Das schön gemalte klösterliche Mahnwort " V e r i t a s " t r a t e i n

w e n i g v o r dem Fahnenschmuck von 3^ N a t i o n e n zurück, von

der Bühne b l i c k t e der V o r s t a n d , etwas hoch p l a z i e r t , a uf

d i e Schar der unentwegten K o n f e r e n z t e i l n e h m e r i n n e n und

v o l l - k e r : d i e n i g e r i s c h e F r a u e n d e j e g a t i o n zog e i n , i n

m a l e r i s c h e r P r a c h t , d i e mein d u r c h e i n e n i g e r i s c h e Reise

oberflächlich g e s c h u l t e s Auge a l a , Y o r u b a s / B e n i n und

z w e i f e l l o s auch mohammedanische Q^nriluylimerinflön e r k a n n t e .

Aber was t a t e i n j u n g e r N i g e r e r , e i n Mann a l s o , i n m i t t e n

der F r a u e n d e l e g a t i o n d i e s e s j u n g e n d e m o k r a t i s c h e n S t a a t e s ?

Sympathie für i n t e r n a t i o n a l e Frauenkongresse?, U n k e n n t n i s

s t r e n g e r S p i e l r e g e l n ? oder was? I c h h a t t e j e d e n f a l l s b i s h e r

n u r e r l e b t , dass europäische Männer und Söhne ganz g e l e g e n t ­

l i c h m i t auf d i e Re i s e , aber n i c h t i n d i e Konferenzsäle

Was wären d i e i n t e r n a t i o n a l e n F r a u e n o r g a n i s a t i o n e n ohne d i e

H i l f e d er UN, was d i e heu t e aus 1 8 M i t g l i e d e r n bestehende

Commission für d i e F r a u e n f r a g e n ohne d i e F r a u e n o r g a n i s a t i o n e n ,

d i e den b e r a t e n d e n S t a t u s haben? Eine Symbiose h a t s i c h

da i n den J a h r e n s e i t 1 9 4 5 v o l l z o g e n , d i e i h r e Gutes haben

mag, d i e aber doch dazu b e i g e t r a g e n h a t , den Typ der b e r u f s -

mässigen V e r b a n d s v o r s i t z e n d e n zu erzeugen. Da w e r d e ^ fu^jkßM'<v^:::L^

Frauenseminare i n Bangkok, i n Bogota und A d i s A b e b a ^ ^ g e h a l t e n ^

y^äufig v o r oder nach Kongressen i n a l l e r H e r r e n Länder, Seminare,

i n der d i e G l e i c h h e i t s f r a g e n d i s k u t i e r t werden, und i n deren

A r b e i t s g r u p p e n immer mehr a f r i k a n i s c h e und a s i a t i s c h e Frauen

zu Wort kommen, m e i s t sehr i n t e n s i v . Die unerhört dünne

S c h i c h t d i e s e r mehr oder w e n i g e r g e b i l d e t e n f a r b i g e n Frauen

h a t noch etwas von der B e g e i s t e r u n g , d i e d i e a l t e Miss

Reeves auf einem Frauenkongress s t e r b e n l i e s s . Aber wie o f t

m i s c h t s i c h n i c h t e i n anderes Element i n d i e B e g e i s t e r u n g ?

N a t i o n a l i s m u s , der besd. S t a t u s d e r ^ F r a u aus einem e E n t w i c k l u n g s -

l a n d ? V o r u r t e i l e gegenüber den weissen Frauen, d i e i h r e r s e i t s

von jedem f a r b i g e n Neuzugang entzückt s i n d .

Da a l l e überparteilichen F r a u e n o r g a n i s a t i o n e n p o l i t i s c h und

k o n f e s s i o n e l l n e u t r a l s i n d , werden d i e w i r k l i c h e brennenden i n a n d e r

p o l i t i s c h e n Probleme/vermieden. I s r a e l i ^ und L i b a n e s i n n e n

schweigen höflich, P a k i s t a n i und I n d e r i n n e n d e s g l e i c h e n , weisse

Südafrikanerinnen fühlen s i c h von v o r n h e r e i n e i n e r unaus­

gesprochenen m o r a l i s c h e n K o l l e k t i v - V e r u r t e i l u n g a u s g e s e t z t .

Sehr grosse a f r i k a n i s c h e m F r a u e n o r g a n i s a t i o n e n aus einem

e i n z i g e n Land s i n d eher e i n Zeic h e n dafür, däss d i e grosse

^ i ^ h w e s t e r l i c l j e SolidarLtäty von der man so g e r n schwärmt,
