1. The training programme is built up of lectures, case work, classroom sessions and ends up with 5 days face-to-face sessions from 28.09 to 01.10 2014, in Rio de Janeiro, prior to the FIDIC 2014 World Engineering Conference. The programme focuses on three main subjects: z Case 1 Organisation and Human Resources Development Starting a company Reorganising a company z Case 2 Business Development Framework Marketing Financial and quality control z Case 3 Business Development Instruments. Consolidation Phase Business Integrity For each case FIDIC has appointed a Mentor who will follow the work and comment on the outcome. Fluency in written and spoken English is a condition for successful participation. 2. Prior to the programme start, some test sessions will be organised for participants to check their audio and connection facilities. Following the test session a kick-off session is organised to introduce FIDIC, the programme, the virtual PODIO platform and will allow the participants to ask general questions. 3. Participants must attend a lecture for each case, which is then followed by the case work. The lectures may be watched on the YPMTP platform. The 2014 programme is based on FIDIC’s Guide to Practice, which will be available on the Podio platform together with a set of FIDIC documents and literature references. The documents can be downloaded but not printed from the platform. 4. An additional lecture focuses on FIDIC Client/Consultant Model Services Agreement (White Book), Sub-Consultancy Agreement, Joint-Venture Agreement and Representative Agreement. 5. A Case consists of issues related to the development of a consulting company and to a number of related questions. The participants are expected to work on, and discuss with, their team mates a given set of questions during the planned period (one month). At the end of each period one or two “editors” from each team will summarise the discussion and present the conclusions at the following classroom session. If a participant is not able to participate during a given month, he should make sure to actively participate during the next period. 6. The questions raised in the Cases are directly related to the case as such, but some may also focus on general management issues. While replying to the questions, the participants are encouraged to consult colleagues in their company as well as to discuss the replies with their team mates on the YPTM platform. The exchange of points of view and experience is an important part of the learning and networking process.

7. The dates of the virtual sessions are given below. The teams will be established according to the participants’ time zones. A condition for receiving a Certificate of Successful Completion is that the participant has attended at least 50 % of the virtual sessions, except exceptional circumstances such as ‘out of internet reach’.

9Rio FIDIC Conference:

Case work, three days introduced and guided by the Facilitator and the Mentors (from 24.09 to 28.09), followed by a 2-day preparation of the presentation at the Future Leaders’ Workshop (on the 30.09).
