CODEX STONE SX 60 MBSUBSTRATE PREPARATIONThe substrate must be sound, dry, flat, free of cracks, clean, load-bearing and free of materials that could impair adhesionstrength.Test the substrate in accordance with applicable standards or bulletins and report any deficiencies. Mechanically prepare smooth concrete surfaces, adhesion-reducing or weak layers and clean dust-free, if necessary. Prepare substrate according to type and properties with suitable primers and levelling compounds from the codex range of products. Prime gypsum-based substrates. Flowscreeds must be ground, vacuumed and primed. Allow primers to always dry completely. When installing mortar bed thicknesses above 5 mm on moisture-sensitive substrates, such as calcium sulphate screeds, they shall be pretreated with a barrier primer such as codex FG 550 or codex FG 500 S with codex FG 500 H to protect against the mixing water. Heated screeds must be treated according to „Interface coordination for heated floor constructions“ (heat drying, heating to accelerate readiness for covering).Refer to the product data sheets for other codex products used.

APPLICATION1. Pour approx. 5 litres of cold, clean water into a clean container. Add sack contents (25 kg) whilst stirring vigorously until a creamy and lump-free mortar is obtained. Small quantities require approx. 200 ml of water per 1 kg of powder. Allow to mature for approx. 3 minutes, then stir well once more.2. Apply a thin, continuous contact layer with the smoothing trowel to the substrate.3. Apply another sufficiently thick mortar layer onto the fresh contact layer and brush on evenly with the notched trowel. Apply only as much mortar as can be covered within the working time.4. Place natural stone with slight rotating movement into the mortar bed and press down well. The use of tile wedges may be necessary for wall coverings from thicker tiles and mortar layers. For sensitive and/or absorbent natural stone, the backing of the floor covering must be thinly levelled with codex Stone SX 60 MB.5. Remove soiling on tools and covering with water while fresh.

IMPORTANT NOTES

CONSUMPTIONSpecial cements, mineral aggregates, redispersible polymers and additives.

PROTECTION OF THE WORKPLACE AND ENVIRONMENTContains cement low in chromate acc. Regulation (EC) No. 1907/ 2006 (REACH). Cement produces strong alkaline on reaction with water. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. In the event of contact, rinse immediately with water. In the event of skin or eye irritation, seek medical advice. Use protective gloves. When mixing wear a protective dust-mask. Presents no physiological or ecological risk when fully cured.EMICODE EC 1 R PLUS – very low emission.

DISPOSALWhere possible, collect product residues and re-use. Do not allow to get into drains, sewers or ground. Empty paper packaging is recyclable. Collect waste product, mix with water, allow to harden, then dispose as Construction Waste.

Shelf life at least 9 months in original packaging when stored in dry conditions. Carefully and tightly re-seal opened packaging and use the contents as quickly as possible.Optimum processing at 15 – 25 °C, relative humidity 75%. Cold and high humidity will delay whilst heat and low humidity will accelerate the working, setting and drying time. When installing natural stones tending toward strong „dishing“ due to water absorption (e.g. Serpentinite), waterless bonding systems such as codex Fliesopur must be used or application-related consulting needs to be solicited.Use codex products according to the current product overview for areas with increased exposure to chemicals and acids as well as on wood or chipboard panels, metal and plastics or solicit application consulting.Floor temperature control through radiator connection lines returns must be equipped with a temperature limiter (< 38 °C).Protect newly installed areas from drafts, direct sunlight and heat as well as wetness.codex Stone SX 60 MB can also be used as fixing mortar for large format natural stone tiles. Apply codex Stone SX 60 MB here using the buttering-floating method at desired layer thickness (up to max. 40 mm).Tiles and slabs with pronounced structures on the back may possibly require slight skimming over to create a continuous bed for the coverings as much as possible.Clean tools and soiled ceramics with water while fresh.Drying and strength development depend on the weather conditions. Weather cycles ensuring sufficient setting and drying of the coverings must be taken into account with exterior use; appropriate protective measures must otherwise be taken.Exterior processing: Proper sealing with codex NC 220 or codex NC 210 must always be installed. Our first recommendation for balconies and terraces strongly subject to weather is codex Stone SX 80 cristal (obtain application consulting). Glazed vitrified tiles are a preferred covering material. The following apply as well, amongst others, or are recommended for special consideration:
