The Main-Spessart district is located near thebaroque town o Wuerzburg, with the Main rivermeandering through the lovely landscape at theoothills o the Spessart Mountains. The regionis well known or its riendly people, its beautiulorests, rivers, castles, ortresses, its picturesquevillages and towns built in medieval time.

The international airport o Frankurt am Main iswithin 3 hours driving time.

The Main-Spessart County was chosen or theninth time as the estival site. The estival alreadytook place here in 1983, 1986, 1989, 1992,

1995, 1998, 2001, 2004 and in 2007.

Its riendly local people will oer Bavarian hospi-tality and Gemtlichkeit to youth music groupsrom all over the world, giving them the oppor-tunity to present their talents in public perorm-ances.

Towns and villages like Karlstadt, Lohr,Gemnden, Werneld, Marktheideneld, Erlen-bach, Urspringen, Grendor, Eussenheim,Kreuzwertheim, Frammersbach, Partenstein, Kar-bach and others together with their local youthgroups and local music groups will welcome theoreign visitors making their stay enjoyable, suc-cessul and ull o new impressions.

The participating groups will have the chance tomeet ellow young musicians rom Germany androm other countries, or an exchange o musi-cal experience and last but not least to enjoy aninternational youth meeting to be remembered orlong.

AccommodatioThe music groups will mainly be accommodatedwith German amilies which allows or a trueencounter programme.

At a surcharge groups can be booked into smalllocal hotels and inns.

Festia caacte

The music estival will take place as an inter-national meeting through music and not as a

competition. However, every participating musicgroup will receive a remembrance token o theestival at the end. All participating conductors,band and choir leaders will meet to discuss musi-cal viewpoints and exchange experiences.

The estival includes ull board on 7 days, trans-ers rom and to Frankurt airport or train station,bus transportation during the week, courier serv-

ice, all programme arrangements.Not included is the cost or a van i one is need-ed or the instruments.

Group leaders / chaperones can be accommo-dated at local hotels at a surcharge.

I a group travels with their own bus the price willgo down by 90.00 per person.

The application orm should be sent to OIK asearly as possible to ensure a place in the estival.

With the application a deposit o 70.00 perperson is due.

Groups must bring along their own musicalequipment as it is very difcult to hire music in-struments in Germany.

Groups must have health insurance and be in-sured against accident, liability, damage and losso luggage and instruments.

For the promotion o the music estival we canprovide a PowerPoint presentation on CD as wellas brochures on the area.

A brie summary o this estival brochure in Ger-man, Dutch, French, Italian, Spanish and Japa-nese can be sent on request.
