Jahr ber auf sehrkleinem Gebiet auf, das nur wenige100 Quadratmeter gro ist. Es lebt inPaaren, gut getarnt und nur schwer

17. svetovni ipkarski kongres

Junija 2016 bo Slovenija gostila 17. svetovni ipkarskikongres Mednarodne organizacije za klekljano inivano ipko OIDFA. Kongres organizacije, ki zdruujeve kot 2.300 lanov iz 37 drav sveta, je najveja innajpomembneja ipkarska prireditev na svetu.

Pota Slovenije bo dogodek obeleila s prilonostnopotno znamko, ovitkom in igom prvega dne. Naznamki je upodobljena ipka z bogatim cvetlino-sadnimmotivom, znailnim za zaetek 20. stoletja. Osnutek zanjo

je narisal slovenski slikar Saa antel za Dravni osrednjizavod za ensko domao obrt v Ljubljani. ipko je izdelalamojstrica klekljanja Iva Soboan iz irov. Na znamki jeupodobljena polovica ipke, vendar s sestavljanjem dvehznamk dobimo celoten motiv. Gre za prvo slovenskoznamko v obrnjenem sotisku (tte-bche). V igu prvegadne so upodobljeni par klekljev in ivanka, orodja, ki jihipkarice uporabljajo za izdelavo klekljane oz. ivaneipke. Motiv na ovitku prvega dne prikazuje klekljanje kotnajbolj pogost nain izdelovanja ipk v Sloveniji.

Slovenija ima bogato ipkarsko zgodovino, ki sega

v 17. stoletje. Danes velja izdelovanje ipk za enonajbolj razirjenih umetnostnih obrti v Sloveniji, sajjo gojijo v kar 109 drutvih in skupinah v 84 krajihpo vsej dravi. Kongresna znamka je zato tudi poklonslovenskemu ipkarstvu.

Kongresu se z akcijo Po sledeh ipke v Slovenijipridruuje Filatelistina zveza Slovenije skupaj zdrutvi, ki bodo ob ipkarskih razstavah pripravili tudilatelistine razstave in prilonostne ige, organiziralipa bodo tudi prenos pote ob petdnevni pokongresniekskurziji po Sloveniji.

17. SVETOVNIIPKARSKI KONGRES

Rdeeglavi kraljiek (Regulus ignicapilla)Eden od dveh pri nas iveih predstavnikov druinekraljikov, ki je dolg od 8,5 do 9 cm, telesna masa pa ni nikaj dosti ve kot 5,5 grama. Naseljuje iglaste in meanegozdove, kjer na drevju med iglicami in listi neutrudno iedrobne uelke. Visoko na drevesu naredi skodeliastognezdo, kamor znese sedem do enajst jajc. Ima dva zaroda.Pri nas je dokaj pogosta poletna vrsta, v junejih predelihposamezni prezimujejo.

ebelar (Merops apiaster)udovito obarvan predstavnik druine legatov, njegovadolina je od 27 do 29 cm. ivi v odprtih predelih, kjer imana razpolago ilovnate ali peene stene, da lahko izkopljegnezdilni rov. Gnezdi kolonijsko. Znese tiri do sedem jajc,oba stara valita in skrbita za mladie. ebelar v zraku loviveje uelke, kot so kaji pastirji, pa tudi ebele. Je poletnavrsta in se jeseni odseli. Pri nas je zelo redek gnezdilec.

Common recrest (Regulus ignicapilla)One of two members of the kinglet family found in Slovenia,he common recrest grows to a length of 8.59 cm and

weighs barely more than 5.5 g. Its habitat consists ofconiferous and mixed forest, where it tirelessly hunts tinynsects among the needles and leaves of trees. It builds

a bowl-shaped nest high up in a tree, where the femaleays between seven and eleven eggs. Each female layswo clutches. A relatively common summer species in

Slovenia, individual specimens also remain over the wintern southern areas.

European bee-eater (Merops apiaster)This wonderfully coloured member of the bee-eater familygrows to a length of 2729 cm. Its preferred habitat isopen areas with clayey or sandy cliffs in which to dig abreeding burrow. The European bee-eater nests in colonies.The female lays clutches of four to seven eggs and bothparents incubate and care for the chicks. Bee-eaters areaerial hunters of prey consisting of the larger insects,such as dragonies, and also bees. This summer speciesmigrates south in autumn. It is a very rare nesting speciesn Slovenia.

Hoch oben in den Baumkronenbaut es ein schalenartiges Nest, indem es sieben bis elf Eier legt. DasSommergoldhhnchen brtet zweimalpro Jahr. In Slowenien ist es eineziemlich huge Sommervogelart, inden sdlicheren Regionen berwinterneinige Exemplare sogar.

Bienenfresser (Merops apiaster)

Der farbenprchtige Vertreter ausder Familie der gleichnamigenBienenfresser (Meropidae) hat eineKrperlnge von 27 bis 29 cm. SeinLebensraum sind offene Landschaftenmit Lehm- oder Sandwnden, in denen

er seine Bruthhlen eingraben kann. Erist ein Koloniebrter. Das Weibchen legtvier bis sieben Eier, beide Elterntierebrten und sorgen fr die Jungvgel.Der Bienenfresser erbeutet im Fluggrere Insekten wie Libellen oderBienen. Er ist eine Sommervogelartund zieht im Herbst in den Sden. InSlowenien ist der Bienenfresser einsehr seltener Brutvogel.

17thWorld Lace Congress

In June 2016 Slovenia will host the 17thWorld Lace Congressof the International Bobbin and Needle Lace Organisation(OIDFA), which brings together more than 2300 membersfrom 37 different countries. The World Lace Congress is thebiggest and most important lacemaking event in the world.

Pota Slovenije will mark this important event with a specialpostage stamp, a rst-day cover and a rst-day postmark.The stamp features a piece of lace of a rich oral/fruitdesign typical of the early twentieth century. The patternwas drawn by the Slovene painter Saa antel for the StateCentral Institute for Womens Handicrafts in Ljubljana. Thelace was made by the expert lacemaker Iva Soboan of iri.The stamp shows half a piece of lace, but by putting twostamps together the complete design is revealed. This isthe rst Slovene stamp to be made using the tte-bche(head-to-tail) technique. The rst-day postmark shows a pairof bobbins and a needle the tools the lacemakers use tomake, respectively, bobbin lace and needle lace. The rst-day cover shows bobbin lace making, the most commonmethod of lacemaking in Slovenia.

Slovenia has a rich lacemaking history dating back to theseventeenth century. Lacemaking is today one of the mostwidespread crafts in Slovenia, practised by 109 societiesand clubs in 84 locations across the country. The specialCongress stamp also honours Slovene lacemaking.

The campaign On the trail of lace in Slovenia will seethe Slovenian Philatelic Association (FZS) take part inthe Congress together with various clubs and societiesand prepare philatelic exhibitions alongside the laceexhibitions, create special postmarks and organise thedelivery of post along the route of the ve-day tour ofSlovenia that follows the Congress.

17. Weltkongressder Spitzenklppelei

Im Juni 2016 ndet in Slowenien der 17.Weltkongress der Spitzenklppelei derOIDFA, des Weltverbands fr Klppel-und Nadelspitze, statt. Der Kongressder Organisation, die mehr als 2300Mitglieder aus 37 Lndern der Weltvereint, ist das grte und bedeutendsteKlppelevent der Welt.

Die Slowenische Post feiert dasEreignis mit einer Sonderbriefmarke,einem Ersttagsbrief und einemErsttagsstempel. Auf der Briefmarke isteine Spitze mit reichem Blumen- undObstmotiv abgebildet, das typischfr die Epoche am Anfang des 20.Jahrhunderts war. Den Entwurf dafr

gestaltete der slowenische Maler Saaantel fr das Nationale Zentralamtfr Frauenhandwerk in Ljubljana. DieSpitze wurde von der KlppelmeisterinIva Soboan aus iri angefertigt. Aufder Briefmarke ist die Hlfte der Spitzedargestellt mit dem Zusammenlegenzweier Briefmarken erhlt man dasGesamtmotiv. Dies ist die ersteslowenische Briefmarke im Kehrdruck(Tte-bche). Im Ersttagsstempelsind ein Paar Klppel und eine Nadelabgebildet. Das sind Werkzeuge, die dieSpitzenklpplerinnen bei der Fertigungvon Klppel- oder Nadelspitze bentigen.Das Motiv auf dem Ersttagsbrief zeigtdie Spitzenklppelei als hugste Art derFertigung von Spitzen in Slowenien.

Slowenien hat eine lange Geschichteder Spitzenklppelei, die bis ins 17.Jahrhundert zurckreicht. Heute ist dieHerstellung von Spitzen eines der amstrksten verbreiteten Kunsthandwerkein Slowenien, das von gar 109 Vereinenund Gruppen in 84 Ortschaften imganzen Land gepegt wird. Die

Kongressbriefmarke ist deshalb aucheine Ehrerbietung an die slowenischeSpitzenklppelei.

Mit der Aktion Auf den Spuren der Spitzein Slowenien schliet sich dem Kongressder Slowenische Philatelieverband (FZS)gemeinsam mit den Vereinen an, die beiden Ausstellungen der Spitzenklppeleiauch philatelistische Ausstellungen undSonderstempel vorbereiten werden undzudem noch den Posttransfer bei derfnftgigen Exkursion durch Sloweniennach dem Kongress organisieren.

Kingdom of Illyria

The Kingdom of Illyria was an important state entityfounded in 1816 following the dissolution of the(Napoleonic) Illyrian Provinces and functioning as atransitional administrative entity until incorporationinto the new administrative system of the AustrianEmpire. The Kingdom of Illyria was last mentioned in1849 as a crown land consisting of Carniola, Carinthia,the county of Gorizia, Trieste and Istria. The process offormation of the Kingdom of Illyria, which was actuallydivided into two administrative districts with centres inTrieste and Ljubljana, saw the active participation of theSlovene philologist Jernej Kopitar and Baron Sigmund

Zois, a patron of the arts, who worked closely with theAustrian chancellor Klemens Wenzel von Metternich.The decision of Emperor Francis I of Austria ran contraryto Metternichs plans to strengthen individual provincialautonomies and was instead aimed at centralisation ofthe Empire. Despite this, the state entity had an importantfunction in the administrative arrangements of part ofthe Slovene lands following the Napoleonic Wars andthe Illyrian Provinces, while from the point of view of theecclesiastical order it should also be pointed out that theArchbishop of Gorizia became the Metropolitan of Illyriaduring the period of the Kingdom of Illyria.

Das Knigreich Illyrien war einbedeutendes Staatsgebilde,das 1816 nach dem Zerfall derIllyrischen Provinzen als einstweiligeVerwaltungsform bis zur neuenVerwaltungsregelung des Kaisertumssterreich entstanden war. DasKnigreich Illyrien wurde 1849 alsKronland erwhnt, das aus Krain,Krnten, Grz, Triest und Istrienbestand. In den Prozess der Bildungdes Knigreichs Illyriens, das auf zweiGubernien (Verwaltungseinheiten)mit Zentrum in Triest und L jubljanaaufgeteilt war, hatten sich auch derslowenische Slawist Jernej Kopitarund der Mzen Baron Sigmund Zoistatkrftig eingebracht, die eng mitdem Kanzler Klemens Wenzel vonMetternich zusammenarbeiteten.Die Entscheidung des damaligensterreichischen Kaisers Franz I.war zwar nicht mit den PlnenMetternichs konform, die Autonomieder einzelnen Lnder zu strken,sondern war auf die Zentralisierungdes Kaisertums gerichtet. Trotzdemist das Staatsgebilde wichtigfr die Verwaltungsregelung derslowenischen Lnder nach denNapoleonischen Kriegen und den

Illyrischen Provinzen. Vom Standpunktder Kirchenverwaltung ist auchhervorzuheben, dass zu Zeiten desKnigreichs Illyrien der Erzbischofvon Grz zum Metropoliten vonIllyrien wurde.

Ilirsko kraljestvo je bilo sestavljeno iz Kranjske,Koroke, Gorike, Trsta in Istre. V proces oblikovanjalirskega kraljestva, ki je bilo sicer razdeljeno na dva

gubernija s srediema v Trstu in Ljubljani, sta se dejavno

vkljuila tudi slovenski slavist Jernej Kopitar in mecenbaron iga Zois, ki sta tesno sodelovala s kanclerjemKlemensom Wenzlom von Metternichom. Odloitevedanjega avstrijskega cesarja Franca I. sicer ni bila skladna

z narti Metternicha, da bi utrdil posamezne deelneavtonomije, temve je bila reitev usmerjena v centralizacijocesarstva, kljub temu pa je dravna tvorba pomembna zaupravno ureditev dela slovenskih deel po Napoleonovihvojnah in Ilirskih provincah, z vidika cerkvene ureditve pa jepomembno poudariti tudi, da je v asu Ilirskega kraljestvagoriki nadkof postal metropolit Ilirije.

Different Types of Watermill

Given the large number of rivers and streams in Slovenia, itis no surprise that the millers trade should have ourishedfor centuries. Grain was ground between millstones intovarious grades of our and husked using a system ofwooden pestles. As well as the larger commercial mills,domestic mills could be found on many farms. In both casesthe mills represented a form of service activity connectedwith basic food supply needs. Several basic types of

watermill (or water-driven mill) are known, and these areshown on the stamps in this issue.

Veliko posebnost predstavlja edini v Sloveniji ohranjenplavajoi mlinna reki Muri, in sicer v Iakovcih. Plavajoimlini, pri katerih sta mlinska stavba in mlinsko kolo na vodioz. reki, sodijo med zelo stare tipe mlinov, saj so ohranjenaprievanja e iz starega Rima. Delovali so predvsem naistih rekah, ki so mono spreminjale svoj tok, in sicer tako v

vertikalni kot horizontalni smeri.

Tip znailnega manjega kmekega mlina z enim paromkamnov predstavlja agerski mlin v dolini PodvolovljekpriLuah, ki ga poganja t. i. zgornja voda izhribovskega potoka.

zraziteji primer manjega obrtnega mlina, ki e vednomelje za stranke, je Sorev mlin v Polah pri Novi Cerkvi.Ker je vodni tok dovolj moan, je pogon tega mlina urejen naspodnjo vodo. Poleg mlina je tudi aga z velikim lesenim

pogonskim kolesom. Prav ta simbioza mlina in age jedokaj pogosta zasnova vodnih pogonov v Sloveniji.

The only surviving oating mill in Slovenia, on the riverMura at Iakovci, is an example of a particularly interestingype of mill. Floating mills, where the mill structure and mill

wheel are on a oating platform in a river, are among thevery oldest types of mills, whose use was rst recorded inAncient Roman times. They were mainly used on rivers withsignicant changes in ow and the mechanisms could beboth vertical and horizontal.

An example of a typical small rural mill with a single pair ofmillstones is the ager Mill in the Podvolovljek valleynearLue, with an overshot water wheel driven by a streamowing down the hill.

A more distinctive example of a small commercial mill thatstill grinds grain for customers is the Sor Mill at Polenear Nova Cerkev. Since the ow of the water is sucientlystrong here, the wheel of t his mill is of the undershot type.A sawmill with a large wooden drive wheel stands next tohe mill. This symbiosis of mill and sawmill is a relativelyrequent concept in water-powered milling in Slovenia.

Eine groe Besonderheit ist dieeinzige in Slowenien erhalteneSchiffsmhle auf der Mur, dieschwimmende Mhlein Iakovci.Die Schiffsmhlen, die aus einemMhlenhaus und einem Mhlrad aufdem Wasser bzw. dem Fluss bestehen,gehren zu den sehr alten Bauweisenvon Mhlen, was erhaltene Zeugnisseaus dem alten Rom beweisen. Siestanden vor allem an Flssen mitstark schwankendem Wasserlauf, undzwar sowohl in vertikaler als auchhorizontaler Richtung.

Die typische kleine Bauernmhle miteinem Mhlsteinpaar ist die Mhleagerski mlin im Podvolovljek-Talbei Lue, die vom sogenanntenOberwasser eines Bergbachsangetrieben wird.

Ein anschaulicheres Beispiel einerkleinen Gewerbemhle, die nochimmer in Betrieb ist, ist die MhleSorev mlin in Polebei Nova Cerkva.Da der Wasserlauf stark genug ist,wird diese Mhle mit Unterwasserangetrieben. Neben der Mhle stehtauch eine Sge mit groem hlzernemAntriebsrad. Gerade diese Symbioseaus Mhle und Sge ist eine ziemlichhuge Grundlage fr Wasserantriebein Slowenien.

Veji obrtniki mlin z ve pari kamnov in ve pogonskimikolesi na spodnjo vodo je Modrijanov mlin predPostojnsko jamo, ki je v asu delovanja izkorial vejekoliine vodne sile. Danes je urejen za turistine oglede indopolnjuje ponudbo Postojnske jame.

Tehnoloko najmlaji pa je Ferleev mlin v ibenikuprientjurju, ki je znailen predstavnik sodobnejih valjnihmlinov. Poganja ga voda, mlinske kamne pa so zamenjalihitro vrtei se kovinski valji, med katerimi se melje moka.Tudi celoten mlevski proces je popolnoma drugaen kot priklasinih mlinih z mlinskimi kamni. To pa ima za posledicoudi drugane kakovosti moke iz zmletih it.

100-letnica Ruske kapelice pod Vriem

Mednarodni latelistini projekt soasne izdaje spominskeznamke v Sloveniji in Rusiji ob stoletnici izgradnje Ruskekapelice pod Vriem bo vsebinsko dopolnil in obogatilletonjo tradicionalno slovesnost ob tem jubileju.

Leseno kapelico so zgradili med prvo svetovno vojnoruski vojni ujetniki, ki jih je avstro-ogrska vojska pripeljalaleta 1915 z vzhodnega bojia, da bi hitro zgradili cestnopovezavo ez 1615 metrov visok prelaz Vri do novegabojia, ki je nastalo v dolini reke Soe, ko je Italijanenadoma zaradi obljubljenih ozemelj (Trsta z okolico,Istre in dela Dalmacije ) prestopila na stran antante innapovedala vojno dotedanji zaveznici Avstriji.

Avstrijci so pripeljali okoli 12 000 ruskih vojnih ujetnikov(seveda so bili med njimi poleg ruskih tudi vojaki drugihnacionalnosti tedanje carske vojske). Bili so nastanjeniv primitivnih, pozimi mrzlih barakah na ve lokacijah odKranjske Gore do doline Trente. Bili so slabo obleeni,hrane je bilo ob tekem delu premalo, razsajale so hudebolezni, kot so gria, rne koze in celo kolera, mnogo je bilonesre pri delu, in kot da vseh teh nesre e ni bilo dovolj,sta se v hudi zimi marca 1916 sproila e dva uniujoasnena plazova izpod gore Mojstrovke, ki sta pokopala vesto ujetnikov in nekaj njihovih straarjev.Po ocenah je pri gradnji te ceste umrlo nekaj tiso mladihruskih fantov, ki sedaj e sto let poivajo dale od doma, vslovenski zemlji, ob cesti, ki jo je Vlada Republike Slovenijeleta 2006 upravieno poimenovala RUSKA CESTA.

Centenary of the Russian Chapel below Vri

An international philatelic project involving the simultaneousissue of a commemorative stamp in Slovenia and Russia to markthe centenary of the building of the Russian chapel below Vriwill this year complement and enrich the ceremony traditionallyheld on the anniversary of this event.

The wooden chapel was built during the First World War byRussian POWs transported here from the Eastern Front in 1915 bythe Austro-Hungarian army in order to quickly build a road overthe Vri pass (1,615 m) to the new front line that formed in theSoa (Isonzo) Valley following Italys sudden switch to the Ententeside and declaration of war on its former ally Austria in exchangefor promised territorial gains (Trieste and the surrounding area,Istria and part of Dalmatia).The Austrians transported around 12,000 Russian POWs to thearea (this number almost certainly included soldiers of othernationalities serving in the Imperial Russian army). They wereaccommodated in primitive barracks, freezing cold in winter, inseveral locations from Kranjska Gora to the Trenta valley. Theywere poorly clothed and underfed, given the heavy work theywere required to do. Disease was rife (dysentery, smallpox andeven cholera) and there were many accidents. As if this were notenough, in March 1916, following a harsh winter, two avalancheson Mojstrovka buried several hundred prisoners and some oftheir guards.It is estimated that several thousand young Russian prisoners diedbuilding this road. For 100 years they have lain here, in Slovenesoil, far from home, next to the road which in 2006 was officiallynamed RUSKA CESTA the Russian Road in their honour.

This modest wooden chapel, similar to the tserkvushkas oftheir homeland, was built at a time of war and death. Today,however, with the annual memorial ceremonies, it contributesto weaving and deepening ties between two friendly nations,Slovenia and Russia.

25thAnniversary od Slovenias Independence

Slovenia appeared on the world political map as a sovereignand independent state in 1991. This year it celebrates 25years of statehood.

The attainment of independence may be considered themost important result of the plebiscite of December 1990,when citizens recognised a historic opportunity and seizedthe moment. The political agreement reached among theparliamentary parties was a signal of political unity andnational maturity. In terms of the unity it represented, thedecision was without comparison in the history of theSlovene nation. The values of the independence period courage, decisiveness and unity are also symbolised byTriglav, Slovenias highest mountain.

With its symbolic message, Triglav is also includ ed in thesymbols of statehood and Slovenia is the on ly countrywhose national symbols coat of arms and ag feature aspecically identied mountain.

The highest peak of the Julian Alps, Triglav (2,864 m) wasrevered by the various peoples (Celts, Romans, Lombards andSlavs) who crossed the territory of present-day Slovenia inthe past. For a time the mountain represented little more thana border region, but it was invested with greater signicanceduring the Age of Enlightenment in Slovenia. Triglav becamethe inspiration for numerous poets, authors, travel writers,painters and politicians, and a symbol of Sloveneness.The myths and tales that surround it, combined with thebreathtaking landscape, make this mountain one of the mostfamous peaks of the Eastern Alps. From spring to autumn itis visited by processions of mountaineering enthusiasts. Nowonder, then, that you cannot be considered a true Sloveneuntil you have conquered Triglav.

Slowenien betrat im Jahre 1991 alsselbststndiger und unabhngiger Staatdie politische Weltlandkarte und feiertin diesem Jahr das 25. Jubilum seinerStaatlichkeit.

Die Unabhngigkeit gilt als eines derwichtigsten Entscheidungen der Brger,die beim Plebiszit im Dezember 1990 denhistorischen Moment erkannten und ihnzu nutzen wussten. Das erzielte politischeAbkommen der Parteien im Parlamentsignalisierte politische Einigkeit undnationale Reife. Die Entscheidung im Sinneder Einigkeit war bis dahin beispiellos in

der Geschichte des slowenischen Volkes.Die Werte der Unabhngigkeitsepoche Mut, Entschlossenheit und Einigkeit symbolisiert auch der Triglav, der hchsteGipfel Sloweniens.

Der Triglav mit seiner symbolischenBotschaft ist auch in die Staatssymboleintegriert. Slowenien ist der einzige Staat,der einen ganz bestimmten Gipfel imWappen und in der Flagge hat.

Den Triglav, der mit seinen 2864 Meternder hchste Gipfel der Julischen Alpenist, beobachteten und verehrten schonverschiedene Vlker (Kelten, Rmer,Langobarden und Slawen), die in derVergangenheit das slowenische Gebietdurchquerten. Whrend der Berg einigeZeit nur ein Grenzgebiet darstellte, erhielter in der Zeit der slowenischen Aufklrungeine weitaus grere Bedeutung. DerTriglav wurde zur Inspiration vieler Dichter,Schriftsteller, Reiseschriftsteller, Maler

und Politiker sowie zum Symbol desSlowenentums.Infolge von mythologischen Erzhlungenund der wunderschnen Landschaft gehrtder Berg zu den bekanntesten Gipfelnder Ostalpen. Triglav je s svojim simbolnim sporoilom vkljuen tudi vdravne simbole in Slovenija je edina drava, ki ima tonodoloeno goro upodobljeno v grbu in zastavi.

Triglav, z 2864 metri nadmorske viine najviji vrh JulijskihAlp, so opazovala in spotovala razlina ljudstva (Kelti,Rimljani, Langobardi in Slovani), ki so v preteklosti prekalaslovensko ozemlje. Medtem ko je gora nekaj asa pomenilae mejno obmoje, ji je vejo veljavo namenilo obdobje

GAMES OF THE XXXI OLYMPIAD RIO DE JANEIRO 2016

Pota Slovenije has to date issued 65 sports-relatedstamps, among them 28 Olympic stamps. All have beenissued in sheetlets of six stamps. The designs of thisyears stamps feature womens mountain biking and menscanoe/kayak slalom.

Brazil hosts the Summer Olympics for the rst time, and thisedition of the Games also marks the rst time t he Olympicshave been held in South America. Brazils national postaloperator Correios has already issued 65 Olympic stampsand three miniature sheets. The stamps show the majorityof Olympic sports, while the miniature sheets feature theGames logo. All the Brazilian Olympic stamps are printedin sheets of 20, 25 and 30, which is a record for issuesof stamps commemorating the Olympic Games. Hostcountries usually issue series consisting of between twoand eight stamps. Brazil is thus an exception.

The Slovenian Olympic Committee, whose logo appears onthe edge of the sheet, currently has 85 athletes on the list ofentrants. The nal number will be known by the end of July.

Judging from the entries from other countries, this yearsGames will see the participation of quite a number ofathletes who have already competed in the Winter Olympics.It is not yet known who these athletes are. A curiosity: IgorRadin is the only Slovene to date to have competed in bothSummer and Winter Games at the Rome Olympics in 1960as a member of the coxed four and, f our years later, at the1964 Winter Olympics in Innsbruck, as a member of theYugoslav ice hockey team.

Given Slovenias long tradition at the highest levels ofsport, we optimistically expect some good results fromour athletes.

XXXI. OLYMPISCHEN SPIELE RIO DE JANEIRO 2016

Die Slowenische Post hat bisher65 Briefmarken zum Thema Sportherausgegeben, davon waren 28 Markenzum Thema Olympische Spiele. Alle sindin Kleinbgen zu je sechs Briefmarkenerschienen. Das Motiv der diesjhrigenMarken sind der Mountainbike-Sport derDamen und der Wildwasserkajak- undWildwasserkanusport der Herren.

Brasilien ist erstmals Veranstalter derOlympischen Sommerspiele, die aucherstmals in Sdamerika stattnden. DerStaat bzw. die Brasilianische Post habenzum Thema Olympische Spiele bis heuteschon 65 Briefmarken und drei Blocksherausgegeben. Auf den Briefmarken istdie Mehrheit der Olympischen Sportartendargestellt, auf den Blocks ist das Logoder Olympischen Spiele abgebildet. Allebrasilianischen Olympischen Briefmarkenwurden in Bgen zu je 20, 25 und 30Briefmarken gedruckt, was einen Rekord beiden Ausgaben zu Ehren der OlympischenSpiele darstellt. Gewhnlich geben dieVeranstaltungslnder eine Reihe heraus, diezwei bis acht Briefmarken enthlt. Brasilienbildet dieses Mal eine Ausnahme.

Das slowenische Olympische Komitee,dessen Logo auch am Rand des Bogens zusehen ist, hat 85 Sportlerinnen und Sportlerauf der Teilnehmerliste, die endgltigeAnzahl wird bis Ende Juli bekannt sein.

InteressanteFakten: Igor Radin war der einzigeSlowene, der sowohl an den Sommer- alsauch Winterspielen teilnahm bei denSommerspielen 1960 in Rom als Mitglieddes Vierers mit Steuermann und vier Jahrespter bei den Winterspielen in Innsbruckals Mitglied der jugoslawischen Hockey-Nationalmannschaft.

Hinsichtlich der langen Tradition desslowenischen Spitzensports erwarten wirvoller Optimismus einige Spitzenpltzeunserer Sportler und Sportlerinnen.

Pota Slovenije je doslej na temo porta izdala 65 znamk,od katerih je 28 olimpijskih znamk. Vse so izle v malihpolah s estimi znamk. Motiva letonjih znamk sta enskogorsko kolesarstvo in kajak-kanu na divjih vodah za moke.

Brazilija je prvi gostiteljica poletnih olimpijskih iger, kibodo tudi prvi v Juni Ameriki. Drava oziroma brazilskapota sta na temo olimpijskih iger do danes e izdali kar65 znamk in tri bloke. Na znamkah je prikazana veinaolimpijskih portov, na blokih pa je upodobljen logotip iger.Vse brazilske olimpijske znamke so bile natisnjene v polah z20, 25 in 30 znamkami, kar je rekord pri izdajah v poastitevolimpijskih iger. Obiajno izdajajo drave prirediteljice serije,ki vsebujejo dve do osem znamk. Brazilija je tokrat izjema.

Slovenski olimpijski komite, katerega logotip je tudi naobu pole, ima na seznamu evidentiranih 85 portnic in

portnikov, dokonno tevilo udeleencev bo znano dokonca julija.

Na letonjih igrah naj bi po najavah iz tujine sodelovalo tudinekaj portnikov, ki so e nastopili na zimskih igrah. Ne vese e, kdo so ti portniki. Kot zanimivost: Igor Radin je biledini Slovenec, ki je nastopil na poletnih in zimskih igrah eta 1960 v Rimu kot lan veslakega etverca s krmarjemn na zimskih igrah tiri leta kasneje v Innsbrucku, kjer je bil

EUROPA THINK GREEN

Europa stamps are a series of stamps issued by themembers of PostEurop, a trade association representingEuropean public postal operators, on a common theme,with each postal operator choosing its own design.This year, however, we are trying a different approach: acompetition was held to choose a single stamp designon the theme Ecology Think Green and, as a result,all PostEurop members will issue a stamp bearing thewinning design by Doxia Sergidou of Cyprus.

The stamp offers the clear message that creating agreener planet is in our hands: while the left-hand side ofthe stamp is grey, the right-hand side is being paintedgreen by a human hand.

We are proud and pleased that Slovenias proposedstamp design by Gorazd Uakar was classied second.The message of Slovenias stamp is also more thanclear: Europe must work together to be greener. The factthat nature does not recognise national boundaries issymbolised by an illustration of the European continent ina single, green leaf.

Once again this year Pota Slovenije will be issuing twostamps in the Europa series, each in a sheetlet of eightstamps plus one vignette.

Die Briefmarkenreihe Europa, dievon den Mitgliedern der Vereinigungeuropischer Postunternehmen(PostEurop) ausgegeben wird,jedes mit eigenem Motiv fr einbestimmtes Thema, hat in diesemJahr ein etwas anderes Konzept. DiePostunternehmen haben nmlichan einer besonderen Ausschreibungzur Wahl eines einheitlichenBriefmarkenmotivs zum Themakologie Denke

grn teilgenommen.

Alle Lnder werden somit dieBriefmarke mit dem Gewinner-Designherausgeben, dessen Autorin dieDesignerin Doxia Sergidou aus Zypernist. Die Briefmarke hat die klareBotschaft, dass der grne Planet inunseren Hnden ist. Whrend dielinke Briefmarkenhlfte grau gefrbtist, wird die rechte Seite durchMenschenhand grn gefrbt.

Wir sind stolz und froh, dass derslowenische Briefmarkenvorschlagvon Gorazd Uakar es auf den zweiten

Platz geschafft hat. Auch die Aussageder slowenischen Briefmarke ist mehrals eindeutig: Europa als Ganzes

muss grn handeln. Dass die Naturkeine Grenzen kennt, zeigt auchdie Darstellung des europischenKontinents auf einem einzigen,grnen Blatt.

Die Slowenische Post wird auch indiesem Jahr zwei Briefmarken ausder Reihe Europa herausgeben, jedeMarke im Kleinbogen zu je achtMarken und eine Vignette.

EUROPA MISLI ZELENO

Serija znamk Europa, ki jo izdajamo lani Zdruenjaevropskih potnih operaterjev (PostEurop), vsak s svojimmotivom na doloeno temo, ima letos nekoliko druganozasnovo: potni operaterji smo namre sodelovali vposebnem nateaju za izbor enotnega motiva znamke naemo Ekologija Misli zeleno.

Vse drave bomo tako izdale znamko z zmagovalnooblikovalsko reitvijo, katere avtorica je oblikovalka DoxiaSergidov s Cipra. Znamka daje jasno sporoilo, da je zeleni

planet v naih rokah: medtem ko je leva stran znamke siva,o loveka roka na desni strani pobarva v zeleno.

Ponosni in veseli smo, da se je slovenski predlog znamkeavtorja Gorazda Uakarja uvrstil na odlino drugo mesto.

Tudi sporoilo slovenske znamke je ve kot jasno: Evropamora kot celota delovati zeleno. Da narava ne poznameja, sporoa tudi prikaz evropske celine v enotnem,

zelenem listu.

Pota Slovenije tako tudi letos izdaja dve znamki v serijiEuropa, vsako v mali poli z osmimi znamkami in vinjeto.

Tovorna motorna ladja PIRAN

ezoceanska tovorna motorna ladja Piranje bila prvapopolnoma nova ladja, zgrajena in kupljena v lastnemaranmaju, ki se je leta 1959 pridruila oti Splone plovbe.Nekaj asa ni bila le najveja slovenska tovorna ladja, papa tudi najveja ladja jugoslovanske trgovske ote. Naemednarodno prevozniko podjetje jo je uporabljalo v prostiplovbi, kot prva ladja podjetja je opravila tudi potovanje nanovi liniji okoli sveta.

Zgrajena je bila v ladjedelnici Hakodate Dock Co. Ltd.,Hakodate, na Japonskem leta 1959, kjer so februarja leta

956 popravili v neurju hudo pokodovano ladjo Roginohranili dobre poslovne stike.

Ladja Piranje bila dolga 158,2 m, njena irina je bila 19,7 m, mela je nosilnost 16.076 ton (BRT 10.562, NRT 6.136),

poganjal jo je motor s 5.295 kW (7.101 KS), plula pa je shitrostjo 13,5 vozla (navtinih milj na uro).

Splona plovba je z ladjo Piran, ki je prevaala generalne inazsute tovore, upravljala do leta 1986, ko jo je prodala kotstaro elezo Slovenskim elezarnam. Istega leta je bila v

Splitu tudi razrezana.

Prihod popolnoma nove, moderne ladje v Piranski zaliv, predmesto, kjer je imela Splona plovba Piran sede, je bil poletieta 1959 velik in pomemben zgodovinski dogodek ne le

za takratno SR Slovenijo, temve celo za SFR Jugoslavijo.Ovekoveili so ga tevilni fotografski in lmski posnetki.

The Cargo Vessel PIRAN

The ocean-going cargo vessel Piranwas the rst brand-new ship to be custom-built for the shipping companySplona Plovba (General Navigation Company). It joinedthe companys eet in 1959. For a time it was not onlythe largest Slovene cargo ship but the largest ship in theYugoslav merchant eet. Splona Plovba initially used it inthe tramp trade but the Piranalso became the companysrst ship to operate a new round-the-world line.

It was built in 1959 by the Hakodate Dock Co. Ltd ofHakodate, Japan, in the same shipyard where the Rog,badly damaged in a storm, was repaired in February 1956,and with which Splona Plovba had maintained goodbusiness contacts.

The Piranwas 158.2 m long with a beam of 19.7 m and adeadweight tonnage of 16,076 tonnes (10,562 BRT, 6,136NRT). It was powered by a 5,295 kW (7,101 hp) engine and

had a top speed of 13.5 knots (nautical miles per hour).Splona Plovba continued to use the Piranto transportgeneral cargo and bulk cargo until 1986, when the shipwas sold for scrap to the steelworks group Slovenskeelezarne and scrapped in Split, Croatia that same year.The arrival of a brand-new ship of modern design in theBay of Piran in the summer of 1959, off the coast of thetown in which Splona Plovba had its registered oce,was a historic event and an important day not only for theSocialist Republic of Slovenia (as it was then), but for theSocialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia as a whole. Thescene has been immortalised in numerous photographsand lm recordings.

Einige Zeit war esnicht nur das grte slowenischeFrachtschiff, sondern auch dasgrte Schiff der jugoslawischenHandelsotte. Unser internationalesTransportunternehmen hat es in derCharterschifffahrt eingesetzt und alserstes Schiff machte es auch eineFahrt auf der neuen Linie um die Welt.

Das Schiff wurde in der WerftHakodate Dock Co Ltd., Hakodate,1959 in Japan gebaut, wo imFebruar 1956 die infolge einesUnwetter stark beschdigte Rogrepariert worden war und man guteGeschftsverbindungen pegte.

Die Ankunft des ganz neuen, modernenSchiffs in der Piraner Bucht, vor derStadt Piran, in der das UnternehmenSplona plovba seinen Sitz hatte,war im Sommer 1959 ein groes undbedeutendes historisches Ereignis,und zwar nicht nur fr die damaligeSozialistische Teilrepublik Slowenien,sondern fr die gesamte SozialistischeFderative Republik Jugoslawien.Diesen Moment verewigten zahlreicheFotograen und Filmaufnahmen.

Coming in July and September 2016

A new special Euromed Postalstamp will be issued on 9July 2016. As you probably know, this is a joint issue by thepostal operators that form the Euromed Postal Union. Thecommon theme for this year is Fish of the Mediterranean.The stamp will be issued in sheets of 25 stamps with aface value of 0.64.

We can also announce one other special issue: on 18July 2016 we will issue, together with Croatia, a stampcommemorating the 150thanniversary of the Battle ofLissa(sometimes called the Battle of Vis), notable forthe brilliant tactics employed by one of the most eminentadmirals of the nineteenth century, Wilhelm von Tegetthoff,born in Marburg, Styria (today Maribor, Slovenia). Thestamp will be issued in a miniature sheet containing asingle stamp with a face value of 0.60.

The new stamps in our Faunaseries will this time featurecetaceans. Issued in sheets of 25, the stamps will show

the common bottlenose dolphin (Tursiops truncatus), thestriped dolphin (Stenella coerulleoalba)and the n whale(Balaenoptera physalus). The stamps will have face valuesof 0.60, 0.64 and 0.92. A miniature sheet containing asingle stamp with a face value of 0.97 will show the short-beaked common dolphin (Delphinus delphis).

The stamps in this series will be printed using a specialprinting technique known as UV printing, which allows usto include an additional image visible in ultraviolet light.

We also continue our Natural Parks of Sloveniaseries, witha stamp featuring the Strunjan Nature Park.
