We proudly present to you the new MASTERRIND Si-re Directory 2010, which includes a strong line-up ofHolstein bulls from Germany’s largest and most suc-cessful Holstein program plus a quality cross selectionof attractive MASTERRIND beef sires for all majorbeef breeds. Since the foundation of our company in2006, we can proudly declare that the MASTERRINDbrand name is fully established worldwide. MASTER-RIND semen has been successfully exported to part-ners in over 40 countries.

MASTERRIND represents over 7,000 farmer memberswith a population of 410,000 registered Holsteincows with exceptional 2008 records averaging8,867 kg milk with 4.12 % fat and an outstanding3.42% protein test.

The continued strength and growth potential of our or-ganization is characterized by the following numbersin 2008: over 90% milk recording in the membershiparea, 574,000 first inseminations in Holsteins, over2,5 million doses of global semen sales and livestocksales of nearly 70,000 head of cattle.

The heart of the organization is our open and interna-tionally-based Holstein progeny test program. The se-lection goal is focused on high milk and protein yieldin combination with good overall type, long herd lifeas well as positive udder health and fertility. This goalto breed for modern type, trouble free, high-producingcows, which are built to last and excel in all majorworkability traits leads to increasing customer satisfac-tion around the world.

A total of 250 Holstein and Red Holstein young siresare tested annually which are selected from the verybest and reliable cow families in Germany, Europeand North America. Currently, 25 MASTERRIND sirescan be found in the German Top 100 ranking list forTotal Merit Index RZG, which underlines the fact thatevery 4th bull originates from our regions in Lower Sa-xony and Saxony. For quite some time now, research scientists have beenexamining ways to use information at the DNA levelfor identifying genes of importance in dairy cattle im-provement, or markers associated with them. With theGenomic evaluation, officially available in Germanyin 2010, a new and powerful technology for geneticselection and improvement finds its way in the dairy in-dustry. The quality of the genomic information in thelong-term will be directly connected to the quality ofthe current proof evaluation system as well as DHI milkrecording system in each country. Take a close look at Allegro MR and you will quickly recognize his all round qualities. The Alle-gro daughters are tall with plenty of strength and capacity and tremendous dairyness. Rumpsare long with above average width and slightly higher pins. While the bone quality of thehocks is stronger, the cows track well and show a steep foot angle. Udders are of outstandingquality, carried high above the hock with strong central ligament. The excellent high and widerear udders complete his great level for overall udder quality. Developed by Hanover-Hill, members of this family continue to impactthe breed. Via his popular dam, Brigeen Integrity Robin EX-95, Duty will continue this influen-tial tradition. Duty transmits consistently high type to his progeny with particularly body capa-city and excellent udders. In addition, his daughters demonstrate a remarkable level of pro-duction for a Durham son. If Eddi were a sportsman, you could compare him with a decathlete. He is a typical all-rounderwith no real week points. With very good milk production in combination with an ideal somaticcell score and high functional herdlife, he is a must-use bull for every commercial dairy farm. Eddidaughters are very tall with plenty of strength and capacity, yet with plenty of dairyness. The wideand long rumps are slightly more sloped. Bone quality of the hocks is stronger and they track wellwith a steep foot angle. Udders are of outstanding quality; carried high above the hock withstrong central ligament. The daughters walk on very parallel feet & legs, and have an excellentquality. Very high and wide rear udders are a highlight of this bull, as well as the udder depth. On-ly the teat placement could be seen as wide on some daughters. Although he sires a lot ofstrength in the front-end and body depth, he can be recommended as an easy calving bull. Thisgreat combination of traits offered by Eddi will produce trouble free cows in freestall operations.
