Moritz Winkelmann, von der Presse als „Aus-

nahmekünstler“ und „Virtuose mit viel Seele“

gelobt, konzertiert international als Solist mit

Orchestern, in Rezitalen sowie als Kammer-

musiker und hatte Auftritte in der New Yorker

Carnegie Hall, beim Ravinia Festival, bei den

Schwetzinger Festspielen, dem Rheingau Fes-

tival und dem Schleswig-Holstein Festival.

Er spielte u. a. mit Itzhak Perlman, Wolfram

Christ, Stefan Blunier, dem Beethovenorches-

ter Bonn, den New York Classical Players, dem

Kurpfälzischen Kammerorchester, den Mann-

heimer Philharmonikern und dem Kölner Kam-

merorchester. Funk- und Fernsehaufnahmen

entstanden mit dem SWR, ZDF, WDR, WBJC

Baltimore, WFMT Chicago. Als Stipendiat des

DAAD, der Studienstiftung des Deutschen Vol-

kes und der Kunststiftung Baden-Württemberg

studierte er bei dem legendären Leon Fleisher

am Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore.

TELEKOM BEETHOVEN WETTBEWERB BONN 2015

Performing all around the globe, Moritz Winkel-

mann’s playing has been described as „original,

passionate and technically dazzling“ (Hildesheim-

er Allgemeine Zeitung), „full of soul“ (Stuttgarter

Zeitung), and as possessing “resilience and compel-

ling sound balance” (Mannheimer Morgen).

Moritz Winkelmann has performed at Carnegie

Hall in New York and at the Schwetzingen,

Rheingau and Schleswig-Holstein Festivals. He

shared the stage with Itzhak Perlman, Wolfram

Christ, Stefan Blunier, the Beethovenorchester

Bonn, the New York Classical Players, the Cologne

and Kurpfalz Chamber Orchestras, and the Man-

nheim Philharmonic. His playing was broadcast-

ed by SWR, WDR, ZDF, WBJC Baltimore, and

WFMT Chicago.

A scholarship holder of the DAAD, the “Studi-

enstiftung des Deutschen Volkes” and the “Kunst-

stiftung Baden-Württemberg”, he studied with

the great Leon Fleisher at the Peabody Conserva-

tory in Baltimore.

Der in Melbourne geborene Pianist und Kom-

ponist Stefan Cassomenos hatte bereits im Al-

ter von zehn Jahren internationale Konzertauf-

tritte und spielte mit sechzehn seine erste eigene

Komposition „Klavierkonzert Nr. 1: Ägäische

Odyssee“. Er ist zweiter Preisträger des Inter-

nationalen Telekom Beethoven Wettbewerbs

Bonn 2013 und zahlreicher anderer nationaler

und internationaler Klavierwettbewerbe. Er

hat vielfältige Kompositionsaufträge und ist

künstlerischer Leiter mehrerer Festivals und

gefragter musikalischer Projektpartner in ganz

Australien. Stefan Cassomenos wurde 1985 in

Melbourne geboren. Seinen ersten Klavierun-

terricht erhielt er bei Margarita Krupina, stu-

dierte anschließend an der University of Mel-

bourne und der Australia National Academy of

Music und legte sein Examen im Fach Klavier

unter der Betreuung von Stephen McIntyre,

Jan Munro und Michael Kieran-Harvey ab.

Melbourne pianist and composer Stefan Casso-

menos has performed internationally since the

age of 10 and gave the premiere of his own com-

position Piano Concerto No. 1: Aegean Odyssey

at the age of 16. Apart from the Second Grand

Prize of the International Telekom Beethoven

Competition Bonn 2013 he has been awarded

and was fi nalist in several national and inter-

national piano competitions.

Stefan’s compositions are regularly commissioned

and performed throughout Australia and he is

also active as an artistic director of various festi-

vals, projects and collaborations. Born in 1985

in Melbourne, Stefan Cassomenos began his

studies with Margarita Krupina before complet-

ing his tertiary studies at the University of Mel-

bourne and the Australia National Academy of

Music, majoring in piano performance, under

the mentorship of Stephen McIntyre, Ian Munro

and Michael Kieran-Harvey.

Winner of the Telekom Beethoven Competition

in Bonn at only twenty he is one of the foremost

talents of his generation. A student at “Conserva-

torio G. Donizetti“ in Bergamo, where he keeps

studying with Maria Grazia Bellocchio, and at

Mozarteum University in Salzburg with Pavel

Gililov, he has also attended master classes by

Andrzej Jasinski, Andrei Gavrilov, Alexander

Lonquich, Louis Lortie, Benedetto Lupo, Peter

Donohoe, and Cristopher Elton.

He is also noted for his repertoire that ranges

from Baroque to contemporary composers such

as Stockhausen, Boulez and Adés. Other prizes

feature the Beethoven-Ring of the Citizens for

Beethoven Association in Bonn, the fi rst prize at

the Neuhaus Competition in Moscow, and prize

of the Young Euro Classics Festival in Berlin.

N Als Sieger des Telekom Beethoven Wettbe-

werbs im Alter von zwanzig Jahren ist Filippo

Gorini eines der größten Talente der jungen

Generation. Er studiert zurzeit am „Conser-

vatorio G. Donizetti” in Bergamo bei Prof.

Maria Grazia Belloccio und am Mozarteum in

Salzburg bei Prof. Pavel Gililov. Er hat Meister-

kurse bei Andrzej Jasinski, Andrei Gavrilov,

Alexander Lonquich, Louis Lortie, Benedetto

Lupo, Peter Donohoe und Cristopher Elton

absolviert. Filippo Gorini ist bekannt für sein

breites Repertoire vom Barock bis hin zu zeit-

genössischen Komponisten, wie Stockhausen,

Boulez und Adés. Weitere Preise sind der Beet-

hoven-Ring der „Bürger für Beethoven“ in

Bonn, der erste Preis beim Neuhaus Wettbe-

werb in Moskau und Preis der Jungen Euro

Classics Festival in Berlin.

From year to year the piano series “Young

Stars of Classical Music” attracts outstanding

musical talents to the West Palatinate.

Also in this year the City of Kirchheimbolan-

den has allured three young artists, who will

inspire us with their performances.

I am glad that our region once again is able

to demonstrate that it is blessed not only

with a beautiful landscape and highly pro-

ductive economy, but also with open minded

and culturally interested people, who appre-

ciate musical highlights.

Music transcends borders. So it happens in

the International Telekom Beethoven Com-

petition Bonn, where young talents from

all over the world demonstrate their artistic

capacities. Three Winners of the years 2013

and 2015 will be heard in the Palatinate, at

the wonderful piano series “Young Stars of

Classical Music”. I am very glad about that

and wish you enjoyable events.

Meanwhile our Competition is moving to-

wards the next round. The application process

for 2017 is open, in december 2017 we will

head into the 7th edition of the competition.

I invite all of you to join us in Bonn.
