Quecksilber-Hochdruck-Lampe DRS
1.Anwendung

Einschalten soll keine 6 min.
die Lampe ДРШ-500M und 205V für die Lampe ДРШ-1000.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
I. APPLICATION
The superhigh-pressure quartz spherical mercury lamps, type,U,P[X, are powerful concentrated sources of radiation in the vi-sible and ultra-violet spectrum range.
The lamps are intended for use in optical equipments and forlaboratory research.
I I . SPECIFICATIONS
The lamps, type [PIII, are intended for operation on 127 VA.C. (lamps APIII-250-3) and on 220 y A.C. (lamps APIII-500Mand APIII-1000) in series with chokes. During the f irst l0 tol5 minutes after switching-on electr ical parameters of the lampsvary (unstable peri'od) and then become constant at supplyvoltage.
Electr ical parameters of the lamps operating in an A.C. circuitand their dimensions are given in Table I and Fig. l .

I I I . CONSTRUCTION AND PRINCIPLE OF OPERATION
The lamp, type ! ,PII I , is a spherical bulb made of quartzglass, with two main electrodes sealed into the bulb. The elec-trodes are arranged dia, metrically opposite to each other at adistance of 3.9 to 4.5 tnm. An auxiliary electrode sealed into thebulb si'de facilitates lamp ignition. The bulb is fril led with astrictly a,ccurate amount of mercury and argon. An arc dischargeoccurs in mercury vapour, producing a high degree of brightness.A schernatic diagrarm for connecting the lamp to an A.C. circuitis shown in Fig. 2.
The lamps are started by a magneto (with a spark length ofl5 to 20 mrn) which is engaged by push-button switch K for aperiod of not over I minute. After an arc discharge takes placebetween the current-carrying electrodes, the magneto is disen-gaged.
A lead from the magneto should be connected to the auxiiiaryelectrode base.

IV. SAFETY RULES
The fitting body should be grounded, and electrical connec'tions should ensure reliable contact.
The bulb is attached by lugs or bases of current-carryingelectrodes.
The bulb can operate in a restricted space (enclosure) provi-ded the size of the enclosure and its ventilation are that the airtemperature measured at a distance of 6 crn lrom the sides, doesnot exceed +250'C (steady condit ions). An interval requiredin-between repeated switchings does not exceed 6 minutes.
The quartz glass of the bulb readily loses its transparency ifdirty. Therefore, it is necessary to wipe the bulb with a piece ofcotton-wool soaked in alcohol each time it was touched by handsor soi led with dust.
