SituationWhite Lodge is located in a wonderful elevated position, with

distant, off a private 'no through road' on the south coast between

Hythe and Sandgate. Hythe has a charming old High Street and

offers a range of shops, including a Waitrose supermarket. Nearby

Sandgate has many antique shops, pubs and restaurants.

Communications are good with the M20 (junction 12) connecting

to Ashford, London and the A20 trunk road to Dover. The Channel

Tunnel Terminal at Cheriton is nearby with regular services to the

Continent. Folkestone mainline station offers trains to London and

high speed trains are availalble from Ashford International to St

Pancras with a journey time from 38 minutes. Educational facilities

including The King's School at Canterbury, Kent College at

Canterbury, St Edmund's School and two universities at

Canterbury. Recreational and sporting facilities include a sports

centre, fitness club, dry slope skiing and horse racing at

Folkestone. There is golf at The Sene Valley and Hythe Imperial

Hotel. Sailing is available at Hythe Sailing Club, and rowing at

Sandgate Rowing Club; fishing and other water sports locally.

There are tennis, bowls, squash and cricket clubs in Hythe, as well

as cricket at the The St Lawrence Cricket Ground in Canterbury

which is also easily accessible.

Directions (CT21 5XN)From the M20, Junction 11 take the A20 Ashford Road signposted

to Hythe/A261/A20. After exiting the motorway roundabout, turn

left onto the A20/Ashford Road (signposted A20 Newington).

Continue for half a mile and turn right (immediately before passing

over the motorway) onto Sandling Road (signposted Saltwood and

Sandling Station). Continue on this road for 1.3 miles and, after

passing The Green in Saltwood, turn left onto School Road. At the

crossroads (by the 30 mph restrictions), proceed straight ahead

onto Tanner's Hill. After half a mile, turn left onto North Road and

then left at the junction onto Station Road (which becomes

Blackhouse Hill after the left hand bend). After 0.2 of a mile, turn

right onto Cliff Road. Continue for 0.6 of a mile, then turn left (after

The Briars) onto a private driveway. Follow the driveway for 0.2 of a

mile, taking the first fork on the left, and the entrance to White

Lodge will be found on the right hand side.
