Rabindra Vasavada, Architect started his professional career in 1969 as an assistant to Prof Louis Kahn in his site office on the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad Project. Later he worked with Prof. Frei Otto. He was initiated into architectural conservation by S i r B e r n a r d F e i l d e n , a r e n o w n e d B r i t i s h A r c h i t e c t . H e h a s b e e n s i n c e 1986 a p ro fess i ona l a r ch i t ec t w i t h spec i a l i n t e res t i n h i s t o r i c conse rva t i on .

Vasavada started his teaching career as an Assistant Professor in School of Architecture, Ahmedabad in 1976. He was founder Professor and Head of the Post Graduate Programme in Conservation Studies at the CEPT University from 2007 to 2014. He has been invited by prestigious institutions to teach and present his research works. He was a Visiting Professor at the Institute of Construction and Design at the University of Innsbruck, Austria in 2007. He has been a Senior Research Fellow at the Cluster of Excellence, Karl Jasper Centre University of Heidelberg and German Research Council in Germany. He has been a retained scholar with Project f o r I nd ian Cu l tu ra l S tud ies a t t he F ranco - Ind ian Resea rch Pv t L td . Bombay.Vasavada has been an Advisor to National Monuments Authority of the Ministry of Culture Government of India and more recently, World Resource Institute, Washington DC. He has been a project Consultant for Archaeological Survey of India and has been a Member of the National Committee on Conservation Policy in 2009.He is a Life Member of Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage, New Delhi and a Fellow of the Royal Asiatic Society of Great Britain and Ireland.

Vasavada was ass igned by the Ahmedabad Mun ic ipa l Corpora t ion Ahmedabad India, the task of preparing the World Heritage City Nomination Dossier for Historic city of Ahmedabad on which he worked with his team at CEPT University from 2010 till date. The Historic City of Ahmedabad is the first Indian city inscribed on the World Heritage List by the UNESCO at the 41st session of the World Heritage Committee in Krakow, Poland on 8th July 2017.
