benutzen.2. Verwahren Sie diese Anweisungen an einem sicheren Ort, um

spter immer wieder darauf zurckgreifen zu knnen.3. Folgen Sie allen Warnhinweisen, um einen gesicherten Umgang

mit dem Gert zu gewhrleisten.4. Folgen Sie allen Anweisungen, die in dieser Bedienungsanleitung

gemacht werden.5. Betreiben Sie das Gert nicht in der Nhe von Wasser oder in

Umgebungen mit starker Kondenswasserbildung, z.B. im Bade-zimmer, in der Nhe von Waschbecken, Waschmaschinen, feuch-ten Kellern, Swimming Pools usw.

6. Verdecken Sie nicht die Lftungsschlitze. Bauen Sie das Gert so ein, wie der Hersteller es vorschreibt. Das Gert sollte so aufgestellt werden, dass immer eine ausreichende Luftzufuhr gewhrleistet ist. Zum Beispiel sollte das Gert nicht im Bett, auf einem Kissen oder anderen Oberflchen betrieben werden, die die Lftungsschlitze verdecken knnten, oder in einer festen Installation derart eingebaut werden, dass die warme Luft nicht mehr ungehindert abflieen kann.

7. Das Gert sollte nicht in der Nhe von Wrmequellen betrieben werden (z.B. Heizkrper, Wrmespeicher, fen, starke Lichtquel-len, Leistungsverstrker etc.).

8. Vermeiden Sie starke Temperaturschwankungen.9. Achten Sie darauf, dass das Gert immer geerdet und das Netz-

kabel nicht beschdigt ist. Entfernen Sie nicht mit Gewalt den Erdleiter des Netzsteckers. Bei einem Euro Stecker geschieht die Erdung ber die beiden Metallzungen an beiden Seiten des Steckers. Die Erdung (der Schutzleiter) ist, wie der Name schon sagt, zu Ihrem Schutz da. Falls der mitgelieferte Stecker nicht in die rtliche Netzdose passt, lassen Sie den Stecker von einem Elektriker (und nur von einem Elektriker!) gegen einen passenden austauschen.

10. Schlieen Sie den Verstrker nur an eine geerdete Steckdose mit der korrekten Netzspannung an.

11. Netzkabel sollten so verlegt werden, dass man nicht ber sie stolpert, darauf herumtrampelt, oder dass sie womglich von an-deren spitzen oder schweren Gegenstnden eingedrckt werden. Netzkabel drfen nicht geknickt werden achten Sie besonders auf einwandfreie Verlegung an der Stelle, wo das Kabel das Gert verlsst sowie nahe am Stecker.

12. Verwenden Sie nur Originalzubehr und/oder solches, das vom Hersteller empfohlen wird.

13. Wird das verpackte Gert mit einer Sackkarre transportiert, ver-meiden Sie Verletzungen durch versehentliches berkippen.

14. Ziehen Sie den Netzstecker bei Gewitter oder wenn es lngere Zeit nicht gebraucht wird.

15. Das Gert sollte unbedingt von nur geschultem Personal repariert werden, wenn: Das Netzkabel oder der Netzstecker beschdigt wurde, Gegenstnde oder Flssigkeiten in das Innere gelangt sind, das Gert Regen ausgesetzt war, das Gert offensichtlich nicht richtig funktioniert oder pltzlich anders als gewohnt re-agiert, das Gert hingefallen oder das Gehuse beschdigt ist. Wartung: Der Anwender darf keine weiteren Wartungsarbeiten an dem Gert vornehmen als in der Bedienungsanleitung ange-geben. Sonstige Wartungsarbeiten drfen nur von geschultem Personal durchgefhrt werden.

16. Halten Sie das Gert mit einem weichen, trockenen Lappen sau-ber. Wischen Sie es gelegentlich mit einem feuchten Tuch ab. Be-nutzen Sie keine anderen Reinigungs- oder Lsungsmittel, die die Lackierung oder die Plastikteile angreifen knnten. Regelmige

Pflege und berprfung beschert Ihnen eine lange Lebensdauer und hchste Zuverlssigkeit. Entkabeln sie das Gert vor der Rei-nigung.

17. Stellen Sie den Verstrker niemals auf eine Unterlage, die das Gewicht des Gerts nicht tragen kann.

18. Achten Sie immer darauf, dass die minimale Lastimpedanz der angeschlossenen Lautsprecher nicht unterschritten wird.

19. Vermeiden Sie hohe Lautstrken ber einen lngeren Zeitraum. Ihr Gehr kann massive Schden davontragen Hrverluste sind fortschreitend und irreversibel!

Durch die Ver-wendung hochwertigster Bauteile deckt das kompakte Klangwunder alle Frequenzbereiche ab und berzeugt mit kraftvollem Grundsound.Die exklusiven Features in Verbindung mit unserer neu-en ultralinearen High-End Eingangsstufe definiert neue Mastbe in dieser Amp-Liga. Durch die effektiven Klangregelmglichkeiten werden alle Stilrichtungen hervorragend bertragen. Die Puma-Serie besticht durch ihre Vierband-Klangregelung, mit der auf einfache Weise eine Vielzahl unterschiedlicher Sounds eingestellt wer-den kann. Der TASTE-Regler erlaubt es, das Timbre des Instruments zu charakterisieren. In Mittelstellung verhlt sich der Ton neutral. 4 GAINDer GAIN-Regler erlaubt eine optimale Anpassung des Instruments an den Puma 1000. Leuchtet die CLIP-LED (#2) whrend des Spielens auf, kann durch Zurckdrehen des GAIN-Reglers (#4) das Instrument perfekt ange-passt werden. Stellen Sie den VOLUME-Regler Ihres Instru-ments nicht zu gering ein, da sich sonst Strungen auf dem Signalweg des Puma strker bemerkbar machen.

5 TASTEDer TASTE-Regler stellt eine Besonderheit des Puma 1000 dar. Dreht man den Regler in Richtung RICH nach

rechts (im Uhrzeigersinn), wird der Ton zunehmend mol-liger und strkt die Punch-Bsse bis hin zum warmen Vintage-Ton.Dreht man ihn nach links in Richtung DRY, bietet der TASTE-Regler die Mglichkeit, den knackigen Attack und knurrige Mitten strker herauszustellen.TIP: Mit dem TASTE-Regler kann man schnell und effektiv Instrumente, die ein wenig scharf und bissig klingen, etwas abmildern. Genauso ist es mglich, Bssen mit einem wummernden, un-definierten Halstonabnehmer durch Drehen in die DRY-Position mehr Definition zu geben.

6 ATTACK TIMEDer ATTACK TIME-Schalter erlaubt die Variation zwi-schen einer kurzen und einer langen Ansprechzeit des eingebauten hochwertigen Compressors (#7). Die kurze Ansprechzeit sorgt fr eine sofortige Komprimierung des Bass Signals. Die lange Attack Time (LED leuchtet) lsst mehr vom Anschlag stehen und bringt somit einen fetzi-gen Squash in den Ton.

7 COMPRESSORDer COMPRESSOR des Puma 1000 zieht die leise-ren Tne geschmeidig nach oben und sorgt dadurch fr eine heie Sustainverlngerung. Je weiter der COMPRESSOR-Regler aufgedreht wird, umso mehr wird der Kompressionseffekt angehoben. Der bei diesem Effekt generell entstehende Pegelverlust wird durch eine interne Regeleinheit elektronisch angeglichen, so dass beim Aufdrehen des COMPRESSOR-Reglers kein Pege-leinbruch entsteht.

1 INPUTStecken Sie den Klinkenstecker Ihres abgeschirmten Ins-trumentenkabels in die INPUT-Buchse. Stellen Sie den VOLUME-Regler Ihres Instruments nicht zu gering ein, da sich sonst Strungen auf dem Signalweg zum Puma 1000 strker bemerkbar machen.

2 -10Wenn Ihr Bass ber eine aktive Elektronik verfgt oder prinzipiell eine sehr hohe Ausgangsleistung hat, ist es ratsam, den -10-Schalter zu drcken (LED leuchtet). Hier wird der Eingang um 10 dB bedmpft. Eine Bedmpfung im Eingang ermglicht mit dem GAIN-Regler (#4) feine-re Abstimmungen vornehmen zu knnen, da sich der Re-

gelweg dadurch ndert Sie knnen den GAIN- Regler nun weiter aufdrehen, bis die Clip LED (#3) aufleuchtet.

3 CLIPDie CLIP-LED dient zur optischen Kontrolle, um das Instrument korrekt an die Vorstufe des Puma 1000 an-zupassen. Drehen sie den GAIN-Regler (#3) so weit auf, bis es whrend des Spielens auf dem Instrument bei groen Impulsen zum Aufleuchten der Clip LED kommt. Drehen Sie dann den GAIN-Regler (#4) soweit zurck, bis die Clip LED nicht mehr aufleuchtet. Das Ansprechen der CLIP-LED signalisiert, dass der Eingang der Vorstu-fe bersteuert und der GAIN-Regler (#4) zurckgedreht werden sollte.

Fr einen komfortablen und effektiven Regelweg ist die Abstimmung des Instruments an den Vorverstrker (sie-he Punkte 1-4) von groer Bedeutung.

8 BASS BOOSTDer BASS BOOST-Schalter hebt die Tiefen bei 30 Hz um 12 dB an. Er gibt dem Ton ein tiefsolides Fundament hnlich einem Rhren-Amp.

9 LODer LO-Regler regelt die Anhebung bzw. Absenkung um plus/minus 15 dB bei einer Frequenz von 30 Hz. Hier-durch wird ein mchtiger, klarer Bassdruck erzeugt.

10 LO MIDDer Arbeitspunkt des LO MID-Reglers liegt bei 250 Hz. Bei dieser Frequenz knnen die tiefen Mitten um jeweils 12 dB angehoben beziehungsweise abgesenkt werden. Dieser Regler erzeugt beim Aufdrehen den richtigen Kick, um den Bass-Sound im Bandgefge weiter nach vorne treten zu lassen.

11 HI MIDDer HI MID-Regler regelt wie auch der LO MID- Regler (#6) breitbandiger als der LO-Regler (#5). Er bestimmt die Anhebung bzw. Absenkung des oberen mitt-leren Frequenzbandes der Bassgitarre. Dieses Band arbei-tet bei 800 Hz. mit plus minus 12 dB Flankensteilheit.

Beide Mittenbnder wurden bewusst nicht so steilflan-kig gestaltet, um bei aufgedrehtem Regler einem drh-nendem Basssound entgegenzuwirken. Dreht man den HI MID-Regler zurck, erzielt man den beliebten mittenarmen Funksound von allererster Quali-tt.

12 HIDer HI-Regler regelt die Anhebung bzw. Absenkung des oberen Frequenzbereichs. Durch Drehen des Reglers kann man zwischen einem glasklaren, knalligen Rockbass-Sound oder einem abgedmpften Mute-Sound mit Reggae-Cha-rakter whlen. Die Einsatzfrequenz des HI-Reglers liegt bei 8 KHz. mit einer Flankensteilheit von 15 dB.

13 HI BOOSTMit einem Boost von 12 dB bei einer Einsatzfrequenz von 10 KHz. ist dieser HI BOOST-Schalter das richtige Werk-zeug fr diejenigen, die auch in dem obersten Hrbereich auf seidenweiche Klarheit stehen.

14 LINE/EFFECT MIXMit dem LINE/EFFECT MIX-Potentiometer (#14) kann das an der Buchse (# 26a) angeschlossene Line In- oder Effektsignal dem Bass-Signal stufenlos beigemischt wer-den. Der parallele Effekteinschleifweg (#26) dient zum An-schluss eines oder mehrerer Effektgerte. Verbinden Sie die Buchse SEND (#26b) mit dem Eingang und die Buchse RETURN/LINE IN (#26a) mit dem Ausgang Ih-res Effektgertes. Die RETURN/LINE IN-Buchse (#26a) kann auerdem genutzt werden, um externe Audioquellen (z.B.MP3-Player), oder einen zweiten Bass anzuschlieen, bzw. um die Endstufe des Puma 1000 separat zu betrei-ben.

15 MASTERMit diesem Regler wird die Ausgangslautstrke des Ver-strkers eingestellt. Er hat gleichzeitig Einfluss auf den Pegel des LINE OUT (#17) auf der Gerterckseite. Fer-ner kann hier der Pegel der an der AUX-IN-Buchse (#17) angeschlossenen Audioquelle dem Bass-Signal beige-mischt werden.

16 MUTEDer MUTE-Schalter sollte beim Einschalten des Puma 1000 gedrckt sein (LED leuchtet). In dieser Stellung wird

das Instrumentensignal nicht an die Ausgnge weiter geleitet. Allerdings gelangt das Instrumentensignal wei-terhin an die TUNER-Buchse (#16), so dass gerusch-los gestimmt werden kann. Sie mssen dafr nicht extra den Lautstrkeregler herunter drehen. Auch bei einem Instrumentenwechsel bietet sich dieser Schalter an, weil dann lstige Kontaktgerusche vom Klinkenstecker unterbunden werden. Der MUTE-Schalter unterbricht auch den symme-trischen XLR DI Ausgang (#12). Dabei spielt es keine Rolle, in welcher Stellung sich der DI-Schalter (#11) befindet. In Spielpausen sollte der Verstrker nicht ausgeschaltet, sondern der MUTE-Betrieb eingestellt werden. Die lf-

tergekhlte Endstufe wird dann im MUTE-Betrieb, falls notwendig, heruntergekhlt. Wird der MUTE-Schalter nicht gedrckt (LED leuchtet nicht), nimmt der Puma 1000 seinen Betrieb auf und lsst an alle vorhandenen Ausgnge Signal flieen.

17 POSTDieser Schalter bezieht sich auf den symmetrischen XLR DI-Ausgang (#18). Er bestimmt, ob das DI-Signal direkt am Eingang nach der ersten Verstrkungsstufe des Puma abgenommen wird (PRE), oder ob es erst die komplet-te Vorstufe inklusive Klangregelung und die Effektwege durchlaufen hat (POST). Ist der Schalter gedrckt, leuchtet zur Kontrolle die LED

auf. Der DI-Ausgang des Puma 1000 ist dann im POST-Modus.

18 DIDiese mnnliche XLR Buchse liefert ein symmetrisches Vorstufen-Signal zum Anschluss an die PA, fr Aufnahme-zwecke oder zum Ansteuern eines weiteren Verstrkers mit symmetrischen Eingngen. Durch die Verwendung hochwertiger Bauteile ist die Qua-litt des DI-Ausgangs auch besonders fr Aufnahmen im Tonstudio geeignet. Das Signal kann vor oder hinter der Klangregelung/Vorstufe abgenommen werden, abhngig von der Schalterstellung des POST-Schalters (#17).

19 POWERMit dem POWER-Schalter wird der Puma 1000 einge-schaltet. Vergewissern Sie sich unbedingt vor dem Ein-schalten, dass die eingestellte Netzspannung am Voltage Selector (#24) auf der Rckseite mit der auf der Steckdose anliegenden Spannung ber-einstimmt. Wenn das Gert eingeschaltet ist (am Schalter muss die Oberseite herunter gedrckt sein), leuchtet zur Kontrolle das auf der Frontseite befindliche blaue TecAmp Logo (#21) auf.

20 FS/MUTEAn diese 6,3 mm Stereo-Klinkenbuchse wird der optional erhltliche Fuschalter FSPUMA angeschlossen. Damit knnen Sie die MUTE-Funktion (#16) und den Com-pressor (#7) am Puma 1000 fernbedienen. Wenn der Fuschalter angeschlossen ist, muss der MUTE-Schalter (#16) ausgeschaltet sein. Zur optischen Kontrolle leuchtet im MUTE-Betrieb eine LED rot und fr den Compressor eine LED in gelb. Die Mute-Funktion am MUTE-Schalter (#16) bleibt auch bei angeschlosse-nem Fuschalter erhalten.

21 TecAmp LogoDas in der Gertemitte platzierte, blau beleuchtete, Te-cAmp-Logo signalisiert, dass der Puma 1000 eingeschal-tet ist. Wenn das mitgelieferte Netzkabel an der auf der Rckseite befindlichen Netzbuchse (#22) eingesteckt und der auf der Vorderseite befindliche POWER-Schalter (#19) eingeschaltet ist, leuchtet der TecAmp-Schriftzug unabhngig von weiteren Schalterstellungen.

22 Netzkabel/NetzanschlussIhr Puma 1000 besitzt einen Anschluss fr ein Kaltger-tekabel (#22), an das Sie das mitgelieferte Netzkabel an-schlieen. Stecken Sie den weiblichen Kaltgertestecker fest in die Netzbuchse.Bei dem Netzkabel muss es sich auf jeden Fall um ein dreipoliges, geerdetes Kabel mit Schukostecker handeln. Vor dem Anschluss des Gertes vergewissern Sie sich, dass die rtliche Netzspannung mit der auf dem Voltage Selektor (#23) eingestellten Betriebsspannung berein-stimmt.Versuchen Sie bitte niemals, die Masseverbin-dung (Erdung) am Schukostecker durch Abkleben oder hnliches zu unterbrechen, wenn Sie eine

Brummschleife haben. Die im Sicherungsfach (#22a) untergebrachte Sicherung schtzt das Gert vor Schden, die durch berlastung oder Beein-trchtigungen bzw. Fehler in der Netzversorgung entstehen. Wenn die Sicherung anspricht und durchbrennt, darf sie nur durch eine gleichen Typs und Werts ersetzt werden. Sollte die Netzsicherung nach Austausch sofort wieder durchbrennen, liegt ein ernsthafter Schaden vor, der nur durch einen autorisierten Service-Techniker behoben werden sollte. Bei den Sicherungen handelt es sich um Schmelzsiche-rungen mit den Abmaen 5 x 20 mm. Im Sicherungsfach (#22a) befindet sich eine Ersatzsicherung. Im Falle von

230 VAC und 115 VAC sind die Sicherungswerte beim Puma 1000 6,3 A/Trge. Wenn der Puma 1000 mit 115 Volt betrieben wird, muss der Voltage-Selektor (#23) auf 115 V gestellt werden.

23 VOLTAGEDer Puma 1000 besitzt eine VOLTAGE-Selektor, mit dem die Betriebsspannung des Gertes auf die der Netz-spannung angepasst werden kann. Werksseitig ist der VOLTAGE-Selektor auf 230 Volt eingestellt. Sollten Sie zum Beispiel den Puma 1000 in den USA betreiben, muss der VOLTAGE-Selektor auf 115 Volt eingestellt werden und die Sicherung im Sicherungsfach (#22a) auf 6,3 A/Trge gewechselt werden.

ACHTUNG: Prfen Sie bei jeder Inbetriebnahme, ob der VOLTAGE-Selektor auf die richtige Be-triebsspannung eingestellt ist. Falsche Einstellung kann hier zu groen Schden am Gert fhren.

24 SPEAKER BRIDGED MODEBeim Puma 1000 stehen drei Speakon-Anschlsse vom Typ NL4 MP zur Verfgung. Die Anschlsse sind mit 1- = minus und 1+ = plus belegt.Beim Betrieb im BRIDGED MODE(#24) ist darauf zu achten, dass die Gesamtimpedanz von 4 Ohm nicht un-terschritten wird! Drcken Sie unbedingt den BRIDGED MODE-Schalter (#24a) in die ON-Position, bis er ein-rastet. Der BRIDGED-Kanal ist nun betriebsbereit und die VOLUME-Potis (#25a und #26a) von CHANNEL A (#26) und CHANNEL B (#25) sowie der SUB-Filter (#25b) sind auer Betrieb gesetzt. Dieser Ausgang ist perfekt geeignet, um hochbelastbare Boxen wie zum Bei-spiel die L 610-4, die L 810-4 oder die Bad Cab-4 zu be-treiben. An dieser BRIDGED MODE-Buchse (#24) steht die volle Ausgangsleistung von 1000 Watt an 4 Ohm zur Verfgung. In diesem Fall drfen die Buchsen von Chan-nel A (#26) und Channel B (#25) nicht benutzt werden.TIPP: Achten Sie beim Anschluss von Lautspre-cherboxen auf ausreichenden Querschnitt des Kabels (wir empfehlen min. 2 x 2,5 mm2). The new TecAmp PUMA is extremely small in size but very big in sound. Composed of only the finest materials this compact sound machine covers a broad frequency range and impresses with a powerful punch.

Exclusive features and our new ultra-flat premium input stage set new standards in this amplifier class. The very effective tone controls suit all musical styles. The amps of the PUMA series boast a four-band tone control sec-tion which lets you easily dial any sound you want. The TASTE control emphasizes the tonal characteristics of the individual instrument. Set to the centre, the control has no effect on the signal. Turn it counter-clockwise to filter out some ultra-low frequencies and at the same time enhance a pronounced mid range. This is the ulti-mate fretless tone. Turn it clockwise to soften the high end which leads to a pumping bass sound.

Additional features like an effects loop, Tuner Out, Line Out, Line In, two Speakon outputs and a DI out with Pre/Post switch prove that the PUMA amps are extreme-ly versatile devices. 1 INPUTPlug in your shielded instrument cable into this jack. We advise you to always turn down the volume control on your instrument before plugging it into this jack.

2 -10When using a bass guitar with active pickups or basically delivering relatively high output levels we advise you to use this function. When this switch is engaged the signal will be attenuated by 10 dB before it reaches the GAIN and TONE controls. This mode is accompanied by an illu-minated blue LED above the switch. Attenuation allows the GAIN control (#4) to be used in a more subtle way by somehow altering the taper of the pot the GAIN control can be brought up to a higher position now.

If, on the other hand, the GAIN control must be turned all the way up without reaching a satisfying gain range, you better deactivate the -10 dB switch.

3 CLIPThe red CLIP LED helps you adjust the input sensitivity of the PUMA 1000 preamp so that the signal from your instrument best matches the preamps internal operating level. Turn up the GAIN control (#4) while you hit the strings of your bass hard until the CLIP LED starts flas-hing. Now back up the GAIN control a bit until the LED goes off. The flashing CLIP LED tells you that the input stage of the preamp is clipping somewhere and that you should either turn down the GAIN control (#4) or engage the 10 dB function (#2). Keep in mind that excessive use

of the LO control (#9) and BASS BOOST (#8) will raise the internal level and thus make the CLIP LED come on much earlier.

4 GAINThis control adjusts the basic signal level in the preamp and thus determines its sensitivity and overall dynamic characteristics. In order to best adjust your instruments signal level to the internal operating level of PUMA 1000 watch the CLIP LED (#3). Set the GAIN and/or the 10 dB function (#2) such that the CLIP LED just doesnt come up. Do not leave the volume control on your instrument set too low, otherwise noise picked up along the cable will become more prominent and thus lower the signal-to noise ratio of the amp.

5 TASTEThis unique feature adds to the superiority of the PUMA 1000s tonal qualities. Leave the control in the centre po-sition if you seek a more natural sound. When turned to the right (clockwise) towards RICH the sound gets increasingly fatter with lots of low-end punch, ending in a warm, vintage-like tone. When turned to the left (coun-ter clockwise) towards DRY this control adds urgent attack and midrange growl.The TASTE control allows you to quickly and effectively soften those instruments which sound a little harsh and scathing. At the same time bass guitars with a muddy, booming neck pickup gain definition by turning the TASTE control towards the DRY position.

6 ATTACK TIMEThis switch allows you to alter the attack time of the in-cluded high-end COMPRESSOR (#7). When the switch is not engaged the attack time is short which means that the signal is compressed immediately great for fretless sounds. When you depress the switch, which is accom-panied by an illuminated LED above it, the attack time is longer. Now the transients of the signal (the very first mo-ments of a note) pass the circuit unprocessed resulting in a hot, lively bass sound great for rock and funk sounds.

7 COMPRESSORThe COMPRESSOR of the PUMA 1000 gently pulls up low notes, thus providing a great, even sustain. The more you turn up the COMPRESSOR (to the right, i.e. clock-wise), the more audible is the compression effect. The level reduction usually associated with compression is made up by an internal automatic gain control. No matter how much compression you apply the signal level will always stay the same. In order to use the compressor conveniently and effectively adjusting the input sensitivi-ty (refer to #1 through #4) is of crucial importance.

8 BASS BOOSTThis switch, when engaged (the associated LED above illuminates), boosts the very low frequencies around 30 Hz by 12 dB. This adds a solid ground to the sound similar to a valve amp.

9 LOThis is the primary low frequency control. It allows for cutting or boosting the frequency range around 70 Hz

by 15 dB each. This frequency range represents the bot-tom end and massive yet distinguished punch in a bass guitar. Start from the 12 oclock position and dial in the sound you like.

10 LO MIDThe LoMID control is centred at 250 Hz and offers a cut or boost of 12 dB. The slope of this control is not as steep as the one of the LO control (#9). This frequency range, when turned up, determines the body of the bass guitar signal and lets the bass be heard in a mix. Turn it counter clockwise to reduce unwanted room resonance.

11 HI MIDThe HiMID control is centred at 800 Hz and offers a cut or

boost of 12 dB, again with a more gentle slope just like the LoMID control (#10). Due to the broader ranges which are covered by these controls the sound never gets boo-ming or honky when you turn them all the way up. Turning up the HiMID control gives you a great fretless sound. On the other hand, when you cut the HiMID range you end up with a funky slap sound of extremely high quality.

12 HIThe HI control is centred at 5 kHz and offers a cut or boost of 15 dB. Turn it up for a biting, crystal clear rock or funk bass. Turn it counter clockwise to reduce hiss or generally dampen the sound for a muted reggae feel.

Depress this switch and engage a boost of 12 dB at 10 kHz. The LED above will illuminate. This is your switch if your strings are dead or if you are into a more HiFi-like bass sound with silky top end.

14 LINE/EFFECT MIXSignals connected to the LINE IN / EFFECTS LOOP RE-TURN jack (#26a) can be added to the dry bass guitar signal according to your likings with this LINE/EFFECTS MIX control. The parallel EFFECTS LOOP (#26) is desig-ned for the connection of one or more effects devices. The RETURN/LINE IN jack (#26a) can also be used to connect various external audio sources to the PUMA 1000 such as an MP3 player, a second bass guitar, or in order to just use the power amp of the PUMA 1000.

The LINE / EFFECTS MIX is a balance control adjusting the level of the effects sound as compared to the dry sound of the PUMA 1000 preamp. With the EFFECTS MIX con-trol all the way to the left the signal of the external device, i.e. of the RETURN jack (#26a), is off. All you hear is the dry bass signal. Turning it up a little will add some effects to your sound. In this position (to the left of the knobs cen-tre position) the effects sound is processed in parallel with the unaffected or dry signal which enables you to preserve the integrity of the premium tone and feel the PUMA 1000 is capable of delivering. The more you turn the control clockwise, the more pro-minent will the RETURN signal become (i.e. the effect) while at the same time the dry signal will decrease. When the MIX control is turned all the way up to the WET position the EFFECTS loop effectively becomes a serial loop. Now the internal signal path is interrupted (rather than just tapped), sent out to the external device(s) where it gets processed (added with effects, modulated, modi-fied, whatever) and returned to the amplifier as a whole.

15 MASTERThis is the overall volume control of the PUMA 1000 and works on the two internal power amp sections. It deter-mines the level at the SPEAKER OUTPUTS (#27 - #29) as well as the LINE OUT jack (#25).Note: Each power amp features its individual VOLUME control on the back panel (#28a and #29a). Do make sure that they are turned up accordingly

wer up or down your PUMA 1000 the LED above the switch illuminates when the function is engaged. In this mode no audio signal will be processed and heard at any output except the TUNER jack (#24). That way you dont have to turn down the volume for silent tuning or when changing instruments, thus you do without the nasty cling which you usually hear when you unplug the jack. The MUTE switch also interrupts the signal path at the balanced DI OUT (#18), no matter which position the switch POST (#17) is in (that way your silent tuning or changing instruments wont be heard in the PA, either). During breaks the amp should be set to MUTE rather than switched off completely. That way the internal fan stays on and cools down the power amp circuitry if ne-

cessary. Disengage the MUTE function and start to rumble now there is signal at all outputs again.

17 POSTWith this switch the balanced DI OUT (#18) can be selec-ted to be a PRE or POST preamp signal. In the PRE position (switch is not depressed) the DI OUT signal is tapped directly after the input stage including the -10 dB function (#2), if activated, as well as the GAIN control (#4). In the POST position (switch depressed) the DI OUT signal is taken after it has been processed by the complete preamp, i.e. including the GAIN control (#4), the tone control section (#8 through #13), and the EFFECTS LOOP (#14, #26). It is not affected by the MASTER con-

trol (#15). As a reference the LED above the POST switch illuminates when the DI OUT is set to POST.

18 DIPUMA 1000 supplies a balanced line output signal for connecting to a house mixing board, recording console or external amplifier(s) with balanced inputs. Connect a shielded 3-core microphone cable with XLR plugs to this male XLR output. The need for an additional active DI box, which can be pretty expensive, is obsolete. Due to the advanced circuit design using only the best components available the high sound quality of the DI OUT makes it the amp of choice in any recording studio (you can use the PUMA 1000s pre amp on its own without driving any

speakers). The DI signal can be tapped either before or af-ter the preamp, as determined by the switch POST (#17). There is no need to be afraid of nasty ground loops as the DI output is soft-grounded.

19 FS/MUTEConnect the optional footswitch FSPUMA to this 6.3 mm stereo jack with the cable which comes included with the switch. This will allow you to switch the func-tions MUTE (#16) and COMPRESSOR (#7) remotely. For the footswitch to work properly the MUTE switch on the front panel of the amp must be OFF. There is a red LED indicating that the MUTE function is active, and likewise a yellow LED for the COMPRESSOR function. Even with the footswitch connected the MUTE func-tion can still be engaged with the MUTE switch on the front panel of the amp (#16).

22 POWER RECEPTACLEConnect the supplied AC power cord to the power recep-tacle. Make sure the Euro plug is firmly inserted in the socket. The other end of the cable should be connected to any standard grounded AC outlet or into a power strip of proper voltage. Before you plug in do make sure that the voltage is correct (see #23)! Just in case you lose the cord provided, the jack accepts a standard 3-prong IEC cord like those found on most professional gear and computers you can get it at any electronics, music or computer store.Never (!) remove or otherwise attempt to defeat the ground pin of the power cord in order to get rid of a hum induced by a ground loop.

22a poWer fuSeThe PUMA 1000 is fused for your and its own protection. If you suspect a blown fuse, disconnect the cord, pull out the FUSE DRAWER (#22a, located just below the cord receptacle) and replace the fuse with another suitable fuse. There should be a spare fuse in the fuse drawer. For 230 V and 115 V units the fuse for the PUMA 1000 must be a 6,3 A (amps) SLO BLO 5 x 20 mm. When youre in a country with a standard of 115 volts set the VOLTAGE SELECTOR (#23) accordingly.If two fuses blow in a row, something is very wrong. Do not open the unit. Refer service to qualified service per-sonnel.

23 VOLTAGEThe PUMA 1000 features a VOLTAGE SELECTOR al-lowing you to use your amplifier anywhere in the world just by the flick of a switch. The unit is set to 230 V when we ship to a country in Europe. Should you wish to use your PUMA 1000 in the USA set the VOLTAGE SELECTOR to 115 V. ATTENTION: Dont forget to set it back to 230 V when you return home! Tec-Amp cannot be made responsible for damages to the unit caused by improper voltage selection. Therefore it is a good idea to always check the VOLTAGE SELECTOR before powering up the unit.

24 SPEAKER BRIDGED MODEPUMA 1000 sports three Neutrik Speakon NL4 MP speaker outputs. The wiring of the pins is as follows: 1+ = hot, 1- = ground. The one on the right (looked from behind) is reserved for mono bridged operation. When operating the amp in MONO BRIDGE MODE care should be taken that the minimum load is no less than 4 ohms.24a BrIDGeD moDePress the switch BRIDGE ON/OFF just above this Speakon output until it rests in the ON position. In this mode neither the two VOLUME controls for CHANNEL A (#26a) and CHANNEL B (#25a) nor the SUB-BOOST filter (#25b) are active. The overall output level is controlled by the MASTER volume control (#15) on the front panel only. Make sure that the speaker out-puts of CHANNEL A (#26) and CHANNEL B (#25) are not being used.In MONO BRIDGE MODE the two internal power amps are combined to produce 1000 watts of continuous out-put power at a minimum load of 4 ohms. Be absolutely certain that the speaker cabinet(s) connected is (are) able to handle the extremely high output power of the amp. All TECAMP cabinets featuring at least 4 speakers will do the job easily (e.g. L410-4, XL412-4, L610-4, etc.). When you use a speaker cabinet with a lower power handling capacity do make sure that you operate the amp at moderate levels only, i.e. dont turn up the MASTER control (#15) too far.Whatever your setup is, always make sure that the spea-ker cables are as long as necessary but as short as possi-ble, using heavy gauge cable (we recommend at least 2 x 2.5 mm2). Do stick to speaker cables with Speakon con-

26 CHANNEL ACHANNEL A works exactly the same way as CHANNEL B with the exception of not offering the SUB filter. Thus you can connect one or two speakers (by daisy chaining them) with a total impedance of 2 ohms. The output pow-er rating is 500 watts. CHANNEL A and CHANNEL B can be operated simultaneously.CHANNEL A, just like CHANNEL B, features its own VOLUME control. It allows you to adjust individual

output levels for both channels and thus the cabinets connected. Do make sure that the BRIDGE ON / OFF switch (#24a) is in the OFF position otherwise this VOLUME control is not active.

25 CHANNEL BPUMA 1000 is equipped with two power amps, CHAN-NEL A and CHANNEL B, which can be used simultane-ously, each of them delivering 500 watts continuous output power at a minimum load of 2 ohms. Each power amp features one Neutrik SPEAKON connector. If you want to connect more than one speaker cabinet to the SPEAKON outputs you have to daisy chain one cabinet with the next. Just make sure that the minimum load of

each power amp is no less than 2 ohms. CHANNEL A works exactly the same way as CHANNEL B. Thus, in total, you could connect two cabinets with an impedance of 2 ohms each or four cabinets with an impedance of 4 ohms each to the PUMA 1000 simulta-neously.Both power amp channels have got their own VOLUME control. They allow you to set individual output levels for the cabinets connected thus leaving you with a couple of interesting options. Do make sure that the BRIDGE ON / OFF switch (#24a) is in the OFF position otherwise these VOLUME controls are not active.25b SuB on / offCHANNEL B features a unique SUB BOOST filter

doing two different things simultaneously: When this switch is depressed a low pass filter cuts all frequencies above 200 Hz. At the same time there is a level boost of 12 dB. This switch makes your PUMA 1000 the ideal amp for the use with a TECAMP PLEASURE BOARD together with a normal cabinet. Connect the Pleasure Board to CHAN-NEL B (#25) with the SUB BOOST function depressed and a normal speaker cabinet to CHANNEL A (#26) while balancing the output levels accordingly.

27 PHONE OUTThis 3.5 mm stereo jack lets you connect your headphones. With the MASTER volume (#15) you can control both the level of your instrument and the level of the audio sour-ce connected to the Aux In jack. It is possible to use your PUMA 1000 without a cabinet, so you can just play in any situation!

28 AUX INThis 3.5mm stereo Aux In jack provides the possibility to connect your mp3 player, your iphone or other external audio sources. You can control its level with the MAS-TER volume (#15) to blend it with your bass signal. Please use the included 3.5mm stereo cable to connect the audio source of your choice.

29b RETURN/LINE INConnect the output of the (last) external device to the RETURN jack. Always use high quality shielded instrument cables for connecting to and from external devices. Keep the cables as short as possible. If you notice crackling distortion when using external effects, either the batteries of the stomp box have run out, or the send level of the amplifier is too high for the processors input stage. In this case you better connect the device between bass guitar and amplifier. The RETURN / LINE IN jack (#29b) can also be used to connect various external audio sources to the PUMA such as an MP3 player, or in order to just use the power

amp of the PUMA. The MASTER control (#15) determi-nes the final output level. As the RETURN / LINE IN jack (#29b) is placed after the tone controls (#5 through #8).

29a SendConnect the SEND jack to the input of the (first) exter-nal device.

30 LINE OUTThis jack provides a line level signal for connection to a separate power amp, PA mixing console or recording equipment. The volume of the signal is controlled by the MASTER control (#15). Note that the output is muted when the MUTE function (#10) is engaged.
