Fundación Educación – In a Nutshell

Our vision There are a multitude of talented youth living in the poor districts of Latin America that do not have the means to develop their abilities. Fundación Educación aims at turning these young people into successful entrepreneurs, managers or specialists in their field and at enhancing their dedication to society.

We believe in the transforming power of:• a first class education;• an ethical compass; and• an effective social network.

Scholarship programs in Latin America

Fundación Educación achieves its goals with the following tools:• scholarship programs in Perú, Colombia, El Salvador and Guatemala in the fields of economy/

business and technology;• close monitoring, guidance and support of the academic and personal development of its scholars;• active networking via its local alumni organizations.

Excellence and strong sense of responsibility

Preconditions for a Fundación Educación scholarship are:• an excellent academic track record;• provenience from a low-income family;• pro-activeness, persistence, and a high degree of social responsibility.

Compromiso de Honor

All of our scholars undertake a moral obligation to repay their scholarship, in accordance with their economic possibilities, once they have graduated.

Swiss Foundation with local presence

The Foundation is managed by a dedicated group of Swiss professionals (the Foundation Board) operating on a pro bono basis.

In Latin America, Fundación Educación closely cooperates with: • highly respected personalities in our local committees; and• a selected group of ten local partner universities and colleges.

You can count on the following:• a successful track record of more than 21 years (approx. 890 granted scholarships, 760 successful graduates, and, currently, 125 scholars);• an efficient cooperation with a highly motivated Foundation Board;• professional and committed local committees with long-term experience; • a targeted and efficient use of funds;• an opportunity for the creation and strengthening of networks (to local brain pools, our partner universities and colleges, our Swiss partners, etc.);• periodical and competent professional reporting.

Currently, the average cost for a scholarship amounts to USD 4’500 per student per year or USD 21’000 for a full-time course of study.
