I help all the students herelearn how to go out into the com-munity and nd jobs, networkand become involved, said Car-ey. We strongly encourage ourstudents to volunteer and try toprovide opportunities or them todo so. It is something that is reallyimportant to our employers and itis part o being a good citizen.

    Since she started at Ste-

In 2010, Carey was inspired tostart an annual undraiser eventthat would appeal to her studentsas a volunteer opportunity. Sincemany o the students at the collegeare single mothers, Carey decidedto team up with the ShepherdsInn, a home or women acing un-planned pregnancies. Te event iscalled Baby-Oh-Baby: Te Moth-

Members o the military andthe reghters are yearly partic-ipants in this event. Carey saidthe games are not your typicalbaby shower games, and teamscan get very competitive.

People bleed. Tey are in-tense, said Carey.

Carey also acts as an IdahoFalls Chamber o CommerceAmbassador and a Civitanmember or the area.

    Te countless hours Car-

ey has spent volunteeringand serving Idaho Fallsthroughout the years isshown by the hundreds othank you cards that arekept in a le titled GoodNotes in her desk drawer.

When I am having a badday, or [i I am] extra tired,I go in there and read some[o the thank you notes] toremind mysel what I amdoing it or. Its not that it isall about receiving thanks, because it is absolutely notabout that, said Carey. Butits nice to know I was ableto give people the little pushthey needed to change theirlives.

Carey said she has oundthat many people just needa tiny push or a little bit ohelp in order to turn theirlives around and make itbetter.

I just want to provide peoplewith that little boost that bene-ts their lives and gives them theboost they need to nd success,

said Carey. Sometimes peoplejust need to know they can do itand that there is someone thereto help.

Carey said that is exactly thereason why she and her husbandspend so much time volunteering.

We have a motto that isomething doesnt bring us joythen we wont do it. Lie is tooshort to not enjoy it. As Buddhasays, What is your bliss? Findyour bliss and ollow it.
