NURSERY MEET THE TEACHER
On Monday 4th November, Nursery parents are asked to come at 9am and “meet the teacher” to find out more about
learning .
School Council become recording artists with JTA
On Tuesday, we went to a theatre in Peckham to take part in a programme all about
road safety. We were able to make a show. We had different things you could do—you
could rap, sing, beatbox and dance. In groups of 4, we make a show and perform it to
the other groups. When we were finished we came together to decide which show was
able to go into the recording studio to record their own podcast. It was so much fun!

Parents and carers are invited in to classes in Y1-6 to
see some of the creative ways your child has been

ideas of how to get creative in supporting your child’s
learning at home.
They take place in class from 9am on the
following dates:
Friday 8th November – Year 1
Friday 15th November – Year 6
Friday 22nd November – Year 4
Friday 29th November – Year 5
Friday 6th December – Year 3
Green Class Visit Narnia
Workshop
As part of their RE learning, Green
Class visited the Narnia workshop at the
Christian Resource Centre.
"They told us that in Narnia the lion is
called Aslan and he gets killed by the
White Witch. When he died, he came
back to life because it was a sacrifice to
save Edmund. This is similar to what
Christians believe happened to Jesus
when he sacrificed his life for lots of
people." - Khaled, Rakin and Ephraim
Children in Need 2019
‘To raise money for Children in Need on Friday 15th November, we would like everyone to wear something yellow for a donation of £1. We are also going to have face painting and a cake sale after school, so we would be very grateful if you could also donate some cakes (without nuts) to sell and raise more money. Thank you for supporting Children in Need!’

Parents can: Donate £1 for your child to wear something yellow on Friday 15th November, Donate cakes, Buy cakes
THANK YOU
We would like to say a big thank you to all the families who donated
towards our Harvest collection for the Manna centre. We received these
words of thanks:
Thank you for Tower Bridge School’s donation of food to the Manna Society. Your donation and ongoing support is greatly appreciated and essential to the continuation of the services we offer here to some of the
most disadvantaged people in our society.
The Manna Day Centre provides both a compassionate and practical response to London’s poverty and homelessness problems. For some, it’s a place where they can come for their only hot meal of the day. For others, it’s a listening ear and a welcome respite from another day living on the
streets. For others still, it’s a chance to get off the street and into accommodation.
The centre welcomes around 150 people every day, more than half of them homeless. We open 7 days a week and serve around 800 meals, 70 mugs of soup and countless cups of tea every week. As well as providing hot food and a place to rest during the day, the Centre also offers showers, clothing, access to medical care and advice on housing and welfare. Helping our clients move on from homelessness with all its concomitant insecurities and into a more settled lifestyle is a key
priority for us. In the last 12 months we have found accommodation for 339 people.
Although our building is given to us rent-free from the Roman Catholic Diocese of Southwark, we
are dependent on voluntary donations to raise approx. 85% of our annual £480,000 budget.
Please support the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal!

Hosting Climate Change
Last week, Tower
Bridge became the
location for the C40–
Breathe London
event. Cities came
together in person to
share best practices,
solutions and challenges at this Air Quality
Workshop in order to try and develop actions to
improve air quality and tackle climate change in
faster, more impactful and fairer ways.
