Administrative Accomplishments

Chaired College’s Mission and Strategic Planning Committee and worked in aligning budgetary decisions with strategic goals.

Developed brand identity for College and served as co-chair on the Rebranding Task Force for the University.

Involved in Working Groups in developing the University Strategic Plan with focus on building identity and brand value.

Worked across university entities in developing the logo, theme and media plan, as well as, creative executions for the University’s 50th Anniversary celebration.

Led department and college in preparation for AACSB team re-accreditation visit as well as implementing assurance of learning measures in the marketing curriculum at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The College was reaccredited in 2014 for another 5 years.

Developed a brand identity for the department that included signage, development of collateral materials, 8 alumni videos, advising guides, revision of the website and promotional products as well as community outreach resulting in increased enrollment by 30% in the Marketing program and 27% in the Sports & Entertainment Marketing program. Initiated and developed social media outlets for the department with Facebook, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Twitter and Instagram to build community with alumni, students and faculty.

Championed experiential learning opportunities and business collaborations through development of the “The Store” a student run retail laboratory and the Marketing Resource Center, as well as partnerships with the General Motors Internship program, American Advertising Federation National Student Advertising competition and client projects with for profit and not for profit businesses.

Spear-headed program development of the Hospitality Management Program at the Palm Desert campus and International Business at the San Bernardino campus.

Worked across disciplines and with community and industry partners in developing the Call Center Training program, a self-support certificate program.

Hosted fundraising events resulting in endowing two department scholarships. Oversaw student chapter of American Marketing Association received the top club award for the

University as well as wining 3rd in a national competition among American Marketing Association clubs.

Initiated and developed in collaboration with faculty, new department guidelines for Retention, Promotion and Tenure.

Initiated and led department in the reorganization of course offerings eliminating courses and program offerings with low student demand.

Recruited and mentored faculty in retention, tenure and promotion endeavors.

Other Accomplishments

Online and Distance Learning Received the ODL Teaching Award in 2011 for excellence in online instruction. Developed online MBA in Marketing. Developed online course offerings on image and advertising for a commercial entity. Conducted surveys regarding marketing MBA program and modified course delivery from online to

traditional and hybrid.

International Education Recipient of Fulbright Senior Fellowship for a year of research and teaching in Romania (2002-2003) Recipient of Fulbright Specialist Award for International Marketing (2009) Recipient of Fulbright Specialist Award for Advertising (2005) Received three (3) Visiting Professorships with Alexander I. Cuza University, Iasi, Romania2006, 2008,

and 2011 Developed 2+2, 2+1+1, and 3+1 programs with China-based universities. Facilitated study abroad experiences to Ireland and Costa Rica.

Research Published over 100 peer-reviewed journal articles and proceedings, 5 books, and 2 book chapters. Awarded over $40,000 in grants and in-kind monies including a CIBER grant.

Teaching Developed and implemented first student retail laboratory (“The Store”) as a part of the merchandising

curriculum with monetary and in-kind donations. Developed and implemented a shadow program in Fashion Merchandising curriculum with area

businesses. Developed and implemented the Marketing Resource Facility with monetary and in-kind donations. Employed the Vector Program for Professional Selling and Sales Mgmt Courses. Introduced client-based projects in advertising and marketing courses with such companies as JC

Penney, San Bernardino 66ers baseball team, American Express, and YMCA Participated in the General Motors Internship Program Participated in the AAF National Student Advertising Competition. Teams placed 3rd -twice in the

Community Served as President (twice) and on the board of the American Advertising Federation, Inland Empire

Chapter Fundraised and implemented first annual scholarship for local affiliate of the American Advertising

Federation. Developed and implemented first Media Auction to raise funds for the club. Inaugural event raised

Initiated internship program and educational programs for high schools and universities. Initiated annual scholarship program for Community Colleges and Universities in the Inland Empire. Took the club from being in the red financially to being in the black through implementation of first media auction which raised $8,000 for the club. Through effective programs and events raised membership from 29 to 110 in a one year period. During my tenure as president the club won third place nationally for Advertising Education. During the second media auction the event raised $10,000.
