1 Getting Started

CautionThis guide does not replace the daily operations handbook that we recommend customers create for their specific production operations.

Designing, implementing, and running your SAP applications at peak performance 24 hours a day has never been more vital for your business success than now.

This guide provides a starting point for managing your SAP applications and maintaining and running them optimally. It contains specific information for various tasks and lists the tools that you can use to implement them. This guide also provides references to the documentation required for these tasks, so you will sometimes also need other guides such as the Master Guide or SAP Library.

NoteYou can run SAP Supply Network Collaboration (SAP SNC) together with SAP Event Management or SAP Collaboration Folders (cFolders) if you have the appropriate licenses. System administration tasks for SAP Event Management are not covered in this guide. For more information about the various tasks and tools that you can carry out for SAP Event Management, see the Operations Guide for SAP Event Management and SAP

cFolders on SAP Service Marketplace at service.sap.com/instguides .

1.1 Global Definitions

SAP Application:

An SAP application is an SAP software solution that serves a specific business area like ERP, S/4HANA, CRM, PLM, SRM, SCM, IBP. It represents a market view on groups of related business scenarios. The delivery of an application contains SAP components that are essential for implementing all application-related business scenarios, processes, and functions. The implementation knowledge is allocated together with an application.

Business Scenario:

From a microeconomic perspective, a business scenario is a cycle, which consists of several different interconnected logical processes in time. Typically, a business scenario includes several company departments and involves other business partners. From a technical point of view, a business scenario needs at least one SAP application (SAP ERP, SAP SCM, or others) for each cycle and possibly other third-party systems. A business scenario is a unit which can be implemented separately and reflects the customer’s prospective course of business.

Component:

A component is the smallest individual unit considered within the Solution Development Lifecycle; components are separately produced, delivered, installed and maintained.

4 Monitoring of SAP Supply Network Collaboration (SAP SNC)

Within the management of SAP Technology, monitoring is an essential task. A section has therefore been devoted strictly to this subject.

For more information about the underlying technology, see the Technical Operations Manual for SAP NetWeaver

7.5 on SAP Help Portal at help.sap.com/nw75 under System Administration and Maintenance Information.

4.1 Alert Monitoring with CCMS

Proactive, automated monitoring is the basis for ensuring reliable operations for your SAP system environment. SAP provides you with the infrastructure and recommendations needed to set up your alert monitoring to recognize critical situations for SAP SNC as quickly as possible.

4.1.1 CCMS Monitoring Installation and Setup

CCMS Monitoring for SAP SNC

SAP Supply Network Collaboration (SAP SNC) 7.0 including enhancement package 4 is technically based on SAP NetWeaver 7.5.

Therefore, it reuses monitoring tools from SAP NetWeaver such as the Computing Center Management System (CCMS). For more information about setting up CCMS monitoring, see the section about Application Server ABAP

in the Technical Operations Manual for SAP NetWeaver 7.5 on SAP Help Portal at help.sap.com/netweaverunder System Administration and Maintenance Information.

Enabling Auto-Alert Mechanisms of CCMS

With the monitoring architecture, you can define auto-reaction methods that are automatically executed when alerts occur. If an alert occurs, you are informed by e-mail, fax, or pager, even if you are not working in the Alert

Monitor. To enable the auto-alert mechanism of CCMS, see SAP Note 617547 . This sets up the CCMS_Send_Alert_to_ALM auto-reaction method. Alternatively, you can set up the CCMS_OnAlert_Email auto-reaction method. For more information, see the Technical Operations Manual for SAP NetWeaver 7.5 on SAP

Help Portal at help.sap.com/netweaver under System Administration and Maintenance Information. Choose Solution Life Cycle Management, then Solution Monitoring Monitoring in the CCMS Configuring the Monitoring Architecture Configuring Alert Triggering and Alert Reactions Defining an Automatic Alert Notification .

If you set up CCMS in such a way that e-mail notifications are sent when an alert is generated by CCMS, you must set up a periodic job of variant SAP&CONNECTALL in the SAP Connect: Administration transaction (transaction code SCOT). You can call up the transaction on the SAP Easy Access screen by choosing Tools Business Communication Communication SAPconnect . Set up the periodicity interval to 5–10 minutes.

4.1.2.5 CCMS Monitoring of the Internet Graphics Service

The Internet Graphics Service (IGS) is part of SAP NetWeaver, and is used on SAP SNC screens to support the display of graphics. Since SAP SNC also uses the IGS, you should also monitor this component. CCMS gives you an overview of the current IGS configuration, the port watchers available, and their associated interpreters. It also displays various performance values for the relevant IGS components.

To monitor IGS in CCMS, you must activate CCMS Monitoring. You can do so by starting the GRAPHICS_IGS_ADMIN report in transaction SE38. Then enter IGS RFC-Destination and choose F8 . Then select the menu Environment and choose Switch on CCMS.

You can find the monitor tree for IGS in the CCMS (transaction RZ20) as the Internet Graphics Server in the monitor set SAP CCMS Monitors for Optional Components.

For more information about the values displayed in CCMS, see the Application Help for SAP NetWeaver 7.5 on

5 Configuring the Simplified User Interface for Purchase Order Collaboration

After installation, if the simplified UI for purchase order collaboration is used then you must perform certain setup steps in SAP Supply Network Collaboration (SAP SNC) in SAP NetWeaver Gateway, and, if applicable, in SAP Web Dispatcher to ensure that http or https requests are directed to the right system, and that logging on to that system and logging off from that system works.

5.1 Connectivity Overview

The simplified UI for purchase order collaboration reads all resources relative to a base URL in the user’s Web browser. You must define this base URL during installation, and you must execute configuration steps to ensure that relative addressing with this base URL is served by the right Internet Communication Framework (ICF) nodes in the SAP SNC system or in the SAP NetWeaver Gateway system.

Users connect to the simplified UI for purchase order collaboration by entering a URL into their browser in the following format:http(s)://hostname:portnumber/unique_prefix/, for example, https://snc.anexamplecompany.com:1080/POCollaboration.

This unique prefix, /POCollaboration will be used in the example configuration. It will be referred to as /unique_prefix.

The simplified UI for purchase order collaboration needs to access the following resources on the servers:

● UI description files, images, and JavaScript

UI files are requested using the URL format: hostname:portnumber/unique_prefix/<file_name> . Requests of this format have to be processed in the SAP SNC 704 system under the Internet Communication Framework (ICF) node /default_host/sap/bc/ui5_ui5/snce/poui/<file_name>.

● OData services on the SAP NetWeaver Gateway system for transactional data

OData services are called using the URL format: hostname:portnumber/unique_prefix/srv/<service_name>

. Requests of this format have to be processed in the SAP NetWeaver Gateway system under ICF node /default_host/sap/bc/opu/odata/<service_name>.

● Log Off URL in case the user wants to log off

The Log Off URL is accessed with hostname:portnumber/unique_prefix/srv/logoff . Requests of this format have to be processed in the SAP SNC system under ICF node /default_host/sap/public/bc/icf/logoff.

For the UI to be able to access these resources, you must create external aliases in the SAP SNC system and in the SAP NetWeaver Gateway system. In case SAP NetWeaver Gateway is deployed in your system landscape as a central hub, routing and URL rewriting have to be performed in the reverse proxy system, such as SAP Web Dispatcher.

5.2 Settings for the System Logon

You must create a user’s account with the same user name in both the SAP NetWeaver Gateway system and in the SAP SNC system in the respective clients. These clients are saved under the External Aliases node in the Internet Connection Framework (ICF) (transaction SICF).

In case SAP NetWeaver Gateway is deployed as a central hub in your system landscape, you must set up a trust relation so that the SAP NetWeaver Gateway system accepts the authentication of the SAP SNC system.

Creating Trusted RFC Destinations and Setting Up Assertion Ticket Handling

In case SAP NetWeaver Gateway is deployed as a central hub in your system landscape, the SAP NetWeaver Gateway components reside in a different system than the SAP SNC system. You must set up a trusted RFC connection between the two systems.

The SAP NetWeaver Gateway system has to be configured to accept assertion tickets.

You make the necessary settings by completing the following steps:

1. Create a type 3 RFC destination on the SAP NetWeaver Gateway host to your SAP SNC system.

2. Define trust between the SAP NetWeaver Gateway host and your SAP SNC system for type 3 connections.

3. Configure your SAP SNC system to accept assertion tickets from SAP NetWeaver Gateway.

4. Configure the SAP NetWeaver Gateway host to accept assertion tickets from your SAP SNC system.

5. Create a system alias for your SAP SNC system.

For more information about the settings for the RFC destinations and assertion tickets, see the relevant sections

in the Configuration Guide for SAP NetWeaver Gateway 2.0 on SAP Help Portal at help.sap.com/nwgateway . Choose SAP NetWeaver Gateway 2.0 Configuration Guide OData Channel Configuration Connection Settings on the SAP NetWeaver Gateway Hub System Connection Settings: SAP NetWeaver Gateway to SAP Systems .

NoteIn case you use the embedded deployment of SAP NetWeaver Gateway, you do not need to create any RFC destinations.

5.3 Activating SAP NetWeaver Gateway Services

To be able to use the following SAP NetWeaver Gateway services for the simplified UI for purchase order collaboration, you must activate them in your SAP NetWeaver Gateway System:

● POUI_SETTINGS_SRV: Node for application settings service

● PO_S_SRV: Node for purchase order maintenance operations relevant for the supplier user in the purchase order collaboration business process

● ASN_S_SRV: Node for advanced shipping notification (ASN) maintenance operations relevant for the supplier user in the purchase order collaboration business process

● SELECTION_SRV: Node for reading, creating, updating, and deleting selections (saved filters) maintained by the user

For more information about how to activate the services, see 2.1 Activate the Service section in the Developer’s

Guide for SAP NetWeaver Gateway 2.0 on SAP Help Portal at help.sap.com/nwgateway . Choose Developer’s

5.4 Internet Communication Framework Node Aliases

NoteThis section is relevant only in case you use the simplified UI for purchase order collaboration).

The settings you make here are different for each deployment option of SAP NetWeaver Gateway. Internet Communication Framework (ICF) nodes are used to define the client of an SAP system to be used for URL accesses in case the client of the SAP NetWeaver Gateway system is different from the client of the SAP SNC system.

Central Hub Deployment of SAP NetWeaver Gateway: An Example Configuration

The external aliases created should match the SAP Web Dispatcher configuration.

NoteOther schemes are also possible, though we recommend using the same external aliases. The example uses identical external aliases.

Choose a unique prefix in the SAP NetWeaver Gateway system, for example, /sap/snce. This will be referred to as /gateway_unique_prefix in the configuration steps.

For the setup to work, choose a unique SAP NetWeaver Gateway prefix that does not match the /unique_prefix with which the application is accessed.

Table 10

/unique_prefix /gateway_unique_prefix Result

/sap/snce_ui/ /sap/snce/ Good: prefixes are different

1. Create the external aliases in the SAP NetWeaver Gateway system in transaction SICF with the following data:

○ External alias: /gateway_unique_prefix○ Target element: /default_host/sap/opu/odata○ Client: the required target client in the SAP NetWeaver Gateway system

2. Create the external aliases in the SAP SNC system in transaction SICF with the following data:

In the reverse proxy, make sure that URLs that should be processed by SAP NetWeaver Gateway, and have the

format hostname:portnumber/unique_prefix/srv/<service_name> are rewritten to the format of

gateway_host:gateway_port/gateway_unique_prefix/<service_name> .

If you use SAP Web Dispatcher as a reverse proxy, you can use the following sample configuration fragment after you adapt it to your own system and to the prefixes you defined for external aliases:

Example# Main SAP Web Dispatcher config file…# Rewrite urls icm/HTTP/mod_0 = PREFIX=/unique_prefix, FILE=<path_to_rewrite_rules>/snce_rewrite_rules.txt…wdisp/system_conflict_resolution = 1 wdisp/system_0 = SID=<GW_SID>, MSHOST=<Gateway MSHOST>, MSPORT=<MSPORT>, SRCSRV=*:*, SRCURL=/gateway_unique_prefix wdisp/system_1 = SID=<Add-on SID>, MSHOST=<Add-on MSHOST>, MSPORT=<MSPORT>, SRCSRV=*:* …

Example# Rewrite rules for Gateway URL in file <path_to_rewrite_rules>/snce_rewrite_rules.txt (referenced in the main config file)# match for odata service calls RegRewriteUrl ^/unique_prefix/snce/poui/srv/(.*) /gateway_unique_prefix/$1 [noescape]

Embedded Deployment of SAP NetWeaver Gateway: An Example Configuration

Create the following external aliases in your SAP SNC system in transaction SICF:

1. External alias for the UI description files, images, and Javascript

○ External alias: /unique_prefix○ Target element: /default_host/sap/bc/ui5_ui5○ Client: the required target client in the SAP SNC system

2. External alias for calling OData services:

○ External alias: /unique_prefix/snce/poui/srv○ Target element: /default_host/sap/opu/odata/○ Client: the required target client in the SAP SNC system

3. External alias for the Log Off link

○ External alias: /unique_prefix/logoff○ Target element: /default_host/sap/public/bc/icf/logoff○ Client: the required target client in the SAP SNC system

CautionThe reverse proxy must not rewrite any URLs.

Starting and Stopping CIF

To start and stop Core Interface (CIF), you must start and stop inbound and outbound CIF queues. CIF data is first buffered by the sending system and then transferred to the target system (outbound queue), or it is transferred by the sending system and then buffered by the target system (inbound queue). To start the CIF queues of your SAP SNC system, use the following reports in SNC and all connected SAP R/3 and SAP ERP systems.

● For outbound queues, use report RSTRFCQ3. Enter the following values:

○ Parameter QNAME: CF*○ Parameter DEST: <Name of logical system>○ Parameter FORCE:<no entry required>○ Parameter NO_ACT: <no entry required>

● For inbound queues, use report RSTRFCI3. Enter the following values:

○ Parameter QNAME: CF*○ Parameter FORCE: <no entry required>○ Parameter MAXLUW: <no entry required>○ Parameter NO_ACT: <no entry required>

To determine whether you are using inbound or outbound queues, execute transaction CFC1 in the connected SAP R/3 and SAP ERP systems and transaction /SAPAPO/C2 in the SAP SNC system.

If you are using outbound queues, you only need to start the outbound queues. If you are using inbound queues, you have to start inbound and outbound queues.

To stop the queues, use the following reports in the SAP SNC system and all connected SAP R/3 and SAP ERP systems according to the queue type you are using:

● For outbound queues, use report RSTRFCQ1. Enter the following values:

○ Parameter QNAME: CF*○ Parameter DEST: <Name of logical system of receiving system>○ Parameter FORCE: <no entry required>

● For inbound queues, use report RSTRFCI1. For parameter QNAME, enter CF*. No entry is required for parameter FORCE.

If you are using outbound queues, you only need to stop the outbound queues. If you are using inbound queues, you have to stop inbound and outbound queues.

For more information, see SAP Note 505304 .

Starting and Stopping Queues for XML Messages

If you have integrated SAP SNC with an ERP system using SAP NetWeaver PI for routing and mapping XML messages, you also need to start and stop queues for XML messages. This is possible in the SAP NetWeaver PI system or in the SAP SNC system. To start and stop queues for XML messages, use the Integration Engine Administration transaction (transaction code SXMB_ADM). To manage queues for XML messages, choose

Administration Manage Queues . The transaction allows you to manage queues for inbound messages, outbound messages, and acknowledgement messages.

6.4 Backup and Restore

You need to back up your system landscape regularly to ensure that you can restore and recover it in case of failure.

The backup and restore strategy for SAP SNC consists of two parts, as follows:

● Backup and restore coverage for each component (see table below)

● Cross-system data dependencies and handling

The backup and restore strategy for your system landscape should not only consider SAP systems but should also be embedded in overall business requirements and incorporate your company’s entire process flow.

In addition, the backup and restore strategy must cover disaster recovery processes, such as the loss of a data center through fire. It is most important in this context that you ensure that backup devices are not lost together with normal data storage (separation of storage locations).

Based on the type of application data contained in a component, we have introduced a categorization scheme for system components that can be used to analyze the backup requirements of any system component and to easily determine an appropriate backup method for this component. The following table contains a component list for your solution and the appropriate Categories of System Components for Backup & Restore.

Online Backup

The data contained in the database can be backed up online; however, it is not possible to do the same for the runtime infrastructure. An online backup refers to the system landscape and not the databases that contain the business-critical application, or the infrastructure components.

NoteIf you perform a backup while the server is running, open files may not be backed up.

6.4.1 Backup and Restore for SAP SCM Basis and SCMB PLUS

A backup and recovery for SAP SCM Basis and SCMB PLUS has to be done together with the applications using SAP SCM Basis (for example, SAP SNC).

6.4.2 Backup and Restore for SAP SNC

SAP NetWeaver Process Integration (SAP NetWeaver PI) makes sure that messages are correctly processed between the ERP system and SAP SNC, or between SAP SNC and SAP APO, even if a system must be recovered. Messages are neither lost nor sent twice.

An XML message that could not be sent to SAP SNC remains in the outbound queue to SAP SNC. To view unsuccessful XML messages, use the Runtime Workbench of the SAP NetWeaver PI system (preferable tool) or the transaction SXMB_MONI. Messages can have the status Not OK or OK. If the SAP NetWeaver PI system sets the status to OK, it is still possible that the message is hanging in the outbound queue of the SAP NetWeaver PI system.

For more information, see Process Integration (Function-Oriented-View) for your SAP NetWeaver release on SAP

Help Portal at help.sap.com/nwpi . In Process Integration (Function-Oriented-View), choose Integration Engine Monitoring the Integration Engine .

For short timespans (you can define the duration), the system automatically tries to resend the message. If the system times out, you have to manually trigger the message transfer.

If the outbound queue has stopped, you must restart it. After a system recovery, you should check whether there is a message waiting to be resent to SAP SNC.

For messages from SAP SNC to the SAP NetWeaver PI system, the situation is similar. After an SAP NetWeaver PI recovery or an SAP SNC recovery, there may be unsent messages in the SAP SNC outbound queue. You can use transaction SXMB_MONI to resend these messages, if necessary.

The system makes sure that messages are not lost or sent twice from the ERP system or the SAP APO system to the SAP NetWeaver PI system. Since messages are not automatically resent if the systems time out or go down, you should use the ALE monitor to check whether messages need to be resent after a system time-out or recovery. If there are messages in the inbound queues of one of the components, they are automatically processed. In addition, after system restart, the queues also automatically restart as well.

For the backup of scenarios using SAP SNC, you have to back up the components involved in the respective scenario.

6.4.3 Backup and Restore for SAP Internet Graphics Service (IGS)

The SAP IGS does not contain any persistent application data. Therefore, you only need to back up the IGS itself and the configuration files.

Depending on where the IGS is installed, you have the following options for backup and recovery:

1. Installation on Web AS

If you have installed the IGS on the Web AS, you have two options for backup and recovery, as follows:

1. Make a backup of all files of the IGS installation using operating system tools. You can recover the IGS by using your backup.

2. Make a backup of all files in the conf directory of the IGS installation. For a recovery, reinstall the IGS and copy all files from the conf directory back to the conf directory.

2. Standalone Installation on Microsoft Windows Server

If you have installed the IGS on a standalone Microsoft Windows server, you have two options for backup and recovery, as follows:

1. Make a backup of all files of the IGS installation. For a recovery, restore the IGS files and restart the IGS service in Microsoft Windows using command igswdserv –i in the bin directory of the installation directory.

2. Make a backup of all files in the conf directory of the IGS installation. For a recovery, reinstall the IGS and copy all files from the conf directory back to the conf directory.

6.5 Application Copy

Homogeneous System Copy

For a homogeneous system copy of SAP Supply Network Collaboration the standard procedures of SAP NetWeaver apply.

For more information about system copies, see the section about Solution Life Cycle Management in the Technical

Operations Manual for SAP NetWeaver 7.5 on SAP Help Portal at help.sap.com/nw75 under System Administration and Maintenance Information.

Heterogeneous System Copy

Heterogeneous system copies for SAP SNC are currently supported on request and on a project basis. For more

information, see SAP Note 543715 . More details and forms are available under service.sap.com/osdbmigration

.

NoteA client copy from one system into another system with a different operating system or database is not an alternative to a complete heterogeneous migration. For example, client copies do not ensure that all repository changes are taken over into the new system. Therefore, if you want to change your SAP SNC database or application server platform, a heterogeneous system copy is the only procedure that ensures full data replication into the new system.

NoteAfter a system copy, the connections between the systems as well as the system identifiers in the business configuration of the SAP NetWeaver PI system must be corrected to reflect the copies instead of the original systems

6.6 Periodic Tasks

6.6.1 Scheduled Periodic Tasks

This chapter describes all automatable tasks required to run periodically to keep the application running smoothly over time. Such tasks may be required on component level and are therefore relevant in each scenario that uses the component. You can find the mapping in the Scenario/Component Matrix [page 10] section above. Other tasks may be relevant for certain business scenarios only. It is important that you monitor the successful execution of these tasks on a regular basis.

6.6.1.1 Scheduled Periodic Tasks for SAP SNC

The following are scheduled periodic tasks for all SAP SNC processes:

NoteThese tasks do not affect the availability of the system. Before running the tasks, you must be sure that the data you are deleting is obsolete. If the data is obsolete, the sequence of deletion is not relevant. The periodic tasks can be restarted.

As of SAP SNC 7.0, SAP delivers new functions through enhancement packages. With SAP enhancement packages, you can install and activate new functions driven by your business needs without performing a system upgrade. The enhancement package installation requires two different tools – SAP Solution Manager Maintenance Optimizer and the Enhancement Package Installation tool.

As before, corrections are available in Support Packages. SAP provides Support Packages on a regular basis during the defined maintenance period. In parallel, SAP provides equivalent Support Packages for enhancement packages. You must install parts of the enhancement packages in combination with the latest available Support Packages. This approach reduces installation, modification adjustment, and testing effort. Using this strategy, SAP enhancement packages can be installed as a normal maintenance activity together with Support Packages.

For more information about system landscape and installation, see the Master Guide for SAP SNC 7.0 Including
