Zwanzig Jahre blieb es unangetastet: Das Graffiti mit dem sich Scale, Gor, und Loomit ihre Graffiti/Writercrew FBI (Fabulous Bomb Inability) Ende der 80er Jahre am Düsseldorfer Hauptbahnhof verewigten. Die Crew, die 1986 in St. Cloud/Paris von Gor und Gawky gegründet wurde, bestand sei-ner Zeit aus den Franzosen Scale, Croy 2, Stak, Darco ( Gor) und Gawky, den Deutschen Neon, Cemnoz, Stone, Don M Zaza, Loomit, Daim, Chintz, Bom-ber, Shark und Shime sowie dem Australier Dash.

Das Bild entstand im Herbst 1988 und setzte sich aus einem Style, einem Cha-rakter und der Darstellung einer Axt zusammen. Für den Style zeichnete sich Gor verantwortlich, der türkis-blaue Charakter mit Pistole und FBI-Marke war das Werk von Loomit, die Axt stammte von Scale. Das Fill-In in orange-türkis, der Style, der durch die Kombination der Buchstabenbalken voller Bewegung war und der Charakter vollendeten dieses perfekte Graffiti. Zwei Jahrzehnte blieb dieses Bild, daß die Düsseldorfer Graffiti Szene begeisterte, quasi unberührt. Lediglich ein paar Tags, die rund um das Piece angebracht wurden, störten den Anblick.

Bis zum Winter 2008, als das Bild schließlich von respektlosen Anfängern, die sich der Bedeutung dieses Werks nicht bewusst waren, gecrosst wurde.

Dann, eines Tages im Juni 2009, war es plötzlich wieder da. So, als ob nichts gewesen wäre. Style, Charakter, Axt! Vier anonyme Graffitiliebhaber aus ver-schiedenen Generationen hatten sich zusammengefunden, um das FBI- Bild wieder auferstehen zu lassen, und so ihre Wertschätzung für die „Mona Lisa der Düsseldorfer Graffiti Szene“ auszudrücken.

Um das Bild originalgetreu nachzubilden, musste ein Foto her. Keine leichte Aufgabe, da die Stelle, an der sich das Bild befand, für Fußgänger nicht zugäng-lich ist und mittlerweile 20 Jahre vergangen waren. Nachdem das Foto organi-siert, der Plan geschmiedet und die Aufgaben verteilt waren, zogen die vier in einer lauen Sommernacht in den sogenannten Kessel, bewaffnet mit Farbe und jeder Menge Motivation. Ziel dieser Aktion war nicht, sich selbst zu verewigen, sondern Düsseldorf ein Stück seiner Graffitigeschichte wiederzuschenken und damit ein Zeichen zu setzen.

Nichts wurde dem Zufall überlassen: Die Farben wurden sorgfältig ausge-wählt, denn Ende der 80er gab es so manche Farbnuance noch nicht und das Originalbild sollte so genau wie möglich nachgestellt werden. Um dem Bild seine Authentizität nicht zu nehmen, legte man besonderen Wert auf jedes einzelne Detail.

Auch wenn es nicht mehr das Original ist – der Wille und Respekt vor der gemeinsamen Leidenschaft zum Graffiti zählte.

It remained untouched for twenty years: the graffiti with which Scale, Gor and Loomit immortalized their writing crew FBI (Fabulous Bomb Inability) at the main station of Düsseldorf in the late 1980s. The international crew was founded in 1986 in St. Cloud, Paris by Gor and Gawky, and consisted of the French writers Scale, Croy 2, Stak, Darco (Gor) and Gawky, the German writers Neon, Cemnoz, Stone, Don M Zaza , Loomit, Daim, Chintz, Bomber, Shark, Shime and the Australian writer Dash.

The piece was created around autumn 1988 and consisted of a style, a charac-ter and the comic representation of a hatchet. Responsible for the style was Gor. The turquoise-blue character, equipped with a pistol and an FBI badge, was the work of Loomit and the ax was made by Scale. The fill-in in orange and turquoise, the style, full of movement because of the combination of the basic elements of the letters, together with the character resulted in a perfect piece. This graffiti in-spired the graffiti scene in Düsseldorf for almost two decades and remained virtu-ally unaffected. Only a few tags were attached around it, disturbing the sight.

But in winter 2008, the piece finally got painted over by irreverent novices, who were apparently unaware of the importance of this work.

And then, all of a sudden, one day in June 2009, it was there again. As if noth-ing had happened. Style, character, ax! Four anonymous graffiti lovers from dif-ferent generations gathered for a remake of the FBI, and thus to express their appreciation for the “Mona Lisa” of Düsseldorf.

To resurrect the original piece, a photograph had to be organized. Not an easy task because 20 years had passed by and the trackside wall of the past piece has never been accessible for pedestrians. After the photograph had been organized, the plan was made and the single tasks were distributed. Eventually on a mild summer night and armed with paint and a lot of motivation the four went into the so-called “Kessel”. The aim was not to immortalize oneself, but to return this piece to the graffiti history of Düsseldorf as well as making a mark.

But nothing has been left to chance: the original image should be recreated as accurately as possible and because of that the colours were carefully selected as there have been so many new shades since the late 80s. To not destroy the authenticity of the piece, we put special attention to every detail.

Although it is not the original anymore - the will and respect for the shared passion of graffiti was part of the act.
