»I have an idea for a book project…« This is often how the intensive common

path of the artist or curator with the publishing team begins: the production of an art book. We accompany each individual step, from editing to proofreading, from layout to the selection of individual design elements, from data check and the »fine tuning« of the image data for the paper chosen to the monitoring of the printing process on site together with the artist. The fact that all those involved work under one roof not only shortens lines of commu-nication but also intensifies the relationship to the final product – the unique art book (hand-)made in Heidelberg.

In the second half of the years, our books will accompany numerous exhibitions which are by all means worth visit-ing. The first station is the sunny Rencontres de la Pho-tographie in Arles, which will feature solo exhibitions by Gregor Sailer, Mathieu Gafsou, Anton Roland Laub, and Priya Ramrakha (see pp. 62–65 and 18). Beginning in late August, the Kunsthaus Zürich will present Robert Delaunay and The City of Lights (see p. 10). In October the Kunst-forum Vienna invites you to visit the exhibition Fascination Japan (see p. 12). You can discover the pioneer of street photography Helen Levitt at the Albertina Museum, Vienna (see p. 8). The Hamburger Bahnhof – Museum für Gegen-wart – Berlin scores points with a show on Otto Mueller and His Network in Wrocław (see p. 54). And in November it’s worth stopping in Wetzlar for the comprehensive Paul Wolff retrospective (see p. 6).

Ausstellungen Sommer und Herbst 2018

Unsere Bücher begleiten einige Ausstellun-gen in der zweiten Jahreshälfte, die eine Reise wert sind. Los geht’s im Juli mit den sonnenverwöhnten Rencontres de la Photographie in Arles, wo Einzelausstellungen von Gregor Sailer, Mathieu Gafsou, Anton Roland Laub und Priya Ramrakha zu sehen sind (siehe Seiten 62–65 und 18). Ab Ende August zeigt das Kunsthaus Zürich Robert Delaunay und Paris (siehe Seite 10). Im Oktober lockt mit der Faszination Japan das Kunstforum Wien (siehe Seite 12) und mit der Pionierin der Street Photography Helen Levitt die Albertina, Wien (siehe Seite 8). Mit einer Schau zu Otto Mueller und seinem Netz-werk in Breslau punktet der Hamburger Bahnhof – Museum für Gegenwart – Berlin (siehe Seite 54). Im November lohnt ein Abstecher nach Wetzlar zur großen Paul Wolff Retrospektive (siehe Seite 6).

Der studierte Mediziner und fotografierende Seiteneinsteiger Dr. Paul Wolff (1887 – 1951) zählte um 1930 zu den erfolgreichsten deut-schen Fotografen. Früh hatte er sich als »Pionier der Leica« positioniert und über viel beach-tete Ratgeber auch international bekannt gemacht. Zusammen mit seinem Geschäfts-partner Alfred Tritschler erfüllte Wolff die Bild-wünsche seiner Zeit: von Architekturfotografie und Werbung bis hin zu Illustration, Reportage oder Propaganda. Bis Kriegsende war Dr. Paul Wolff & Tritschler mit Sitz in Frankfurt am Main eine »Marke« und setzte Maßstäbe auch auf dem Feld der noch jungen Industriefotografie. Das erste große Buch zu Wolff und Tritschler rekapituliert Werk und Vita der beiden Foto-grafen vor dem Hintergrund einer politisch,sozial und künstlerisch bewegten Zeit und schließt damit eine Lücke im Diskurs um die Fotografie der 1920er- bis 1940er-Jahre.

Around 1930, the trained physician and self-taught photographer Dr. Paul Wolff (1887– 1951) was among the most successful German photographers. He positioned himself at an early stage as a »pioneer of the Leica« and achieved international renown through his high-ly-regarded guidebooks. Together with his busi-ness partner Alfred Tritschler, Wolff satisfied the pictorial desires of his time: from archi-tecture photography to advertising and illus-tration, from reportage to propaganda. Up to the end of the war, Dr. Paul Wolff & Tritschler was a »brand« with its seat in Frankfurt am Main and set standards in the then still young field of industrial photography. The first comprehensive book on Wolff and Tritschler recapitulates the work and careers of both photographers against the backdrop of a politically, socially, and artistically turbulent period and thus closes a gap in the discourse on photography in the 1920s to 1940s.

Helen Levitt (1913–2009) ist eine der wich-tigsten Vertreterinnen der Street Photography. Bereits 1959 etabliert Helen Levitt Farbe als künstlerisches Ausdrucksmittel und zählt somit zu den frü-hesten Vertretern der New Color Photography. Das Buch zur Retrospektive in der Albertina führt rund 130 ihrer ikonischen Werke zusam-men. Einige der Bilder stammen aus Helen Levitts persönlichem Nachlass und werden hier zum ersten Mal öffentlich gezeigt.

Helen Levitt (1913 – 2009) numbers among the foremost exponents of street photography. As a passionate observer and chronicler of everyday street life in New York, she spent decades documenting residents of the city’s poorer neighbourhoods such as Lower East Side and Harlem. Levitt’s oeuvre stands out for her sense of dynamics and surrealistic sense of humour, and her employment of color photo-graphy was revolutionary: Levitt numbers among those photographers who pioneered and estab-lished color as a means of artistic expression. The book accompanying the retrospective of the Albertina Museum features around 130 of her iconic works. Many of these photos come from Helen Levitt’s personal estate, and this exhibition represents their first-ever public showing.

Robert Delaunay und Paris ist eine Würdigungder intensiven Auseinandersetzung des Malers mit Farbe als Ausdruckmittel für Form, Tiefe, Licht und Bewegung. Gleichzeitig veranschau-licht die Publikation, wie stark Delaunay bei seiner Motivwahl und Bildsprache von der franzö-sischen Metropole inspiriert wurde. Robert Delaunay and The City of Lights will recognize Delaunay’s unwavering commitment to color in painting to convey form, depth, light and movement, while highlighting how the modern metropolis of Paris often provided the inspiration for his imagery and pictorial research. In addition to presenting works from of his most famous series of paintings, such as that of the Eiffel Tower, the book also includes portraits Delaunay made of his artistic milieu during the 1920s. Portraits of the poets Philippe Soupault, Tristan Tzara, and several fashion-able socialites, wearing ensembles designed by the artist Sonia Terk-Delaunay, are shown. The newly commissioned texts allow the reader to experience the wide-ranging and prescient nature of Robert Delaunay’s work – exploring the significant themes of movement, technol-ogy, sport, and advertising that were to preoc-cupy him throughout his career.

»Japomania« – the enthusiasm of the Western world in the late nineteenth century and the world of images from the Far East: It begins in Paris and spreads from there throughout all of Europe. The high artistic quality of Japa-nese color woodcuts and other everyday objects is recognized as early as the 1860s. The pub-lic’s yearning for exotic culture triggers a down-right collecting mania for Japanese art. Especially artists begin to collect and integrate the exotic vocabulary of forms into their own pictorial lan-guage. Monet, Manet, van Gogh, and Degas are the first, followed by younger artists such as Toulouse-Lautrec, Marc, Kandinsky, and Bonnard. The catalog is published in conjunction with the eponymous exhibition in the Kunstforum Wien in Vienna and provides a unique overview of the fascination of the exotic from its begin-nings to the turn of the century and far beyond.

Spätestens seit dem großen Erfolg seines Buches At the Edge of the World (Kehrer 2015) ist der Franzose Alain Laboile Kennern der Schwarz-Weiß-Fotografie weltweit ein Begriff. In seinem neuen Bildband Summer of the Fawn (Sommer des Rehkitzes) zeigt er erneut das freie, beinahe märchenhaft wirkende Leben seiner Familie in einem kleinen Dorf im Südwesten Frankreichs. Fernab von gesellschaftlichen Zwängen, Schulstress, Facebook & Co. scheint hier immer Sommer zu sein, und seine sechs Kinder tummeln sich barfuß in einem verwun-schenen Garten, in dem Katzen, Ringelnattern und sogar ein Rehkitz anzutreffen sind. Doch selbst im Märchen gibt es Regeln und so sehen wir auch, wie die Kinder zuhause unterrichtet werden: sinn- und liebevoll und oft im Freien. Summer of the Fawn ist eine wunderschöne, lebensfrohe und gleichzeitig melancholische Ode an die Kindheit und das Leben.

At the latest since the great success of his book At the Edge of the World (Kehrer 2015), the French photographer Alain Laboile is well known around the world among connoisseurs of black-and-white photography. In his new photobook, Summer of the Fawn, he once again provides insight into the free and nearly fairytale-like life of his family in a small village in the southwest of France. Far away from social constraints, school stress, Facebook & Co., it always seems to be summer here, and his six children frolic barefoot in an enchanted garden, in which one encounters cats, grass snakes, and even a fawn. Never-theless, rules do indeed exist, even in fairy-tales – we thus also see how the children are homeschooled: sensibly and lovingly, and often outdoors. Summer of the Fawn is a beautiful, vivacious, and at the same time melancholic ode to childhood and life.

Das Archiv des kenianischen Fotografen Priya Ramrakha (1935–1968) wurde erst nach 40 Jahren wieder entdeckt. Dies ist die erste Publikation, die sich seinem Lebenswerk aus-führlich widmet. Ramrakha stammt aus einer Familie politisch engagierter Journalisten und war einer der wenigen afrikanischen Fotografen, die die Unabhängigkeitskriege und die Zeit nach Abzug der Kolonialmächte aus Afrika doku-mentierten. Als einer der ersten afrikanischen Fotografen erhielt er eine Anstellung bei Time /LIFE. In symbolträchtigen Bildern fing er his-torisch bedeutsame Augenblicke ein, vom Mau-Mau-Aufstand Anfang der 1950er-Jahre bis zu den Unabhängigkeitsbewegungen in Afrika in den 1960er-Jahren. In Afrika und auch in den USA hielt er den politischen Widerstand der Bevölkerung im Bild fest, porträtierte aber auch führende Politiker und Persönlichkeiten, wie Jomo Kenyatta, Tom Mboya, Miriam Makeba und Martin Luther King Jr. Ramrakha starb, als er 1968 den Biafra-Krieg dokumentierte.

This is the first publication to explore the work of Priya Ramrakha (1935–1968), the pioneer-ing Kenyan photojournalist whose archive was recovered after over forty years. Hailing from an activist family of journalists, Ramrakha was one of the rare African photographers to chronicle the anti-colonial and post-independent struggles across Africa and one of the first to be employed by Time/LIFE. His iconic images defied stereo-type, censorship and editorial demand, and cap-tured key moments ranging from Mau Mau in the early 1950s to Africa’s independence movements through the 1960s. Ramrakha’s pan-African lens witnessed moments of political resistance by everyday people and major polit-ical figures in Africa and the civil-rights era in the United States, from Jomo Kenyatta and Tom Mboya to Miriam Makeba and Martin Luther King Jr. His work was cut short when he was killed in crossfire covering Biafra’s front lines in 1968.

The Flying Houses are a surrealistic and poetic vision of old Paris, inspired by Jules Verne, Hayao Miyazaki, Moebius, Wim Wenders, Federico Fellini, Serge Gainsbourg, and more. The series raises diverse subjects like urban-ism, architecture, cinema, pop culture, street art, and history. Employing traditional photog-raphy and digital manipulation, the series ele-vates architecture to a new level. The artist takes a variety of residential structures out of their defining neighbourhood backdrops. The images are photomontages of hundred of ele-ments, captured and assembled afterward like a puzzle. Floating amidst the clouds, like kites, the houses tell about the life, the dreams, and the hopes of their inhabitants.Laurent Chéhère’s works have been widely exhibited, e. g. at Paris Photo, The Fence, New York, the Lumiere Brothers Center, Moscow, the Mucem, Marseille. He lives and works in Paris.

The publication Sceneries provides compre-hensive insight into the diverse and multilay-ered work of the German photographer Thomas Wrede (b. 1963). It brings together for the first time works from the last 25 years, including well-known series such as Domestic Land-scapes, which present complex »picture-in-pic-ture« situations in photo wallpapers, and Die Vögel stehen in der Luft und schreien (The Birds Hang in the Air and Scream), black-and-white photographs of largely fatal collisions of birds with glass windows.The starting point of Wrede’s photographic oeu-vre is always the yearning for nature and the question as to how this can be medially trans-mitted. With his new works from the series Real Sceneries, he explores the boundaries between real and surreal worlds and presents us with an exciting interplay of truth and fiction. In doing so, he consciously shifts these boundaries and questions photography’s fidelity to reality.

Macilaus Werk wurde vielfach ausgezeichnet und aus-gestellt, so zum Beispiel bei der 56. Biennale Venedig, bei Volta NY und bei der Photo Lon-don. Sein erstes Buch, Growing in Darkness, erschien 2016 im Kehrer Verlag. Er lebt und arbeitet in Maputo, Mosambik.

Mário Macilau’s long term project Faith docu-ments the practice of animism (the belief that everything has a soul or spirit) within tradi-tional religions in contemporary Mozambique. It reflects local and yet diverse conceptions of God and the cosmos and how ancient Mozam-bican traditions are preserved.Mário Macilau (b.1984) started his journey into photography from the streets of Maputo. His career began when in 2007 he traded his mother’s cell phone for his first camera. He specializes in long term projects often focus-ing on socially and economically marginal-ized groups. His powerful and sensitive work has been widely exhibited to growing criti-cal acclaim, for example at the 56th Venice Biennale, at Volta NY, and at Photo London.His debut book Growing in Darkness was pub-lished 2016 by Kehrer. He lives and works in Maputo, Mozambique.

Seit 2008 fotografiert Sebastian Sardi Minen. Mit seinem Projekt Black Diamond porträtiert er die Kohlearbeiter aus nächster Nähe und erforscht gleichzeitig die Zwiespältigkeit der menschlichen Natur.

A thick layer of fine dust covers everything in this apocalyptic landscape. The ground is burning, and a vast area is oozing with toxic gases, fire, and smoke. Amongst all of this, there are people digging in the soil with their bare hands. In Jharkhand, India, coal is mined everywhere. The locals call it »Black Diamond«.There is a fragile balance between nature and mankind. The human inability to break pat-terns is painstakingly visible in these photo-graphs, as we knowingly keep on extracting the ground beneath our own feet.Sebastian Sardi began his work on photograph-ing mines in 2008. Black Diamond is a close portrait of the people who extract coal, as well as an exploration of our dualistic human nature.

Since their resistance against the Islamic State (IS), the Kurds have once again become the focus of public attention. Who is this people, this minority, who defies terrorism? How do they live in their efforts to establish an inde-pendent state; what does their day-to-day life look like? The young Italian photographer Eugenio Grosso (b. 1984) traveled for six months through the Kurdish areas in Iraq to become familiar with this special people. His photos reveal a broad range of lifestyles between luxury villas and refugee accommodations, as well as markets, scenes of everyday life, and traditions. Pesh-merga soldiers and their camps can be viewed up close; the danger they expose themselves to becomes tangible. This unique photographic documentation is accompanied by diary entries by the young photojournalist.

Taken From Memory der amerikanischen Fotografin Sheron Rupp (* 1943 in Mansfield, Ohio) ist das Ergebnis eines 25 Jahre währen-den Langzeitprojekts. Auf der Suche nach ihren biografischen Wurzeln fotografierte Rupp das ländliche Amerika, um ein verlorenes Gefühl der Zugehörigkeit wiederzuentdecken. Doch sind die Bilder kein persönliches Manifest, sie bieten vielmehr einen einzigartigen Einblick in das Leben in den ländlichen Regionen und Klein-städten Amerikas zwischen den Metropolen an Ost- und Westküste. Ohne Überheblichkeit und Ironie, ohne Beschönigung oder Verurteilung beleuchten Rupps Bilder aus der Vergangen-heit so auch die amerikanische Gesellschaft von heute.Rupps preisgekrönte Arbeiten wurden viel-fach publiziert und ausgestellt und sind Teil der Sammlungen u.a. des MoMA in New York, des Museum of Fine Arts in Boston und des J. Searching for connections to her own biograph-ical past, Rupp took these photographs in rural America looking to find a piece of someone else’s life to give her a sense of »belonging.« Personal in nature, these photographs offer a stirring glimpse into the life in the com-monly disregarded rural areas and small towns between the bustling metropolises of the East and West Coast. Without pretense or irony, with-out assertation or judgment, Rupp’s impres-sions from the past also work as a commentary on today’s US society.Rupp’s awarded work has been widely pub-lished and exhibited, and is part of the collec-tions of the New York MoMA, the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, the J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles, and many others.

With its melancholic visual language, Nina Röder’s series bath in brilliant green presents a poetic perspective on different forms of helplessness and loss. In associative arrange-ments of portraits, landscapes, and still life motifs – often created in darkness – she ap-proaches states of loss and rediscovery, as well as the metaphor of letting go. Staged images of marble-like bodies, often in a performative cor-relation with the surrounding nature, question the meaning of human existence. Her works frequently depict natural structures and veg-etal artifacts, such as bits of algae or thistles in an absurd form.Röder’s images were created in Italy, Iceland, Ireland, Spain, and France over the past five years. In its dramaturgy, the book cap-tures the different chromatic atmospheres of these countries.

Oliver Krebs ist einer der wenigen Vertreter der Street Photography, den man gleicherma-ßen subjektiv und konzeptuell nennen kann. In Signal & Noise (Signal & Rauschen) manifes-tiert sich sein Ringen um das fotografische Bild jenseits des zentrierten Blickes. Dabei denkt er – von der Malerei her kommend – das Bild als solches neu. Wenn das Motiv das »Signal« ist, dann interessiert den in Berlin lebenden Fotografen das »Rauschen«, welches dieses Signal überlagert. Seine Bilder scheinen sich immer wieder selbst aufzulösen, Bildebenen werden ineinander verflochten und der Betrach-ter wird schließlich zu einer neuen Form der Fotografie geführt. Oliver Krebs sucht, ja forscht nach Bildern: So ist es schlüssig, dass er seinen Fotografien Text-fragmente der großen Entdecker des 19. Jahr-hunderts zur Seite stellt. Ein Dialog, in dem wir viel über unser Suchen und Sehen erfah-ren können.

Oliver Krebs is one of the few protagonists of street photography who one could describe as being both subjective and conceptual. In Signal & Noise, his struggle for the photo-graphic image beyond the centered view be-comes manifest. With his roots in painting, he conceives the image as such from a new per-spective. If the motif is the »signal,« then the Berlin-based photographer is interested in the »noise« that overlays this signal. Time and again, his images appear to dissolve them-selves, pictorial layers become interwoven, and the viewer is ultimately introduced to a new form of photography. Oliver Krebs searches for, indeed researches,images: It is thus only logical that he juxta-poses his photographs with text fragments from the great explorers of the 19 th century. A dialog from which we can learn a great deal about our own searching and seeing.

Die meisten Bilder entstehen zwar in einem urbanen Umfeld, sind aber keine Street Pho-tography, sondern in aller Ruhe komponierte Aufnahmen. Anja Conrad (*1971), aufgewachsen in Chicago und New York, lebt und arbeitet in Frankfurt am Main. Seit 1992 wurden ihre Arbeiten im In- und Ausland ausgestellt, zum Beispiel im Ort für Fotografie, Basel, im Raum für Kultur der Commerzbank, Frankfurt am Main, und in der Open Source Gallery, Brooklyn, New York.

The book brings together Anja Conrad’s series Cars, Men at Work, Reflections, and others and emphasizes the common aspects of these highly varied works. These include especially recurring processes, everyday perceptions and actions. The unimportant becomes a singular experience, the insignificant significant. Most of the images are created in an urban environ-ment; they are, however, not street photogra-phy but rather images that have been carefully composed. Anja Conrad (b. 1971) was raised in Chicago and New York and currently lives and works in Frank-furt am Main. Since 1992, her works have been exhibited in Germany and abroad at, among others, Ort für Fotografie, Basel, Raum für Kul-tur at Commerzbank, Frankfurt am Main, and the Open Source Gallery, Brooklyn, New York.

Die Künstlerin Mira Bergmüller gibt Einsicht in Räume der Stiftskirche St. Margarethen in Waldkirch, die der breiten Öffentlichkeit sonst verwehrt bleiben. Sie beschreibt die Kirche aus ihrer alltäglichen Nutzung heraus und schärft so den Blick für Kunst und Architektur als Zeugen einer Glaubensgeschichte zwischen scheinbarer Banalität und Poesie. Vergessenes trifft auf Umfunktioniertes, Kost-bares auf Einfaches. Neu- und altgenutzte Orte und Objekte erzählen vom tiefen Glauben, der in der Schlichtheit des Kirchenalltags sicht-bar wird. Zwischen den Fotografien finden sich Skizzen der durchwanderten Räume, wobei mit den Grenzen zwischen Dokumentation und Stimmungsbild gespielt wird. Die Architek-turzeichnung wird zitiert, jedoch nicht genau übernommen – sie dient der Illustration vager Erinnerungen und Raumerfahrungen.

The artist Mira Bergmüller provides glances into spaces within the abbey church of St. Mar-garet in Waldkirch, to which the broader pub-lic otherwise has no access. She describes the church from the perspective of its daily use and thus enhances awareness of art and architecture as witnesses of a history of faith between ostensible banality and poetry. The forgotten meets with the converted, the precious with the simple. Converted and old spaces and objects tell a tale of profound faith, which reveals itself in the simplicity of everyday life in the church. Between the pho-tographs one finds sketches of the spaces she wandered through, thus playing with the boundaries between documentation and atmo-sphere. She refers to architectural drawing with-out adopting this one to one, using it instead as an illustration of vague memories and spa-tial perception.

For the first time an exhibition addresses the huge artistic influence of the Brücke painter and German expressionist Otto Mueller: As a mentor for a younger generation, he taught for more than ten years at the State Academy of Fine Arts and crafts in Wrocław, which in the 1920s was regarded as one of Europe’s most progressive art schools. Here, the vari-ous movements in painting at the time were seen as equals: Académie Matisse, Expres-sionism, New Objectivity and Bauhaus. Otto Mueller, who was nonconformist and charis-matic had significant influence on the local art scene. This publication draws greater attention to an important joint chapter in German-Polish art history. It accompanies the exhibition by the Nationalgalerie, Staatliche Museen zu Ber-lin, in collaboration with the Alexander and Renata Camaro Foundation.

»Wer war Louis de Marsalle?« Mit dieser Frage eröffnet Thorsten Sadowsky, Direktor des Kirch-ner Museums Davos, sein Vorwort. Er berich-tet von einem Manuskript, das ihm zugespielt worden sei, welches der französische Dichter, Kunstkritiker und Arzt Louis de Marsalle ver-fasst haben soll. Der Text liest sich wie ein Auszug aus einer Autobiografie, wobei dem Leser überlassen wird, wie viel Glauben er den Schilderungen schenken möchte.Louis de Marsalle war ein Pseudonym Ernst Ludwig Kirchners, unter dem er Texte veröffent-lichte und so mit der Kunstfigur nicht nur ein geschicktes Marketing in eigener Sache betrieb, sondern sich zugleich ein Alter Ego schuf, das er auf imaginäre Reisen nach Afrika schicken konnte, während er selbst ein zurückgezoge-nes Leben in den Schweizer Bergen führte. He reports on a manuscript that had fallen into his hands and was ostensibly written by the French poet, art critic, and physician Louis de Marsalle. The text reads like an excerpt from an auto-biography, whereby it is left up to the reader whether he wishes to believe the narration.Louis de Marsalle was a pseudonym of Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, under which he published writings. Through this fictional character, he not only conducted smart self-marketing, but also created an alter ego for himself, whom he could send on imaginary journeys to Africa, while he himself led a secluded life in the Swiss mountains. The text is illustrated with portraits of the fic-tional character de Marsalle, photographed by Stephan Bösch.

Die Ausstel-lungsfläche wird dabei zur Bühne für ihre Beschäftigung mit den Ausdrucksformen des Theaters, dem Spiel von Fiktion und Wirklich-keit, Rolle und Identität. Für ihre Einzelschau im Darmstädter Museum Künstlerkolonie rückt Ulla von Brandenburg eine speziell für diesen Ort entwickelte Instal-lation ins Zentrum, die im Zusammenhang mit der einzigartigen Geschichte der Mathilden-höhe als Denk- und Versuchslabor der Moderne steht. Sie inszeniert Werke der Städtischen Kunstsammlung Darmstadt in Kombination mit eigenen Objekten, wobei nicht nur die historische Rezeption der Werke im Vorder-grund steht, sondern auch Fragen der Präsen-tation, Wahrnehmung und Vermittlung.

In her works, Ulla von Brandenburg interlinks various genres to create highly symbolic, staged presentations: sculpture, installation and film, performance, fashion and music, silhouettes and wall drawings. The exhibition space becomes a stage for her examination of the various modes of expression found in theater, the play with fic-tion and reality, role and identity.For her solo exhibition in the Darmstadt Art-ists’ Colony Museum, Ulla von Brandenburg focuses on an installation developed specifi-cally for this venue, which stands in connection with the unique history of the Mathildenhöhe as a think tank and experimental laboratory of modernism.
