Das im Jahr 1988 gegründete und seit 1996 inKirchberg/Hunsrück ansässige Unternehmen hatsich bereits frühzeitig auf die Entwicklung undProduktion wasserbasierter ULTRALUBE® Wachs-additive spezialisiert, mit deren Hilfe eineVerbesserung bzw. Modifizierung der Oberflächen-eigenschaften von wässrigen Beschichtungssyste-men wie etwa Druckfarben, Lacken, Lasuren undPflegemitteln erzielt wird.

Das mit modernsten Meß- und Prüfmitteln ausge-stattete Entwicklungslabor ermöglicht eine einge-hende Charakterisierung der ULTRALUBE®

Wachsadditive sowie eine Bestimmung der durchden Einsatz dieser Wachsadditive modifiziertenOberflächeneigenschaften. Hierzu verfügt dasLabor über folgende Geräte und Methoden:

■ Abriebfestigkeit (Quartant, Sutherland, Taber)■ Bestimmung stat./dyn. Reibungskoeffizient■ Thermoanalyse (DSC)■ Photometer■ Brookfield-Viskosimeter■ Lichtmikroskop■ Partikelgrößenmeßgerät (3 nm - 6 µm)■ UV-Trocknungsgerät■ Flexodruckmaschine

Um eine zügige Übertragung von Neuentwicklun-gen vom Labor- in den Produktionsmaßstab zugewährleisten, steht eine Reihe Emulgierkesselunterschiedlicher Volumina für Upscaling-Zweckezur Verfügung.

Die derzeitige Produktionskapazität der Anlagenliegt bei einem Ausstoß von 120 t wasserbasierterWachsadditive pro Tag.

KEIM-ADDITEC Surface GmbH, founded in 1988and located in Kirchberg/Germany since 1996, hasspecialized very early in the development andproduction of water based ULTRALUBE® waxadditives in order to achieve an improvement ormodification of surface properties of waterycoating formulations like printing inks, overprintvarnishes, lacquers, wood stains and polishes.

The well equiped developing laboratory facilitatesa detailed characterisation of the ULTRALUBE®

wax additives itself as well as a determination ofthe surface properties of a coating influenced bytheir usage.The following equipment and methods are at thelaboratories disposal:

■ abrasion resistance measurement■ dyn./static coefficient of friction determination■ differential scanning colorimetry■ photometer■ Brookfield viscometer■ light microscopy■ particle sizer (3 nm - 6 µm)■ UV-curing unit■ flexo printing machine

In order to achieve a fast transfer of new develop-ments from lab into production scale a number ofemusification vessels of different volumes areavailable.

The current production capacity of the plant is atapprox. 120 t of water based wax additives per day.
