    WL = Wehrmacht-Luftwaffe

    SS = Waffen SS, SS Wachverbnde

    OT = Organization Todt

    Pol = Polizei

    DR = Deutsche Reichsbahn

    RP = Reichspost

    Each Wehrkreis/Luftgaukommando/Kriegsmarine Kommando had a range of license numbers available which were given out to the various subordinated units

    Note that these numbers were just used at the peace garrisons of the units. As soon as the units transferred to the front they received new numbers. These could go up to 7 digits after the letters.
