STOP OVER IN LONDON ON VJAY TO GHANA

    For people of moderate means, we recommend seeing London by Tube.T h a t i s t h e u n d e rg r o u n d r a i l w a y.

We arrived in London early in the morning March 8th and took a bus tthe B.O.A.C. London Terminal. In the lobby we found a hotel directory anwe selected a moderate priced one which was not too far from the centrald i s t r i c t

Y/e res ted most of the morning but in the af ternoon we ventured out .One thing we purchased was a map of London and another a raincoat. Thatnight we studied the map and decided on the places we would v i s i tnext. day. \Ye found that al l the places we most desiredj^o vis i t couldbe r e ach ed from th e C i f c l e L ine o f Lon don ~ t r ans po r t .

The next morning we walked the few blocks from our hotel to BayswateStation, bought our tickets to Tower 'Hill and in a few minutes were beingwhisked along beneath the teeming t raff ic of London at a high rate ofspeed. After stops at several station we knew we were approaching ourdest inat ion. There are no at tendants on the car and no announcements .As the t rain begins to slovv? up and come into a l ighted portion of thetunnel, the name of the station is emblazoned on the walls in many placesso one d o e s n o t n e e d f e a r m i s s i n g h i s s t a t i o n .

When we emerged from the bowels of the earth the great hulk of theTower of London loomed before us. This i s not a t ravel folder but whenone thinks of the great events of history which transpired here in yearspas t he can not f a i l to be impressed.

The Tower of London i s on the bank of the Thames; and from here wegot a good view of Tower Bridge buil t in the reign of Queen Victoriai s a much more impressive structure than London Bridge which i s aleague or more upstream. V e are glad to say that contrary to currentreports London Bridge shows no signs of imminent collapse.

After lunch we again went underground and following our plan visited Buckingham Palace, VJestminister Abbey and Royal Albert Hailvje know nothing of the London underworld but can recommend the

quite a difference for us to make up Since we have made no specialappeal for funds for these purposes i t has played havoc with our budget.

    VJe have confidence in our s t a f f All are p ro i es si n g C h r is ti a ns .They have handled several serious cases satisfactorily and the highincidence of death among infants and young children of th e community hasb e e n d r a s t i c a l l y r e d u c e d

The cl in ic offers us excellent opportuni t ies to w itness to a l lmembers of the community Christian Moslem and pagan. Each morningbegins with a short devotional period attended by both s taff andpatients. Then there are numerous opportunities to witness to individuals as Brother Sampong and I did the other day to a troubled MoslemThe Gospel seed is being sown and some will fa l l on good ground.

    A HELPING HAND

We have two fine young men both Bible College students workingwith us th is summer in the Kumasi area. Both of these men have beenl e f t with the respondsibility of caring for their children: one has twothe other three. Both have been bereaved one by death the other bya d u l t e r y and d e s e r t i o n

The young congregations with which these young men work are ableto supply but a small part of their living. We must supply what is .lacking. Also we have offered to care for their children. Pleasepray that our strength and health may withstand the demands placed onu s d a i l y
