Greyfrior's Bobby
In the old town of Edinburgh there is a statue ofa s§e terrier. The little dog is called Greyfriar's Bobby. Bobby is Scotland'smost famous dog.
John Gray was a police ofncer and Bobby was his dog. Togetherthey walked around the sheets of Edinbulgh because they wan-ted to keep the people safe. One day John became very ill and in1858 he died. They buried him in the churchyard at GrefriarsChurch. The little dog came to the churchyard and sat next tohis master's grave every day, even in rain or snow. The caretakerofthe church tried to keep Bobby away, but Bobby came backevery day.
His story touched the people of Edinburgh and they built a shelter for him next toJohn's grave. The people who knew Bobby looked after him well. He sat at his master's gmve for fourteenyears, until he died in 1872 at the age of16. The people buried him close toJohn Gray.
15 The statue of Bobby is very popular. Visitors fiom all over the world come there to hear Bobby'sstory and take pictures ofhis statue. Everyone loves the amazing story ofthe most faithful dogin Scotland.
