The Company: Ma'aden was formed by Royal decree in 1997 to facilitate the development of Saudi Arabia's mineral resources. Ma'aden has also developed its activities beyond gold with the development of Ma'aden Phosphate Company, which started production in 2011, its Aluminium project and a number of other projects. Ma'aden's exploration teams are working to expand available resources in existing business areas as well as to broaden the company's mineral portfolio.

Job Objectives: To be responsible for the effective and efficient management and operation of the two

Pot lines and implementation of Ma’aden Production System in a safe, environmentally sound, efficient and cost effective manner. To ensure that the approved Standard Operating Procedure is followed within all operational areas and that compliance with SOP is closely monitored on all shifts according to criticality defined by the critical processes and in the Critical Process Groups. The SOP shall be in alignment with the directives given by the technology supplier.

Job Description: Develop and gain approval for department policies and procedures ensuring their

alignment to overall business objectives. Monitor and control implementation and advice on the policy application to ensure that they are properly communicated and widely understood.

Ensure the departmental reports are prepared as per management request, in a timely and accurate manner to meet company and department requirements governing reporting.

Comply with all agreed occupational health, safety and environmental regulations in order to protect personnel and physical assets.

Ensure that Risk Assessments are reflected in all relevant SOP’s

Ensure that the work areas are kept in a clean and tidy state in order that work can be carried out safely and effectively.

Adherence to world class best practices for safety, health and environmental standards. Provide input and recommend the continuous improvement of the company practices

taking into account ‘international best practice’, changes in international standards and changes in the business environment which demand proactive action plans.

Contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of department system, processes and practices, cost reduction and productivity improvement.

Ensure the effective achievement of functional objectives through the leadership of Potline by setting departmental and individual objectives, managing performance, developing and motivating staff, provision of formal and informal feedback and appraisal in order to optimize individual and departmental performance.

Actively develop and maintain Succession Plans for the department. Also play an active role as a mentor.

Ensure the development of nationals to take on adequate positions should be given special attention.

Responsible for the development and implementation of quality management systems and procedures.

To filter key points from complex details and develop plans accordingly. Cost responsibility for Potline and to operate effectively within their budget. Deployment of Reduction Group KPI’s down to monthly, weekly and daily KPI/PI’s for

follow up on departmental as well as shift level. Develop and maintain a meeting structure that focuses on PI’s and deals with

deviations in a structured and proactive manner. Ensure that production requirements are met by monitoring team and individual

performance by regularly reviewing team KPIs and PIs and performing reviews on each employee as per HR policy and procedures.

Ensure that Potline team achieves required output/function without compromise to any facet of the operation and compliance with the critical process trees as defined for the department.

Provide leadership resource for Reduction Group Manager and the overall management team within Reduction Group.

From Dec’07 till Jan’14 worked at Vedanta Aluminum Limited, India.

The Company: Vedanta Resource Plc, an Indian based LSE listed metal & mining major, is the Greenfield smelter project for Aluminium production.

The Key Result Areas

Working as Shift Superintendent, responsible for 152 pots. Erection and commissioning of 330KA aluminum pot line. Direct, co-ordinate and control day to day operations of the assigned pot line to meet

the production target by effective utilization of equipment and manpower. Implement the SOP, established work procedures and quality standards to maintain

quality and achieve economies. Minimize plant down time by prompt recognition of problems and timely corrective

actions. Recommended changes, modifications, improvements etc. to improve the Pot rooms

operating performance as well as pre-empt potential problems. Direct, control and motivate the workforce to ensure maximum manpower efficiency

and healthy employee relations. Ensure safety of personnel, team mates and equipment. My job responsibilities are to carry out target metal production, monitoring the job

quality, control of metal purity, monitor and maintain process parameters, maintain safety standard, man power control and inter departmental liaisoning.

Production Planning & Control

Defining, scheduling and managing all the activities of Process Control department of Pot Room to troubleshoot the problems encountered daily.

In-charge of 35 executives in the department. Managing all the manpower and extracting the expertise from each and every one.

Responsible for Reduction pot cells; Process control criteria, Current Efficiency, Metal Purity, and Process Measurements & Improvements

Familiar with Production process flow and nuances of process with thorough knowledge of SCADA.

Monitoring the process (production) parameters using statistical process methods Accountable for investigating process deviations through Root Cause Analysis &

troubleshooting. Conducting process audit to maintain strict adherence to SOP, thereby maintaining

international standards of operation. Performing Quality analysis of the hot metal produced to maintain international purity

standards. Apart from management timely training is given for individual development and giving

training to all the new joiners including Engineers and Graduates. Planning and effecting preventive maintenance schedules of various machineries and

instruments to increase machine up time and equipment reliability. Co-ordinating Start – Up of plant 1 (line 1 & line 2)608 pots (330kA) to produce a total

of 0.55 million tonne of aluminium annually. Impart continuous on job training to the subordinates to enhance their operational

efficiencies.

Quality Control/ Assurance

Ensure adherence to quality standards and maintaining all related documents. Identify areas of quality failures and take steps to rectify the system. Practicing quality standards with key emphasis on improving quality. Exposure of TQM and other quality tools such as 6Sigma, 5S, Kaizen, ISO Certification

and SAP application. Active member of Quality circle completed six projects this FY 2013-14
