VorwortVom 4. bis 8. März 2015 ist es wieder soweit:

Wuppertal wird einmal mehr zum Zentrum für das Vibraphon. Wir freuen uns, in diesem Jahr bereits zum dritten Mal zum Europä-ischen Vibraphon-Festival nach Wupper- tal einzuladen. Gipfeltreffen, Kreativtage und Konzertreihe in einem, Treffpunkt für Profi- und Laienmusiker – Spring Vibes ist einzigartig in Europa.

Das Festival bietet den Workshop-Teil-nehmern fünf Tage lang Gelegenheit zum gemeinsamen Musizieren auf dem Vibra-phon, zum Improvisieren, Lehren, Lernen, Üben und Zuhören. Die sechs international renom mierten Dozenten David Friedman, Tony Miceli, Stefan Bauer, Mario DeCiuti-is, Mathias Haus, Tom van der Geld und Matthias Goebel bieten musikalisch ein brei-tes Spektrum mit traditionellem Jazz, Bebop, Worldmusic, Electronic und Freiem Spiel. Jeder der Festivaltage findet zudem seinen Abschluss mit einem Konzert. Fünf Abende lang bietet Spring Vibes ein spannendes Konzertprogramm für die Workshop-Teil-nehmer und viele weitere Besucher – wir freuen uns auf gemeinsame Musikerlebnisse und Begegnungen!

becomes the capital of vibraphone-play-ing! We are proud to announce the Euro-pean vibes-workshop “Spring Vibes” for the 3rd time. Five days of vibraphone, music, creative impulses and a chance to meet musicians of any level, from beginner to professional. WOW!“Spring Vibes” offers opportunities to its

participants to play music together, to im-provise, to learn, to teach, to practice effec-tively, and to listen.

This year’s team of instructors is comprised of six internationally renowned vibraphone- players. We are happy to welcome David Friedman, Tony Miceli, Stefan Bauer, Mario DeCiutiis, Mathias Haus, Tom van der Geld and Matthias Goebel. Masterclasses for these five days will include a wide variety of styles including Traditional Jazz, BeBop, World- music, Eletronic and Free Improvisation. Each day ends with an exciting concert by our master-clinicians that’s open to the public (free admission to participants). We are looking forward to a week of inspiring musical experiences and encounters!

Tony Miceli

Der amerikanische Vibraphonist Tony Miceli ist als herausragender Musiker sowohl als Instrumentalist, Komponist und Lehrer tätig. Er tritt regelmäßig als Leader oder Gastmusiker in Konzertsälen und Jazz-Clubs in den USA und im Aus-land auf, hat bereits mit Jazzgrößen wie David Friedman, Joe Magnarelli, Dave Liebman und Elio Villafranco gespielt und zahlreiche CDs aufgenommen. Derzeit ar-beitet Miceli vor allem mit dem Jost Pro-ject zusammen, ebenso mit dem Modern Irish Quartett (Irland) sowie Thelonious 4 (Niederlande) und spielt in diesen und anderen Formationen weltweit Konzerte.

Auf zahlreichen Festivals, in bekannten Clubs und Instituten war der renommier-te Vibraphonist bereits zu hören, darunter das Degu Jazz Festival (Korea), das Rea-ding Jazz Festival, das Melon Jazz Festival, das Kimmel Zentrum (Pennsylvania), der Jazz Standard, die Zinc Bar, das Irridium, die 55 Bar (New York City), der Evans Club (Korea), der Jazz Club Thelonious (Argen- tinien) und das Mallet-Institut (Düssel- dorf, Deutschland). Workshops hielt Miceli unter anderem am Curtis Institute für Music, an der Royal Academy of Mu-sic in Dublin, der Millers University und der University of Delaware, North Dakota, Iowa. Er lehrt an den Fakultäten der Uni-versity of the Arts und der Temple Univer-sity in Philadelphia und ist gemeinsam mit Matthias Goebel Initiator und künst-lerischer Leiter des Festivals Spring Vibes.

Tony Miceli

Vibraphonist Tony Miceli is an outstand-ing musician, performer, composer, and teacher who performs presently as a leader and sideman in countless jazz clubs and concert halls throughout the US and abroad. Mr. Miceli has performed with jazz greats David Friedman, Joe Magnarelli, Dave Liebman, Elio Villafranco and released a high number of records as a bandleader or sideman.

He is currently performing with the Jost Project as well as the Modern Irish Quartet (Ireland), Thelonious 4 (Netherlands) and other groups around the world.

He has played in festivals and clubs all over the world including the Degu Jazz Festival (Korea), The Reading Jazz Festi-val, The Melon Jazz Festival, the Kimmel Center (Pennsylvania), The Jazz Stand-ard, The Zinc Bar, The Irridium, The 55 Bar (NYC), Evans Club (Korea), Theloni-ous (Argentina), and The Mallet Institute (Dusseldorf Germany) and many others. Matthias Goebel

Matthias Goebel ist Musiker und vieles mehr, denn er ist auch Komponist, Arran-geur, Organisator, Veranstalter, Dozent und Impulsgeber. Vielseitigkeit ist sein Prinzip, doch diese mündet bei ihm nie in Be-liebigkeit. Sie bildet vielmehr einen ver-lässlichen Kompass für sein künstlerisches Schaffen. Goebel leitet das Mallet-Institut in Düsseldorf und ist gemeinsam mit Tony Miceli Initiator und künstlerischer Leiter des Festivals Spring Vibes.

Am Niederrhein in Nordrhein-Westfalen aufgewachsen wird Goebel schon früh an die klassische Musik und das Piano heran-geführt. Als Jugendlicher wendet er sich der Pop-Musik zu und spielt als Drummer in regional bekannten Bands. Dann stu-diert er Musik, legt Abschlüsse zum Di-plom-Musiker und zum Diplom-Mu sik-päda gogen an der Hochschule für Musik Köln ab. Es folgt ein Privatstudium in New York. Goebel verlegt sich auf die Schwer-punkte Schlagwerk, Vibraphon und Ma-rimbaphon und macht sich einen Namen als Komponist. Als Grenzgänger zwischen Klassik, Jazz und Pop entwickelt er eine eigene kompositorische Handschrift. Für seine Multi-Medialen-Kunstprojekte mit Hein Godehart Petschulat erhielt er erste Preise.

Bisher hat Goebel 14 CDs unter seinem Namen veröffentlicht oder an Releases anderer Musiker mitgewirkt. Stilistisch deckt er dabei ein breites Spektrum ab: Jazz, Rock, Neue Musik, Ensemble. Er hat

unter anderem mit Markus Stockhausen, David Friedman, Stefan Bauer, Philipp van Endert, André Nendza und Christoph Hillmann zusammengearbeitet. Konzert- reisen führten ihn durch ganz Deutsch-land und diverse europäische Länder sowie in die USA und nach China. Mit dem Tabadoul Orchestra war er erst kürzlich auf Tour in Nahost und den Vereinigten Arabischen Emiraten. Seine Lehrtätigkeit ist Goebel eine Herzensangelegenheit. Er wirkt und wirkte als Dozent an der Mu- sikhochschule Köln, an der Bergischen Musikschule Wuppertal sowie an der Offenen Jazzhausschule Köln.

Matthias Goebel

Matthias Goebel grew up in the Nieder-rhein region in North-Rhine-Westphalia and starts playing classical piano at an early age. As an adolescent he plays drums in regionally known pop-bands. In the following years he attends the renowned Hochschule für Musik Köln and gradua-ting in performance, pedagogy, and pri-vately studies in NY. Goebel now focusses on percussion, vibraphone and marimba, making a name for himself as a composer by developing a personal style between Classical Music, Jazz and Pop. He receives first awards for his multi-media-projects with Hein Godehart Petschulat.

So far Goebel published 14 CD’s in his name or as a participant in other mu-sicians’ releases. Stylistically he covers a wide variety between Jazz, Rock, New

Concert tours toook him through all of Germany, a variety of European countries as well as tot he USA and to China. His most recent tour with

the Tabadoul Orchestra brought him to the Middle-East and the United Arab Emirates.

Goebel’s educational activity is a mat-ter close to his heart. He teaches at the Musikhochschule Köln, the Bergische Musikschule/Wuppertal as well as at the Offene Jazzhausschule Köln.

David Friedman

Er gilt als einer der einflussreichsten Vi- braphonisten in der Geschichte des Instru-mentes: Der Amerikaner David Friedman ist international bekannt als Vibraphonist, Marimba-Spieler, Komponist und Jazz- Pädagoge. Er hat seinen eigenen faszinie-renden musikalischen Stil entwickelt, der auf vielfältigen musikalischen Einflüssen beruht. Mit vielen großen Musikerpersön- lichkeiten hat er bereits zusammengearbei- tet, wie beispielsweise Leonard Bernstein, Luciano Berio, Bobby McFerrin, Wayne Shorter und Yoko Ono. Wohl nur wenige Jazzmusiker können so ein breites Spek-trum an Erfahrung vorweisen wie Fried-mann, und das sowohl mit Auftritten als auch mit Aufnahmen.

David Friedman ist auf vielen CD-Ein-spielungen zuhören u.a. von und mit Joe Henderson, Horace Silver, Johnny Griffin, Hubert Laws, Jane Ira Bloom, Ron Carter und John Scofield. Auf Chet Bakers preis-gekrönten Album „Peace“ befinden sich viele seiner Kompositionen, die er gemein- sam mit Bassist Buster Williams, Schlagzeu-ger Joe Chambers und Chet Baker einspielte.

In den 1970er Jahren unterrichtete Friedman an der Manhattan School of Music und dem Montreux’s Institute for Advanced Musical Studies. Seit 1989 ist er Professor für Vibraphon und Komposition an der Universität der Künste in Berlin. Seit 2005 unterrichtet Friedman am dort neu gegründeten Jazz-Institut Berlin.

David Friedman

David Friedman is considered to be one of the most influential vibraphonists in the history of the instrument. Internati-onally renowned as a vibraphonist, ma-rimbist, composer and jazz educator, he has his own musical message, born of fascinatingly diverse musical influences. Having worked with such varied musical personalities as Leonard Bernstein, Luci-ano Berio, Bobby McFerrin, Wayne Shor-ter and Yoko Ono, few jazz musicians can claim as broad a spectrum of performing and recording experience.

Additionally, Friedman has been he-ard either live or on recordings with, among others, Joe Henderson, Horace Silver, Johnny Griffin, Hubert Laws, Jane Ira Bloom, Ron Carter and John Scofield. Chet Baker’s Enja release Peace (featuring Friedman’s compositions), with bassist Buster Williams and drummer Joe Cham-bers. In 1977, Friedman co-founded the ground-breaking vibe-marimba quartet Double Image (and later Duo), with Dave Samuels.

As an educator Friedman founded and served as the head of the jazz program at the University of the Arts in Berlin for sixteen years. He continues to perform master classes throughout Europe, North America and Japan. His book, Vibrapho-ne Technique, Dampening and Pedaling, is considered to be the Bible of mallet instruction books.

Stefan Bauer

Stefan Bauer ist als Vibraphon- und Ma-rimba-Spieler und ebenso als Komponist in einem weiten Feld zwischen Tradition und Avantgarde aktiv. Er blickt auf in-spirierende Reisen und Begegnungen unter anderem mit Dou Dou N’Diaye Rose, Ali Keïta, Rama Mani, Norma Winstone, Kakraba Lobi, Adam Nussbaum, Bernard Woma, Eje Thelin und Kenny Wheeler zurück. Hinzu kommen Kooperationen mit Christoph Haberer, Matthias Nadolny/Tim Wells/Thomas Alkier, Helge Schneider, Ramesh Shotham, Drori Mondlak /Karo-lina Strassmayer / John Goldsby, Michael Heupel, Laurent Roy, Bernie Senensky /Jim Vivian/ Barry Romberg, der WDR Big Band, David Friedman, seinem Ensemble Voyage und vielen anderen großen Musi-kern. All das sorgt für reichhaltige Eindrü-cke und Erfahrungen, die sich in seinen bislang acht CD-Veröffentlichungen unter eigenem Namen kreativ niederschlagen.

Bauer sieht sich als musikalischer Er-zähler und bedient sich vor allem als Komponist eines vielfältigen Vokabulars, das mit jeder musikalischen Begegnung wächst. Er ist seit Jahrzehnten bei Kon-zerten und Festivals von Abidjan bis Zürich zu hören und gilt als bedeutender Teil der Jazzszene in Deutschland sowie an sei-nem Wohnort Brooklyn, New York.

Herausragende Aktivitäten der vergange- nen Jahre sind eine zweite Tournee in Afrika, Live-Konzerte und Rundfunkmit- schnitte mit der WDR Big Band, geleitet von Vince Mendoza (2007), und im Rah-men von RUHR.2010 unter der Leitung

von Ansgar Striepens (2010). Konzerte im New Yorker Blue Note Jazz Club, eine Einladung zum New Jazz Festival in Moers, zum Jazzkaar Jazzfestival in Tal-linn/Estland. Eine Woche bei Jazz at the Lincoln Center und zahlreiche Konzerte in Deutschland, Holland und in und um New York führten zu Bauers Mitgliedschaft in dem Ensemble Karolina Strassmayer & Drori Mondlak – KLARO. Seit 2010 spielt Bauer gelegentlich in einem Duo mit dem Pianovirtuosen Vadim Neselovskyi, ebenfalls im Duo mit dem Marimba/Vi-bes-Virtuosen David Friedman und in Brooklyn mit BIO, dem Brooklyn Impro-visers Orchestra.

Stefan Bauer

Is active in a wide musical field. Inspiring travels, especially to Africa and East-India, and encounters with a. o. Dou Dou N’Diaye Rose, Ali Keïta, Rama Mani, Norma Winstone, Kakraba Lobi, Adam Nussbaum, Eje Thelin, Bernard Woma, Kenny Wheeler u.v.a., as well as memorable co-operations with Christoph Haberer, Matthias Nadolny, Helge Schneider, Ramesh Shotham, Michael Heupel, Bernie Senensky, WDR Big Band and many other fantastic musicians result in a cosmos of impressions and experiences that are reflected in to date eight CD’s un-der his name (with Charlie Mariano, Mick Goodrick, Ted Poor, Paul McCandless, Tim Hagans, Ugonna Okegwo a.o.). For dec-ades now Bauer could be heard at venues and festivals between Abidjan – Zürich. Noteworthy activities of the past years in-cluded a (second) tour of several African

countries, productions with the WDR Big Band (under Vince Mendoza and Ansgar Striepens), invitations to various festivals in Europe (a.o. Moers/Germany, Tallinn /Esto-nia). A week at Jazz at the Lincoln Centre, the legendary “Deerhead Inn” and con-certs in Europe led to Bauer’s membership in Karolina Strassmayer & Drori Mondlak – KLARO. In NY Bauer lately collaborated with Jenny Hill, Jerome Harris, Todd Isler, Dean Johnson, Rogerio Boccato, and with BIO, a avant-garde tentet based in Brooklyn.

In 2014 Bauer played with pianist Nancy Walker in Toronto, did a 14-city tour of Germany with his international ensemble Voyage (Chris Bacas - soprano sax, Michal Cohen – voice, Pepe Berns – bass, Roland Schneider – dr) in support of their CD GEO-GRAPHIA (JHM 216), followed by a tour of Central America and another series of con-certs in Germany. Tom van der Geld

Der Vibraphonist Tom van der Geld wurde 1947 in Boston geboren und lebt seit 1973 in Deutschland. Schon in jun-gen Jahren – noch vor seiner Ausbildung am Berklee College of Music in Boston – war er Preisträger vieler amerikanischer Jazz Festivals. Seine Plattenaufnahmen mit international namhaften Jazzmusi-kern und seine Auftritte bei allen bedeu-tenden europäischen Jazz Festivals haben ihm ein breites internationales Publikum beschert. Seine kraftvolle und klare Spiel-weise ist durch eine virtuose Vierschle-geltechnik gekennzeichnet, wobei diese Virtuosität einer intensiven und warmen, musikalischen Kommunikation nicht im Weg steht.

Joachim Ernst Berendt schreibt in „Das Große Jazzbuch“: „Tom van der Geld ist der sensibelste, ‚zarteste’ der neuen Vi-braphonisten. Seine Improvisationen klingen manchmal, als ob sein Instru-ment nicht von Schlegeln geschlagen würde, sondern ein milder, warmer Wind die Platten zum Schwingen bringe. Tom van der Geld ist in den verschiedensten Jazzrichtungen zu Hause, zeigt dabei je-doch immer seinen einzigartigen, unver-wechselbaren Stil.“

Neben seinen Live-Auftritten widmet sich der Vibraphonist seit Mitte der 1980er Jahre der Komposition von Bühnen- und Filmmusik. Seine Werke umfassen ein breites musikalisches Spektrum von Jazz- und Popmusik bis hin zu Neue Musik.

Tom van der Geld ist zudem ein gefrag-ter Dozent für Jazz-Workshops. Er unter-richtet an verschieden Musikhochschulen Deutschlands und ist Autor eines zwei-bändigen Standardwerks für Jazz-Gehör-bildung und Harmonielehre für Jazz- und Popmusik. Der Vibraphonist ist zurzeit Professor an der Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Mannheim.

Tom van der Geld

The American vibraphonist Tom van der Geld was born in Boston, and has been living permanently in Europe since 1974. He has performed at nearly all of the sig-nificant European Jazz Festivals including Montreux, Weltmusiktage Donaueschin-gen, Baden-Baden New Jazz Meeting, Willisau Festival, Jazz Festival Berlin and the Leverkusener Jazz Festival.

A partial listing of performances and productions with important jazz musicians would include names like Kenny Wheel-er, John Taylor, Charlie Mariano, Manfred Schoof, Luis de Mateo, Edward Vesala, Barre Philips, Albert Mangelsdorf, Keith Copeland, Mel Lewis, Bob Brookmeyer, Pe-ter Herbolzheimer and Bill Connors.

His legendary Group CHILDREN AT PLAY recorded four albums for the German la-bel ECM / JAPO.

In addition to composing for his own small groups, van der Geld has written commissioned works for stage and film (for a comprehensive list see his website http://www.tomvandergeld.de)

The late renowned jazz critic Joachim Ernst Berendt writes: “Tom van der Geld is the most sensitive oft he new vibra-phonists. His improvisations sometimes sound as if the bars of his instrument

were caused to vibrate by a warm, mild wind rather than by mallets. Tom van der Geld is at home in the most varied stiles, yet always maintains his unique and dis-tinctive style.”

Mathias Haus

Mathias Haus studierte klassisches Schlag–werk in Düsseldorf sowie in Boston Jazz-Vibraphon bei Gary Burton. Dane-ben studierte er auch Komposition/Arran-gement bei Herb Pomeroy, Hal Crook und John LaPorta. Seit 1992 ist er als Dozent an der Hochschule für Musik Köln, Abtei-lung Wuppertal tätig.Als Vibraphonist nahm Mathias Haus bereits an internationalen Festivals teil wie das Montreux Jazz Festival, das Hot Jazz Meeting und das Oleg Kagan Festi-val. Er spielte zahlreiche Konzerte und auch regelmäßige Beiträge in Fernsehen und Radio. Mit seiner eigenen Band und in Duos, wie beispielsweise ein Duo mit NDR-Pianist Vadislav Sendecki, spielt er zahlreiche Konzerte in Europa, den USA und Australien. Mathias Haus war bislang an mehr als 30 CD-Aufnahmen als Leader oder Gastmu-siker beteiligt und spielte als Gast-Solist in der WDR Bigband sowie auch in den Radio-Bigbands der deutschen Sender NDR, SWR und HR. Seit 2001 widmet die Konzertagentur Heinersdorff seiner Ar-beit als Komponist und Vibraphonist eine jährliche Konzertreihe. Mathias Haus spielte unter anderem mit Thomas Alkier, Jim Black, Rainer Bru-eninghaus, Hal Crook, Wolfgang Engst-feld, Xaver Fischer, Christian Jacob, Paul Kuhn, Donny McCaslin, Sammy Nestico, Stefan Rademacher, Hugo Read, Vadislav Sendetzki, Bobby Shue, Luciana Souza,

Fred Sturm, Skuli Sverisson, Reiner Witzel, Ken Wollesen. Als klassischer Spieler mu-sizierte Haus zudem unter Stockhausen, Kagel und Henze.

Mathias Haus

studied classical percussion in Duessel-dorf, then followed an invitation by Gary Burton to study jazz vibes with him in Boston. Additionally he studied compo-sition/arrangement with Herb Pomeroy, Hal Crook and John LaPorta from 1985-88, graduating magna cum laude.

Mathias played the following festivals: Montreux jazzfestival, Hot Jazz Meeting, Oleg Kagan Festival (musical director: Natalia Gutman; representative: Claudio Abbado) and regurlary performs on tele-vision and radio.

His own bands and duets (with NDR-pi-anist Vadislav Sendecki) played numerous concerts in Europe, the U.S. And Australia. He was a featured soloist of the WDR Ra-dio Big Band as well as performer for all German Radio-Bigbands, accompanying soloists like Martial Solal, Susi Hyldgaard, Nils Landgren, Enrique Telleria, Sammy Nestico and others.

Mathias’ works as a composer include commissioned pieces (Festivals, Bote & Bock, the WDR radio station and others) and a cataloque of solos, duets, trios, quartets, quintets, classical ensembles, percussion ensembles, bigband and or-chestral pieces, film scores and music for theatre.

In 2001, German concert promoter Rene Heinersdorff paid tribute to Mathias Haus’ compositions in a five-show concert series.

Mario J. DeCiutiis

Der Schlagzeuger Mario J. DeCiutiis ab-solvierte eine Ausbildung am Queens College, New York, zum Bachelor of Music Programm und lernte auch an der New York University unter Morris Lang (New York Philharmonic). Vibraphon studierte er bei David Friedman.

Seit 1979 ist DeCiutiis für die Radio City Music Hall in New York tätig. Als erster Percussionist des Orchesters hat er an un-zähligen Shows mitgewirkt, von großen Christmas-Shows und Themen-Abenden beispielsweise zu Liberace und Peter Allan über Stummfilm-Vertonungen, Ice Shows bis hin zu Musicals wie Porgy and Bess.

2007 entwickelte DeCiutiis dort die Electronic Percussion Section für die gro-ßen Christmas-Shows. Diese Aufgabe umfasste nicht nur den Einsatz der Instru-mente, sondern auch den gesamten dafür erforderlichen Bühnenaufbau sowie die Programmierung und das Sound Design.

DeCiutiis spielte in zahlreichen Broad-way- und Off-Broadway-Shows in New York City und ebenso auf National Road Tours, dazu gehörten Musicals und Shows wie West Side Story, King and I, On the Town, Bitter Suite, Mississippi Queen Cruise Lines. Daneben war DeCiutiis be-reits an zahlreichen Studio-Aufnahmen beteiligt, darunter auch „Sesame Street Goes Country“, eine CD für Kinder, die einen Grammy Award erhielt. Außerdem produzierte DeCiutiis viele pädagogische Musikvideos für das Unternehmen KAT Inc.

und entwickelte CD-ROMs mit Sequenzen von Electronic Percussion Instruments für Digital Samplers, MIDI Controllers etc.

Von 2006 bis 2007 unterrichtete De-Ciutiis Electronic Percussion am Broadway Percussion Seminar an der New York Uni-versity. Seit 1998 nimmt er regelmäßig als Dozent und Performer am KoSA Summer Percussion Camps teil. Seit 2010 gibt er zudem den Electronic Percussion Work-shop an der University of Delaware. Seit 1986 ist DeCiutiis Vice-President von KAT Inc. und wirkt an der Entwicklung, Her-stellung und dem weltweiten Vertrieb von KAT elektronischen Steuerungen mit. 1996 wird er President und CEO von Alter-nate Mode Inc. Das Unternehmen fertigt die komplette Linie der KAT MIDI Percus-sion-Controller und fördert auch die Aus-bildung für MIDI-Percussion.

Included instrument and pit setup, programming and sound design.

Taught Electronic Percussion at the “Broadway Percussion Seminar” at NYU

in 2006 and 2007. Participated at KoSA Summer Percussion Camps from 1998 to present, teaching classes and perfor-mances on Electronic Percussion.

In 1996 he became president and CEO of Alternate Mode Inc Alternate Mode ma- nufactures the complete line of KAT MIDI Percussion Controllers. Alternate Mode also focuses on the education of MIDI Percussion. The creation of Alternate Mode.tv allows for free internet classroom presentation.

Mirek Pyschny

Mirek Pyschny ist ein deutscher Jazz- und Improvisationsmusiker polnischer Abstammung (Schlagzeug, Percussion). Er spielte als Kind zunächst Klavier und Gei-ge, bevor er mit elf Jahren zum Schlag-zeug wechselte. Er studierte an der Mu-sikhochschule Köln bei Keith Copland im Hauptfach Jazz-Schlagzeug.

Er arbeitete unter andrem mit Paul Red-dick, Arve Henriksen, der Schäl Sick Brass Band, Butch Miles, Carmen Bradford, Eric Marienthal, Brad Leali, Pascal Niggen-kemper, dem Tabadoul Orchestra, Mat-thias Muche, Raimund Kroboth, Bodek Janke, Nicolas Simion, Hendrik Soll und dem JugendJazzOrchester NRW zusam-men. Ferner wirkte er bei Aufnahmen von Samy Deluxe, Terrence Ngassa und Math-ias Haus mit.

Seit 2011 unterrichtet er, als Nachfolger von Andy Gillmann, Schlagzeug/Drum-Set an der Musikhochschule Köln, Abtei-lung Wuppertal. Mit dem Trompeter und Live-Elektroniker Pablo Giw bildet er das Duo DUS-TI, das unter anderem 2012 auf dem Moers Festival auftrat. 2013 grün-dete er gemeinsam mit Pablo Giw das Musiklabel Ti-Records. 2014 erhielt Py-schny den Lehrauftrag für Schlagzeug an der Bergischen Universität in Wuppertal.

Mirek Pyschny

Mirek Pyschny is a polish-german mu-sician (drums, percussion).

He started to play the violin at the age of six and switched to Drums at the age of eleven. He studied jazz drums at the Cologne Music University (Germany) with Prof. Keith Copeland.

Since 2011 he teaches drums and per-cussion at the Cologne Music University in Wuppertal. With the trumpet player and live electronics engineer Pablo Giw he formed the band “DUS -Ti” which played the Moers Jazz Festival in 2012. One Year later he started the Record label “Ti-Re-cords”. In 2014, Pyschny recived the tea-ching assignment for Drums at the Bergi-sche Universität in Wuppertal

He toured worldwide with various bands/artists including: Paul Reddick, Arve Henriksen, the Schäl Sick Brass Band, Butch Miles, Carmen Bradford, Eric Ma-rienthal, Brad Leali, Pascal Niggenkem-per, Tabadoul Orchestra, Mathias Muche, Hendrik Soll. As a Sideman, Mirek played on many recordings including such as of Samy Deluxe, Terrence N´gassa , Martin Schulte and Mathias Haus.

He has released three Lp´s as a leader/co-leader with “dus-ti” in 2011, 2012 and 2014.
