From the White House The Duporth Tavern Old Mal Rally and Qld Titles was held on the 31st August and what an amazing line up of surfers and classic old mals turned up all having a big day out at The Bluff. All of the heats were like finals in both the juniors and senior divisions. The standard of traditional old mal surfing was amazing and as good as it gets anywhere. The D fin division was also hotly contested and it was just unreal to watch those classic old boards being ridden and some of them would have been out there some 55 odd years ago is such a vital part of our local surfing history. All the winners were presented their special embroided jackets at the presentations at The Duporth Tavern that night which was hilarious as always. The Mystery Final had a quality line up as well with the overall Loser being declared the overall Winner with lots of silly prizes he will cherish forever. Thanks to everyone involved in making the event happen especially all the Alex Club members who helped out setting up, judging and bringing down some extra old boards for people to use in the event . The Jack Boast Junior Longboard Classic was held at The Bluff on the 14th August with lots of enthusiasm and energy displayed by all the competitors in all divisions with most competitors surfing multiple divisions. The format had all of them surf heats the reps then semis and then finals so they all had plenty of surfs to wear themselves out. Fantastic to see Josh Constable multiple World Longboard Champion who won the event in 1994 there with his 2 sons and The Boast Family was well represented on the day and helped out with the presentations of trophies with 2 of the coasts Surfing Royalty in Hayden Kenny and Gary Kong Elkerton who both gave great speeches of encouragement to all the young competitors and thanks to everyone in The Alex Mal Club who helped out for their tireless efforts that made the event so successful. We hope all members have seen the emails re Alex Cycleway that Stocky has sent out in regard to plans to take away car parking along Alexandra Pde so last week with support from Fiona Simpson MP and our local Cr John Connolly and The Alex Surf Club we had a good meeting with Transport and Main Roads so please we all need to rally together in protest of this proposal. The QPES (Queensland Police Emergency Games) are on the Tuesday the 8th and Wednesday the 9th of October which is a surfing event at Alex or Maroochydore which we are supporting through Paul Tuckett so if any club members can assist in judging and tallying and supporting the event and as its good for the club to support our Paramedics and Firemen as well as the Police especially after the effort they all put in with the Tragic bush fires this coast recently suffered Keep your fins wet. From the President of Vice Hey All Alex Longboarders, The Annual AHMC 9 hole par 3 Golf Classic is nearly upon us so dust of your clubs and get your stubby holders out! This year’s date will be Sunday the 10th of November at Glenview Par three Course. Current title holder Barry “Croc” Coulter is keen to defend his title from last year that went down to the wire with a playoff hole with Terry Berrigan and what finish it was. This is a great afternoon and a chance to meet and spend time with other members out of the water and have a few beers and a feed .Please let myself or Ferret know if your keen so we can arrange supplies. Ferret 5443 1598 Maxy 0488 055 513 Pics from last year’s golf day. On a surfing note entries are open now for next year’s Noosa Festival of Surfing, it would be great to see some more of our members have a go and represent our club. Our November comp is on this Sunday the 29th hope to see everyone there. Cheers Maxy

Hello Long boarders, August Comp Day. Sunday 25th August, as scheduled. Which worked out well, because the next weekend Father's Sunday's surf was flat, with the Old Mal Rally being held on Saturday the day before. The morning started off with occasional 2ft sets and clean with light NW winds. Mid morning the winds became stronger, with choppy waves. Conditions were challenging, near the end of the comp, with committed surfing to the end of the comp. We held six 9 foot heats, one Ladies, and five Old Mal heats. 8 foot division was cancelled due to conditions. 2019 Old Mal Rally. Saturday 10th August, comp day got rescheduled, and then held on Saturday 31st August. The winds swung SW overnight, giving improved conditions. Thank goodness for that didn't want the Old Mal Rally cancelled again. Starting with 1 to 2ft SE swell and SW winds. Sometimes long waits between sets, with everyone getting a few waves. The conditions did deteriorate near the end of the comp. It was good to see all competitors being involved and seeing their progressions etc. Most competitors got 3 heats with some finalise getting 4. Old Mal results. Juniors. 1st Justin Healy. 2nd Riley Thomson. 3rd Luke Potter. 4th Dallas Rogers. 5th Nic Edgerton. 6th Alex Bullpit.

2019 Jack Boast Memorial Junior longboard Competition. Saturday 14th September. Good waves for the juniors, with the occasional 2ft sets, with some nice peeler’s in the early morning heats. Near the end of the comp wind condition changed more easterly. The Junior competitors surfing was of high standard, some of the best in Australia. They make it look so easy. All the juniors got lots of surfs in, so they should have sleep well that night. It was a great junior comp with good support from other Clubs and parents Thank You. Jack Boast Results. From the Treasurer

Hi crew, had a great last couple of months with the Old Mal Rally and Jack Boast Memorial, heaps of great people having fun together. Have finally submitted the acquittal for the gambling community benefit fund. As a committee we have learned some valuable things along the way to ensure our next application will be more to the cent to maximise the benefits of these great offers available to clubs. We are now starting to think about the next things to add to our next application, hopefully looking at ways to nurture our youth in competition, judging and so on. If anybody has any ideas please feel free to let us know, so that we can make note for the next time around. Looking forward to seeing you all next comp. That’s all from me for now. See ya in the Salt, Cath

From the Secretary Everybody else has said it all, Cheers, Stocky.
