VorwortPraeludium und Fuge C-Dur (BWV 553) istdas erste Stück der Acht kleinen Praeludienund Fugen für Orgel, deren Autorschaftnach dem heutigen Stand der Musik for schungallerdings nicht mehr Johann Sebastian Bachzuzuschreiben ist.

Dieses erste Stück hat einen feierlich-eröff-nenden Charakter und ist spieltechnischleicht zu bewältigen.

Die Pedalstimme der Orgel übernehmen imPräludium Großbass und Subbass, in derFuge kommt noch die Bassflöte hinzu.

IntroductionPrélude et fugue en do majeur (BWV 553)est le premier des huit petits préludes etfugues pour orgue. Ces morceaux étaient àl’origine attribués à Johann Sebastian Bachmais depuis quelques temps, on pense queBach n’en est pas le compositeur.

Il possède ce caractère solennel propre auxmorceaux d’ouverture et est facile à inter-préter du point de vue de la technique dejeu.

Dans le prélude, la voix de basse à l’orgueest jouée par la grande basse et la soubasse,tandis que dans la fugue vient s’ajouter laflûte basse.

ForewordThe Prelude and Fugue in C major (BWV553) is the first of the Eight little Preludesand Fugues (Acht kleine Praeludien undFugen) written for organ. It can be presumedtoday that Johann Sebastian Bach did notcompose the “eight”.

This first piece possesses the character of aformal opening ceremony and technically itis easy to master.

In the prelude, the pedal line for the organ istaken over by great bass and subbass and inthe fugue the bass recorder joins in as well.
