ABOUT THE INSTITUTION The Institution, as is well known, is the brain child of our first Chancellor, Rev. Padmabushan, Padmashri Dr. T. S. Avinashilingam Ayya Avl., an epitome of simplicity, grace and Gandhian ideals, whose vision had paved way for concrete women’s empowerment through education. Coupled with the selfless and sacrificial efforts of our former Chancellor and the doyen of Home Science, Dr. Rajammal P. Devadas, whose unstinted initiatives had led us to scale higher, our University has touched still higher peaks – receiving Category ‘A’ and ‘A+’ Grade from MHRD and NAAC respectively which stand testimony to it The institute was initiated with less number of students, but now it has grown educating more than 7,000 students. Focus on achieving wholesome academic experience from the view point of geocentric inclusive education, we are offering ‘Holistic Education’ to women students. Inculcating value based educa-tion, scientific temper, social and citizenship roles, professional / technical skills, mentoring and honing individual potentials, vocational training, pruning entrepreneurial skills, sharpening manageri-al acumen, exposure to special education and physical education – all with an eye on developing the students’ intellectual, technical, social and emotional well being – were well managed through the Programmes / Courses offered by the seven faculties and the 34 departments therein (formal stream). The institute scales higher under the untiring efforts of Dr. T.S.K. Meenakshisundaram, Managing Trustee, Padma Shri. Dr. P. R. Krishna Kumar, Chancellor and Dr. Premavathy Vijayan, Vice Chancellor, Dr. S. Kowsalya Registrar. ABOUT NAACThe NATIONAL ASSESSMENT AND ACCREDITATION COUNCIL (NAAC) is an autonomous institution of University Grants Commission which conducts assessment and accreditation of Higher Educational Institutions (HEI) such as colleges, universities or other recognized institutions to derive an understanding of the ‘Quality Status’ of the institution. NAAC envisions to make quality the defining element of higher education in India through a combination of self and external quality evaluation, promotion and sustenance initiatives. For this purpose,NAAC evaluates the institutions for its conformance to the standards of quality in terms of its performance related to the educational processes and outcomes, curriculum coverage, teaching-learning processes, faculty, research, infrastructure, learning resources, organisation, governance, financial well being and student services.ABOUT THE WORKSHOPA two-day national workshop on “Quality assessment and accreditation under revised accreditation framework” proclaims to emphasize the importance of NAAC accreditation. In the process or accreditation, there is a quintessential need for clarity in preparation and submission of SSR with effective documentation skills. Cutting through the submission of SSR, the institutions also require guidance for effective preparation and presentation during Peer team visit which will be addressed during the workshop.
OBJECTIVES OF THE WORKSHOPTo understand the revised accreditation frame work/ To highlight about the key features of the revised accreditation frame work• To mentor the nearby colleges which are Non accredited by NAAC• To clarify the doubts of accredited colleges regarding seven criteria• To help the participants in preparation of self study report effectively• To share the experiences of the colleges/institutions accredited under RAF• To highlight the objectives and functions of IQAC and the bench marks associated there to.
PARTICIPANTS Principals, Vice Principals, Deans, IQAC Directors/Coordinators, Experts (academic and administrative) from the fields of Higher Education and Accreditation, representatives of Quality Councils and Senior Faculty members. Faculty members who are interested also can attend .
ABOUT INTERNAL QUALITY ASSURANCE CELL To ensure quality enhancement and sustenance and to make quality an inherent aspect of the institution, the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) was constituted in May 2003. IQAC functions as a nodal center for initiating quality measures in various facets of Institutional activities.The important activities of IQAC are • Digitalization of Institutions academic and administrative activities • Student feedback through 24x7 access• Annual Student Survey• Academic and Administrative Audit
