Un ivers ity . I am seek ing a summer internsh ip in new York c ity at an arch itecture f irm

that is on the forefront of des ign ing , fabr icat ing , and complet ing bu i lt projects with

h igh soph ist icat ion and carefully calculated deta ils .

Des ign ing , 3d pr int ing , and fabr icat ing are my spec ialt i es as I am part of the

maker generat ion . I have exper i ence with cnc mach ines , laser cutters , z-corp 3d pr inters , and many open source abs 3d pr inters . i developed a des ire to research advancements

in construct ion pract ices with 3d pr inters because i am part of a research team that

has constructed a large-scale 3d pr inter , the v i lla bot 1 . 0 . My current stud io , led by

sasa z ivkov ic , constructed a work ing 3d pr inter with a bu i ld volume of 7 ’ -0 ’ ’ x 7 ’ -0 ’ ’ x

6 ’ -6 ’ ’ . It has successfully pr inted with a one of a k ind 2-part foam solut ion and We are

currently des ign ing v i llas to explore des ign potent ials with large scale 3d pr inters .

Research in construct ion methodology will advance the pract ice of arch itecture and

generate new forms that der ive from the ir method of fabr icat ion .

After my prev ious summer internsh ip , I knew I wanted to become a DES IGNER . My

stud i es at Cornell include curta in wall technology , d ig ital fabr icat ion , geograph-

ical informat ion systems mapp ing , curat ing arch itecture , and value in real estate

des ign . Th is d iverse arch itecture curr iculum has presented me the d i fferent paths in

arch itecture and its related d isc ipl ines . These classes gave me the sk i lls to be a

well-rounded des igner capable of solv ing any arch itectural problem .

schoolhouse for 150 students i n petit-goave (haiti ) . Th is pole barn

structure ut i l izes a reverse trombe wall system to pass ively cool the

bu i ld ings so as to create comfortable thermal env ironments . The struc-

ture is opt im ized to accommodate the dynamic seasonal and solar cond it ions

through shad ing and fenestrat ion un its . Th is des ign follows a s imple gr id so

the modular can be adapted to s ite cond it ions .

us ing the following : laser cutter , cnc machine , AND 3d printing .

The f inal model i s constructed out of alum inum flash ing that was cnc cut .

the flat sheets were folded and riveted to the 3 ’ -0 ’ ’ modules OF 25 SHEETS .

one day , the fratern ity s ign outs ide the ‘ sammy ’ house d isappeared and

i immed iately took act ion to replace it with a cnc carved wooden plaque .

planks of cyprus wood are cut into 2 ’ ’ x 2 ’ ’ x 36 ’ ’ sect ions and lam inated

together . the wood undergoes fly cuts to smooth the front and back plane .

then The cnc m ill performs 2-ax is and 3-ax is toolpaths with dr i ll b its vary-

ing in s ize from 1/2 ’ ’ to 1/ 16 ’ ’ . i programmed the ent ire m i ll ing sequence us ing

the g-code software , rh inocam . The plaque is f in ished with golden oak sta in , and treated with spar urethane to last for many years .

class . The project cons isted of a large amount of research on a Structural

system that a prev ious group has not modeled before . we dec ided to model

Foster + Partners’ Fortaleza HalL wh ich was completed in 20 10 in Wis-

cons in . The Model we bu i lt was bu i lt at 1 :72 ” scale and incorporates an ac-

curate structural system of the roof , with its cladd ing removed to expose

the structure .
