High Performance Mining”
Mining Engineering I at the RWTH Aachen University and as the chairman of the Executive Committee of AIMS, to invite you to the 5th International Symposium “High Performance Mining” here in Aachen.
The AIMS series of symposia has to come to be recognized by the mining society as a leader in promoting the international transfer of technology. In view of the expressed interest by mining professionals from around the world, AIMS Symposia like “Rockbolting in Mining”, “High-Performance Mine Production” and “Rapid Mine Development” have been organized since 1987 on an annual basis.
This year's symposium will strive to provide a forum for presentation, discussion and evaluation of state-of-the-art and emerging technologies in the field of High Performance Mining with special emphasis to Automation, Communication and Infrastructure.
The event is designed to be a place for the exchange of information among experts, which in times of further internationalization and globalization must not be limited to national or european borders. About 48 presentations by high ranking experts from Australia, Canada, India, Iran, Japan, South Africa, USA and from Europe as Austria, Germany, Greece, Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Russia, Sweden and Turkey are contributing to this objective.
Apart from this, companies active in the field of mining will present themselves in an exhibition.

The town of Aachen is situated in the heart of Europe and well known for its´ beautiful historical city center, in particular the ancient cathedral and the city hall.

Motivation
High performance mining is a synonym for increased efficiency, increased productivity and higher production rates in raw materials extraction. These became the deciding factors in determining the economic success of a mining operation.
The global trend in underground mining operations is towards ever increasing productivity. The important factors affecting productivity are:
Automation, Communication,
Infrastructure
These encompass: advances in propulsion and extraction technology, logistics, preventative maintenance, planning and organisation.
The focal point will therefore be the continuous development of technologies aimed at improving performance and productivity. Benchmarking between different mining operations and sectors can point out areas which have potential for improvement.
The symposium continues to provide a platform for knowledge exchange between international representatives of mining, tunnelling, suppliers, authorities and research.

“Hochleistungsabbaubetriebe” ist ein Synonym für Leistungssteigerung, Produktivitätssteigerung und höhere Produktionsraten in der Gewinnung. Diese sind heutzutage entscheidend für den wirt-schaftlichen Erfolg von Bergbauunternehmen.
Weltweit geht der Trend zu immer leistungs-fähigeren Tiefbaubetrieben. Ausschlaggebend für weitere Produktivitäts-steigerungen sind:

Diese umfassen: Fortschritte in der Antriebs- und Gewinnungstechnik, Logistik, Instandhaltung, Planung und Organisation.

Exhibition
All morning and afternoon tea breaks will be served in the exhibition area. This will provide excellent opportunities for exhibitors and delegates to meet and talk.The traditional dinner party provides the opportunity to get in contact with customers and colleagues
Service Package Exhibition
The booth fee for exhibitors who have advertised in the proceedings is exempt from charges.
Should you not be interested to advertise in the proceedings, we offer the option to present your company for a booth-fee of 250 € per metre (exhibition space at least 2 meters).
