In Hamburg drehten Ina Mller (bekannt aus "Inas Nacht") und Bjarne Mdel ("Der Tatortreiniger") im ARCOTEL Onyx fr "Das NDR Fernsehen wird 50": Vom kuscheligen Bett aus kommentierten sie die besten, wichtigsten und kuriosesten TV-Ereignisse. In Wien wurde unterdessen die Event-Reihe "WIEN.MUSIK IM WIMBERGER" geboren. As the year is coming to an end we can look back on a successful 2015. There were many highlights at ARCOTEL: creative bar concepts were implemented in Berlin Mitte with the Velvet Pop Up bars "Tu Salud" and "Vermteria El Pulpo". In Hamburg, Ina Mller (familiar from "Ina's Night") and Bjarne Mdel ("The crime scene cleaner") shot in ARCOTEL Onyx for "NDR television turns 50": from a cosy bed they commented on the best, most important and strangest TV events. In the meantime, the "WIEN.MUSIK AT WIMBERGER" event series was born. The new Viennese music scene honours ARCOTEL Wimberger with its presence on a monthly basis, with acts such as "Christoph & Lollo" and "Ernst Molden & Der Nino aus Wien".

And looking forward we predict a lot of verve and vigour in the New Year too! ... diese eine Songzeile der jungen, aufstrebenden Band "Wiener Blond" besingt eine Hass-Liebeserklrung an sterreichs Bundeshauptstadt. Um 1800 ist das Genre "Wienerlied" entstanden und hat seit jeher ein inhaltliches Thema: Wien und seine skurrilen Bewohner. Die Musikgattung erlebt nun wieder einen regelrechten Aufschwung, aber nicht in ihrer ursprnglichen Form. Junge Knstler interpretieren ihre Texte, gespickt von schwarzem Humor und Augenzwinkern, mit neuen Klngen. Seit September findet sich die Crme de la Crme der Wiener Szene im WIMBERGERs wia z'Haus ein, um das neue Wienerlied hochleben zu lassen. Die Idee kam von ARCOTEL Wimberger Hoteldirektor Alexander Csurda. In Zusammenarbeit mit Walter Grbchen, Journalist und Label-Frontmann von monkey., entstand ein einzigartiges Konzept, indem die Verbindung einer urigen Location mit kulinarisch exzellenten Speisen und den hrenswertesten Musikern der Stadt hergestellt wird.

Durch das spezielle Programm ergibt sich keine "normale" Konzertsituation. Der Kontakt zwischen den Knstlern und dem Publikum ist locker und unverkrampft, meist wird akustisch dargeboten. Intimer werden sich manche Stars der lokalen Wiener Szene kaum erleben lassen. Das bewies der Opening-Abend mit dem kreativen Duo "Wiener Blond" am 29. September 2015. Verena Doublier und Sebastian Radon befrderten mit ihren satirischen Texten und Beatbox-Kapriolen das einst traditionelle Wienerlied in stratosphrische Hhen. Das Line-up der Veranstaltungsreihe kann sich sehen lassen. Eine groe Bandbreite an musikalischem Genuss liefern u.a. die Formationen "Worried Man & Worried Boy", "Sterzinger Solo", "Christoph & Lollo" oder "Ernst Molden & Der Nino aus Wien". ... this line from one of the world's best-known songs about Vienna in the version by the young, up-and-coming band "Wiener Blond" is a declaration of love mixed with hate to the Austrian capital. The Wienerlied is a genre that developed in Vienna around 1800 and it has always had just one subject: Vienna and its cantankerous but loveable inhabitants. This traditional Viennese type of folk song is currently enjoying a renaissance, but not in its original form. Young musicians are interpreting their texts in a way that is full of black humour and with a sly wink and a new sound. Since September, the crme de la crme of the Viennese music scene have been meeting at WIMBERGERs wia z'Haus to celebrate the new Wienerlied. The project was the brainchild of the ARCOTEL Wimberger hotel director Alexander Csurda. Together with Walter Grbchen, a journalist and the label frontman from monkey. Music, the hotel developed a unique concept that combines an authentically Viennese atmosphere with excellent cuisine and presents some of the most interesting musicians in the city.

Because of the special nature of the programme, the musical evenings are not "concerts" in the conventional sense. Contact between the musicians and the audience is relaxed and casual, and most of the performances are unplugged. Audiences are unlikely to ever hear many of the local Viennese stars in a more intimate setting. That was certainly proved by the opening evening featuring the creative duo "Wiener Blond" on 29 September 2015. Verena Doublier and Sebastian Radon took the once-traditional Wienerlied to stratospheric heights with their satirical texts and beatbox capers. The line-up of the event series is pretty impressive, with bands such as "Worried Man & Worried Boy", "Christoph & Lollo" or "Ernst Molden & Der Nino aus Wien" providing something for a wide range of musical tastes. POP UP BAR EL PULPO"BAR RAVAL" MEETS VELVET

W er in Berlin auf der Suche nach erstklassigen Drinks ist, wird in der Pop-Up-Bar "El Pulpo" voll auf seine Kosten kommen. Schauspieler Daniel Brhl und Atilano Gonzlez, Betreiber der Kreuzberger "Bar Raval", liefern die Tapas dazu.

Im ARCOTEL Velvet Berlin poppte im September die dritte temporre Bar auf: Das "El Pulpo" bietet Tapas, Wermut und Bier. Statt Standard-Drinks stehen unter anderem Craft Spirits und Beer auf der Karte, also handgemachte Spirituosen und Biere. Ergnzt werden die Drinks durch Tapas von der Kreuzberger "Bar Raval".

Wermut erobert derzeit die Bars der Metropolen: Obwohl der bitterse Aperitif in Form von Martini und Cinzano schon lnger auf dem Markt ist und es sich bei dem vergorenen Rebensaft mit Wurzeln, Rinden, Blten und diversen Smitteln eigentlich im weitesten Sinn um Wein handelt, lassen sich einzigartige geschmackliche Erlebnisse kreieren.

Im "El Pulpo" knnen Gste kreative Cocktail-Variationen probieren und entdecken, was man alles aus dem Aperitif rausholen kann: z.B. mit dem "Capsicums Martini", einem Cocktail, bestehend aus Gin Sul, gelbem Paprika-Sirup, Belsazar Ros und Zitronenzeste, oder mit dem "Remember Tu Salud", einem Cocktail aus Belsazar Ros, Mezcal, Limette und Agave.

Bei der Erffnungsfeier im September 2015 konnten sich die Gste bei Hip-Hop-Beats und Tapas durch die Wermut-Spezialitten aus Spanien, Frankreich, Italien und sterreich kosten.

Mit dem "El Pulpo" hat das Berliner ARCOTEL Velvet bereits das dritte Pop-up-Konzept umgesetzt beim vorhergehenden Konzept "Tu Salud" standen mexikanische Mezcal-Spezialitten im Mittelpunkt der Bar. Noch bis Ende 2015 knnen sich Besucher der Szene-Bar ber Tapas und Wermut freuen, dann wird das nchste Bar-Konzept umgesetzt.

A nyone in Berlin looking for first-class drinks will be spoiled for choice at the El Pulpo pop-up bar. Actor Daniel Brhl and Atilano Gonzlez, who run the Bar Raval in Kreuzberg, supply the tapas.

The third temporary bar at the ARCOTEL Velvet Berlin popped up in September: The El Pulpo offers tapas, vermouth and beer. Instead of standard drinks, the menu includes craft spirits and beer, i.e. homemade spirits and beers. And tapas from the Bar Raval in Kreuzberg provide the perfect accompaniment to the drinks.

Vermouth is currently taking city bars by storm: Although the bitter-sweet aperitif has already been on the market for a long time in the form of Martini and Cinzano, and the fermented grape juice with roots, bark, blossoms and various sweeteners is actually wine in the broadest sense, it is still possible to create unique flavour experiences.

Guests at El Pulpo can sample a range of creative cocktail variations and discover just what you can get out of the aperitif, e.g. with the Capsicums Martini, a cocktail made of Gin Sul, yellow paprika syrup, Belsazar ros and lemon zest or the Remember Tu Salud, a cocktail made of Belsazar ros, mezcal, lime and agave.

At the opening party in September 2015 guests sampled their way through vermouth specialities from Spain, France, Italy and Austria accompanied by hip-hop beats and tapas.

The El Pulpo is already the third pop-up concept to be realised at the ARCOTEL Velvet in Berlin the previous concept, Tu Salud, focused on Mexican mezcal specialities. Guests can enjoy the trendy bar over tapas and vermouth until the end of 2015, when the next bar concept will be implemented.

Wer im "Bird" 250 Gramm bestes Rindfleisch aus der Pfanne oder gegrillt, eingepackt in Toastie-hnlichen Brtchen, haben mchte, sollte zweierlei mitbringen: Liebe zum Fleisch und ausreichend Geduld, um die langen Wartezeiten zu berstehen! Selbst abends kurz vor Mitternacht platzt der Burger-Laden im amerikanischen Style aus allen Nhten. Aber es zahlt sich aus: Die "Bird"-Burger schmecken einfach phantastisch. Die Frische der Zutaten sticht heraus, der groe Pommes-Berg, der vermutlich noch nie aufgegessen wurde, ist handgeschnitten. Im Herzen Neukllns hat 2010 mit dem "BBI" ein kleiner Burger-Laden erffnet, der weder Tische noch Sthle bietet einzig und allein eine Handvoll Barhocker findet in dem winzigen Laden Platz. Drauen reihen sich die hungrigen Mgen tglich brav in einer Schlange auf der Suche nach dem groen Burger-Erlebnis. Wer hier einen typischen Burger mit Kse und den blichen Beilagen bestellt, bekommt zwar auch einiges geboten. ABER: Jeden Monat steht ein neuer Spezial-Burger auf der Karte. Wir trafen Cokes beim "Reeperbahn Festival" im ARCOTEL Onyx Hamburg, um ber Chancen von Social-Media-Kanlen, ber die Bedeutung von Live-Konzerten und am Ende auch ber die Inhaltslosigkeit des Hipstertums zu sprechen.

Bei den mehr als 150 Fachkonferenzen des "Reeperbahn Festival" steht der Einfluss von Online-Portalen, wie Spotify, Facebook oder iTunes, im Mittelpunkt vieler Diskussionen von Produzenten, Knstlern und Labels. Die Vermarktung von Musik hat sich in den vergangenen Jahren stark in eine Selfmade-Industrie gewandelt. Fan-Zahlen und Follower bestimmen den Erfolg. Oder?

10-Minuten-Ruhm der CastingshowsViele 18- bis 25-Jhrige haben nur ein Ziel: Berhmt zu werden, erklrt der Brite. Und das gehe heutzutage sehr schnell, zum Beispiel bei Castingshows wie "Deutschland sucht den Superstar" oder "X Factor".

"Ja, es ist fr junge Knstler einfacher, die Tr zum Erfolg zu ffnen", besttigt Cokes. Innerhalb von Minuten erreichen sie Millionen von Fans, aber zehn Minuten spter schlgt die Tr zu und der Knstler sitzt wieder in seinem normalen Alltagsleben. Immer wieder sagen ihm junge Leute: "Ich will einfach nur berhmt werden." Es geht dabei nicht um Inhalte, Interessen und Talente. Es geht um die Anzahl der Follower, um das Berhmtsein an sich.

Teenagers adored his programme Most Wanted one of the most successful TV programmes in Europe that in its heyday had up to 60 million viewers in 38 countries. The show, which was broadcast live from Tuesday to Friday, featured a mix of prominent studio guests, games and music requests. We met Cokes at the Reeperbahn Festival in the ARCOTEL Onyx Hamburg, to talk about the opportunities offered by social media channels, the importance of live concerts and, finally, the emptiness of hipsterism.

Many of the discussions between producers, artists and labels at the over 150 trade conferences at the Reeperbahn Festival revolve around the influence of online portals like Spotify, Facebook and iTunes. In recent years, there has been a significant shift in the music marketing industry toward do-it-yourself. Success is determined by the number of fans and followers an artist has. Or is it? Talent Shows and 10 Minutes of FameAccording to the British-born presenter, many 18 to 25-year olds have only one goal: to become famous. And nowadays, that can happen very quickly, thanks to reality talent shows like Deutschland sucht den Superstar (from the Idol franchise) and the X Factor.

'Yes, it has become easier for young artists to open the door to success," Cokes says. They can reach millions of fans within minutes, but ten minutes later the door is slammed shut and the artist is left to go back to their day job. He has lost count of the times young people have said to him: 'I just want to be famous." It's got nothing to do with substance, interests or talent. It's all about the number of followers they have, fame for fame's sake.

Diamanten-Suche im Netz"Nichtsdestotrotz erleichtert das Internet guten Knstlern den Weg zum Label. Whrend frher Produzenten in die Clubs gingen, treffen sie heute ihre erste Auswahl im Netz. Das erleichtert Musikern, entdeckt zu werden, da sie sofort online gehen knnen", so Cokes. "Dafr mssen die Labels allerdings intensiv suchen, denn 99 Prozent Shit steht nur 1 Prozent brauchbarer Diamanten gegenber!"

Talentschmiede: "Reeperbahn Festival"Doch eines kann das Netz mit seinen zahlreichen Streaming-Diensten nicht ersetzen. Cokes wei: "Wenn du touren kannst, hast du was, was dir niemand stehlen kann du kannst Gefhle vermitteln, die bei Spotify nicht zu kaufen sind. Ob happy, sexy, horny, crazy oder depressiv: Das Gefhl bei Konzerten kann niemand bezahlen.' Es gab noch nie so viele Festivals wie derzeit. Und dabei lieben Bands, auf Festivals zu spielen, weil es einfach Spa macht, mit anderen Musikern backstage abzuhngen."

"Das 'Reeperbahn Festival' ist zum Beispiel ein einzigartiges Festspiel. Viele Musiker fragen an, ob sie spielen knnen. Zum einen ist die Stimmung in Hamburg super, zum anderen liegen die Clubs alle nahe beieinander. Wenn dir was gefllt, gehst du rein und hrst dir die Band an oder eben auch nicht. Und Bands, die bisher vor 20 Leuten gespielt haben, spielen pltzlich vor 500, wie zum Beispiel im Docks", ist Cokes vom Konzept des Festivals begeistert.

Hipster Trend: All for PosingHipsters demonstrate a similar emptiness. Apart from tattoos and long beards they have no message. They look like hippies, but whereas hippies hold their opinions out of conviction and want to send a message against war and violence, or punks stood for creativity and destruction, hipsters stand for nothing but emptiness. According to Cokes, "the meaning of life for hipsters consists of posing!"

Looking for Diamonds Online"Nevertheless, the Internet has made it easier for talented artists to find a label. Whereas in the past, producers used to go to the clubs to scout for new artists, they now make a preliminary selection on the Web. This makes it easier for musicians to be discovered, as they can go online straight away," Cokes says. "On the other hand, the labels have to search pretty intensively, because 99 percent of what is out there is rubbish and there are perhaps 1 percent who are rough diamonds!"

Talent Forge: Reeperbahn FestivalBut there's one thing the Web and its countless streaming services can't replace. Cokes knows: "If you can go on tour, you've got something no one can take away from you you can stir up emotions in your audience that can't be bought on Spotify. Happy, sexy, horny, crazy or depressed: You can't put a price on the feeling you get at a concert. There have never been as many festivals as there are today. And bands love playing festivals because they have so much fun hanging out with other musicians backstage.""The Reeperbahn Festival, for example, is unique. Lots of musicians come and ask if they can play here. On the one hand, Hamburg has a super atmosphere, on the other, all the clubs are very close together. If you like the sound of something, you go in and listen to the band - or not, as the case maybe. And bands who have never played in front of more than 20 people before, suddenly find themselves performing for an audience of 500 at the Docks club," says Cokes, who loves the concept behind the festival.

The ARCOTEL Rubin was named after the precious stone that is reflected in the red theme that runs throughout the building. The huge red headboards on the beds for example immediately call to mind Hamburg's magnificent sunrises and sunsets. The motifs from works by the painter Caspar David Friedrich on the curtains are a perfect metaphor for Hamburg's outward-looking attitudes that have been shaped by its sea-going traditions and the warm shade of red used in the leather blends in beautifully with the other furnishings.

TIPPS FR DEN ARBEITSALLTAG

Whrend meiner Studienzeit bestand der Groteil meiner Zeit aus Sitzen. Ich habe mich unwohl gefhlt, war nicht mehr ausgeglichen, konnte nicht mehr gut schlafen. Mein Kopf war voll und ich wusste nicht wohin mit der ganzen Energie, die ich ja aufnahm, aber nicht verbrauchte. Wie habe ich diesen Teufelskreis also berwunden?

MEINE EMPFEHLUNGEN:

1. Spazierengehen: Zuerst habe ich begonnen, die Strecken, die ich tagtglich hinter mich brachte, zumindest teilweise zu Fu zu gehen. Das war ein super Anfang, denn wie ich spter herausfand, ist Spazierengehen sehr gut fr die Gelenke und es bewegt den ganzen Krper.

2. Stehen statt Sitzen: In den ffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln habe ich mich nicht mehr hingesetzt, sondern bin stehen geblieben. Durch die Bewegungen der Transportmittel strengt man seine Rumpf-Muskulatur an, strkt die Tiefenmuskulatur durch die Ausgleichsbewegungen und streckt die Hftstrecker.

TIPS FOR EVERYDAY WORKING LIFE

When I was at university, I spent most of my time sitting down. I started feeling bad, was moody and had problems sleeping properly. My head was bursting and I didn't know what to do with all the energy I was taking in but wasn't using.So how did I break this vicious circle?

MY RECOMMENDATIONS:

1. Walking Firstly: I started to walk the distances at least some of them that I had to do each day. This was a good start because, as I found out later, walking is very good for the joints and exercises the whole body.

2. Standing instead of sitting: When using public transport I stood, instead of sitting. The movement of the vehicle strains the torso muscles, the small compensatory movements strengthen the deep muscles and the hip extensors are stretched.

The starting position is sitting, then stand up, squat, and stand up again. Reps: 4 x 15

3. Stufen statt Lift: Eh altbekannt und 1000 Mal durchgekaut. Trotzdem noch immer relevant! Mein letztes Bro befand sich im 8. Stock und ich muss zugeben, dass ich nur an sehr motivierten Tagen zu Fu hinaufgegangen bin. Dafr bin ich auf den U-Bahn-Rolltreppen nicht gestanden, sondern gestiegen.

4. bungen im Stehen: Viele, die ich kenne, haben ein Fitnesscenter-Abo. Die Gerte dort sind meistens auf Bnken ... also wieder sitzen! Macht die bungen im Stehen schnappt euch die Lang- oder Kurzhantel und strkt gleichzeitig euren Rumpf!

3. Stairs instead of the lift: This is well known and has been said a 1000 times already. But it is still relevant! My last office was on the 8th floor, and I have to admit I only walked it on days when I was feeling very motivated. To compensate for that I didn't stand on escalators, I walked.

4. Standing exercises: Many people I know are members of a fitness club, but most of the machines there are on benches ... which means sitting again! Do the exercises standing up, take barbells and dumbbells and strengthen your torso at the same time.

M arketing Coordinator Julia Frase aus dem Berliner ARCOTEL John F hat diesen Sommer fr drei Tage ihren Schreibtisch gegen die Kochschrze getauscht, um Einblicke in den Job des Kochs zu bekommen. Ein erfrischender Bericht ber die Welt "hinter dem Herd".

Die Temperaturen stehen bei 40 Grad, die Hitze im Bro drckt, mir fallen schon lange keine kreativen Wrter mehr ein, um das neue Sommer-Package zu bewerben, und dann entsteht da pltzlich dieser Wunsch, einmal drei Tage "irgendetwas mit den Hnden" zu machen. Ich, Julia Frase, arbeite seit Oktober 2014 im ARCOTEL John F Berlin und bin fr die Planung der Marketing-Aktivitten zustndig. Hierbei geht es sehr oft auch um die Bewerbung von F&B-Produkten. Um mich noch strker in die Materie einzuarbeiten, zu verstehen, was ich hier eigentlich bewerbe, und um die Produktionsablufe in der Kche besser kennenzulernen, entscheide ich mich dazu, ein Training in der Kche zu absolvieren. Gesagt, getan!

AM MONTAGMORGEN BEGINNT DIE SPTSCHICHT UM 15.00 UHR RELATIV UNKOMPLIZIERT

... dafr ungewohnt spt. Whrend meine Bro-Kollegen schon kurz vor dem Feierabend stehen, marschiere ich in Koch-Manier in die Kche ein bis dato fr mich unbetretenes Terrain, um meinen Dienst anzutreten. Ich starte damit, 10 Liter Vanillepudding zu kochen. Und hier das groe "Aber": Zuhause ist der Topf klein und beschaulich und pltzlich muss ich in groen Mengen denken und rechnen. Einige der Tpfe sind halb so gro wie ich.

P rompted by a desire to learn more about what goes on in the kitchen, Julia Frase from the Marketing department of the ARCOTEL John F in Berlin swapped her desk for a wooden spoon this summer. Here is her refreshing report of what happened when she tried her hand at being a chef.

The temperatures had reached 40 degrees, the heat in my office was oppressive and I couldn't think of a single creative word to advertise our new summer package. And all of a sudden, I felt this burning desire to get away from it all and do "something with my hands" for a couple of days. My name is Julia Frase and since October 2014 I have been working at the ARCOTEL John F Berlin, where I am responsible for planning marketing activities. And very often, this involves advertising F&B products. High time, I thought, to do a stint in the kitchen and get to know the product better, to understand what it is I'm actually advertising and also to learn more about the production processes. No sooner said, than done!

ON MONDAY MORNING, THE EARLY SHIFT GOT OFF TO A FAIRLY STRAIGHTFORWARD

... albeit for me unusually late start at 3.00 p.m. While my office colleagues were slowly coming to the end of their working day, I marched into the kitchen - until then terra incognito for me - to begin my work. My first job was to make ten litres of vanilla pudding. And straight away I suffered the first shock to my system: my pans at home are small and ingredients all come in manageable quantities but all of a sudden I had to start thinking and calculating in large volumes. Some of the pots were almost half as big as I am.

Die Sptschicht zeichnet sich vor allem durch -la-Carte-Bestellungen aus. Eine schiet um 20.35 Uhr ein, der Koch ruft: "Einen TOWN BAR Burger und eine Currywurst." Ich bin aufgeregt; ich soll den Burger jetzt "bauen", garnieren, die Pommes frittieren und die Currysauce erhitzen. Mit ein wenig Anleitung gebe ich meinen ersten TOWN BAR Burger heraus und bin stolz ber das Resultat. Jetzt blo schnell klingeln der Kollege aus dem Restaurant wartet schon ungeduldig, die Bestellung zum Gast zu bringen. Um 23.30 Uhr endet mein erster Kchendienst, ich bin geschafft und falle todmde ins Bett.

The late shift was dominated by la carte orders. One came in at 25 to nine and the chef called out: "One TOWNBAR burger and a currywurst". I felt the adrenalin surging through my veins; it was now my job to "build" the burger, garnish it, fry the chips and warm up the curry sauce. With a little bit of instruction, I managed to get my first TOWNBAR burger out, and, although I say it myself, I was rather proud of the result. Just remember to ring the bell my colleague from the restaurant was already waiting impatiently to bring the order to the guest. At half past eleven, my first shift in the kitchen came to an end; I went home and collapsed into bed utterly exhausted.

AM NCHSTEN TAG SCHNIPPLE ICH GEMSE IN RATATOUILLE-GRSSE

Langsam habe ich die richtige Schneidetechnik begriffen und passe sehr auf meine Finger auf. Nach drei Tagen Kchen-Training bin ich um viele Erfahrungen reicher. Zum einen, weil ich gelernt habe, dass die Kche eine eigenstndige, hochkomplexe Abteilung ist, die wie ein groes Uhrenwerk funktioniert. Das Arbeiten funktioniert Hand in Hand und am Ende hat jeder seinen kleinen Teil zum groen Ganzen beigetragen. Zum anderen trete ich ehrfrchtig zurck, vor der Arbeit, die hier tglich, Tag und Nacht, absolviert wird. Einem Kchenteam, dessen Aufgabe es ist, fr das kulinarische Wohlergehen von 400 Menschen zu sorgen, kann ich nur meinen tiefsten Respekt entgegenbringen.

Ich mchte mich fr diese tolle Erfahrung, die gewonnenen Rezepte und die wertvollen Tipps bei unserem Kchenteam bedanken.

I slowly acquired the proper cutting technique, taking great care to mind my fingers. After 3 days in the kitchen, I know I have gained a lot of valuable experience. On the one hand, because I've learned that the kitchen is a highly-complex, self-contained department that runs like a huge clockwork machine.
