Mechinat Etgar aims to create a lifelong commitment of Netzer bogrim to

the Reform Zionist Ideology and to the Progressive Movement in

general. Mechinat Etgar creates an in-depth life and learning experience

based on Netzer’s core values, addressing the main issues on its agenda.

Through this experience, Netzer Bogrim will fully understand Netzer’s

ideology, its moral advantages and challenges, realize it in their personal and

communal lives during Etgar, all in preparation for Hagshama in their adult

lives.

Mechinat Etgar participants will have strong connections to Israel, Netzer

and the progressive movement. While the participants will understand

controversial issues, they will choose to participate, lead, and deal with their

challenges.

Mechinat Etgar encourages its participants through a rounded education and

a communal experience, to challenge conformity and criticize the

conservative order of our current social reality. The participants will make a

conscious effort to make a change in their personal and communal lives, and

in the wider Jewish (and universal) world inspired by Netzer's ideology. Mis

Etgar is a hole in the fabric of space and time where a select few

people are brought together simultaneously, almost at random, to

occupy the same flat. Our task is to create; create a community,

create a better society, create friendships, create memories, create

ideologies and, in a lot of ways, create the versions of ourselves that

we want to be in our adult lives. Etgar has completely changed my

outlook on life, people and myself in a way I don’t think any other

experience could ever replicate.

Charley Katan, RSY Netzer,

I’ve learned that communal living is the most difficult but

rewarding experience, I’ve learnt that reform Zionism is going to

save the state of Israel, I’ve learnt that Netzer is simultaneously the

most flawed and yet also greatest movement on the planet, I’ve

learnt that empowerment through education really can change the

world, but most importantly I’ve realized that if I can’t dedicate my

life to all the causes I’ve grown to be passionate about in the last 4

months, then no one can. As I reach the end of my experience here I

can’t help but notice that I am the most empowered I have ever felt

in my life and that’s not going away any time soon.

Mikaela Webb, Netzer Australia

Etgar has given me the oppurtinity to blossom to my full creative

potential, and I am endlessly grateful that I have had the chance to

unlock the best side of myself.

Miranda Robshaw, LJY Netzer

Danit Ariel - Madrichat Etgar

Danit grew up in Jerusalem as a chavera in Noar Telem. Throught

her Netzer journey she lead on Netzer camps in different sniffim

and then continued as a participant in the Jaffa Reform Mechina.

Later, Danit was part of the first Noar Telem Garin Nachal. She

served in the IDF as a commander and teacher on an educational

course which gives an opportunity for soldiers from low

socioeconomic backgrounds, who aren’t able to complete high

school, to gain a diploma during their army service. Recently, she

spent 4 months in Africa where she travelled and worked for a

local NGO that provides shelters for children. Danit loves being

the Etgar madricha and being part of a new progressive Jewish

creation that takes form in an intentional community. But really,

her true passions are photography and cupcakes.
