System partner for radiation therapy The robot can offset movements of

the tumor, e.g. due to breathing motions, by means of motion compensation. This means that the patient is exposed to significantly less radiation.

Tumors are treated using a robot-guided LINAC (emission of high-energy X-ray radiation). Compared with conventional systems, this allows extremely flexible positioning of the LINAC around the patient and thus optimal radiation angles.

KUKA supplies RoboCouch control and mechanical components for patient positioning.

Goals:

• Patient, therapist & robot are working out the right therapy

• The therapist can leave the patient with his robot alone for as long

as possible, while he is experiencing an efficient and intense rehab
