These corrections were applied, and the eleventh column exhibits then the error of the Nautical Almanac (observation minus calculation). - The longitude of the Observatory is 7h36m41586 east the seven wires, the sixth the reduction to the meridian, the seventh the clock-correction, the eighth the resulting of Greenwich. Plummer with the same in- strument and Sir Howard Grubb's chronograph except on the lgth Febr. 1894, when Mr. F. G. Figg observed. The clock-correction was determined by aid of the Nautical Almanac apparent places of stars. The first column shows the date, the second the Hongkong mean time, the third the limb of the moon, the fourth the position of the in- strument, - clamp east or west, - the fifth the mean of - Lb . Transits of the Moon across the Meridian of Hongkong. By W. Doberck.

The following transits of the moon were observed by me by eye and ear with Troughton & Simms's three inch transit instrument in 1884 and 1885. In 1893 and 1894 they were observed by Mr. J. I. Plummer with the same in- strument and Sir Howard Grubb's chronograph except on the lgth Febr. 1894, when Mr. F. G. Figg observed.
