ARTEX ELT 1000
Improved Positional Accuracy
The Artex ELT 1000 is a value-priced upgrade to standard 121.5 MHz transmitters, which are no longer monitored by the Cospas-Sarsat system. The 406 MHz transmitter produces a much more accurate position, typically 1.86 miles as compared with 9.3 to 12.4 miles for 121.5 MHz transmitters. When coupled to the aircraft navigation system via the built-in GPS interface, the ELT 1000’s accuracy improves up to approximately 110 yards.
An Affordable Upgrade
Because it is a single output ELT, the Artex ELT 1000 utilizes the same RF output and only one coax cable to transmit a 406 MHz emergency signal to Cospas-Sarsat satellites and a local 121.5 homing signal. The all new built in GPS Nav Interface does not require aircraft power to operate - greatly reducing installation cost. The new remote switch only requires 2-wires, this makes upgrading your older 121.5 MHz ELT simple and affordable.

Overview of ELT 1000 Comparison to ME 406
_____________________________________________________________________________
ELT 1000 has four distinct advantages when compared to ME-406:
• Built in NAV Interface for serial connectivity to the GPS • No Aircraft power is required for the remote switch • Remote switch is now 2 wires instead of 5 • ELT 1000 costs less than ME 406 • TSO compliant 3 position activation switch
Additionally, the ELT 1000 has these unique features:
• Identical footprint and size to ME 406 • Multiple hole patterns adapt to most production ELT trays • New lower cost rod antenna option provides additional savings (P/N 8603)
• ACR/ARTEX brand provides a certified ISO-9100 quality system, in house repair and long-term experience as a supplier of ELT technology to most aircraft manufacturers
What stays the same?
• 455-7423 Installation kit
• 110-338 and 110-338-01 rod antenna • 110-773 whip antenna • Cables and connectors • Remote switch P/N 345-6196 and all current 5 wire switches
can be used to cut down modification costs o It is recommended that the new two-wire switch be adopted to simplify the
installation in addition to eliminating the aircraft power requirement
What changes?
• Lower cost rod antenna (P/N 8603) • 2 wire switch without aircraft power (3 position) • The test switch on the ELT is 3 position • Although the tray is the same plastic, the P/N changes to 8303 due to new color • ELT 1000 can accept 2 different baud rates of NAV data • The updated programming sheet must be used to indicate the baud rate selection
• The tester must be reworked to add the baud rate programming feature
• The tester must be reworked to modify the frequency to ELT 1000 (will not see 406
without rework)
