Dutch die Mitauf- nahme einer grossen Anzahl yon Begriffen und Synonyma, die im systematischen Tell nicht beriicksichtigt waren, hat sich die Zahl der Stichworte auf etwa 5.000 erh6ht. Jedes Stichwort ist mit einer Schltisselzahl versehen, die dem seit Jahren beim Gmelin Institut bew/ihrten System der Klassifizierung der Begriffe entspricht. Diese Schliisselzahlen eignen sich gleichzeitig als Grundlage fiir automatische Dokumentationsverfahren. Der Band enthiilt neben dem deutschen" Verzeichnis auch einen englischen Index mit den entsprechenden Schltisselzahlen. About 15o papers will be presented on all phases of analytical chemistry and spectroscopy. A symposium entitled New Frontiers in Optics and Spectroscopy will be sponsored jointly by the Pittsburgh Conference and the Optical Society of America. Original papers are invited on all phases of analytical chemistry, spectroscopy, and nucleonics applied to analysis. The final date for receipt of abstracts is October 15, 1960. Two abstracts should be submitted in triplicate. The first abstract should be limited to 15o words to be printed in the program. The second abstract should be of approximately 500 words to help the Program Com- mittee evaluate and classify the paper. A letter sent with the abstracts should list the names of authors, laboratory in which the work was done, and the current addresses of the authors.
