    Thisreceiptiswrittenalongthefibersofasinglerectangularsheetofpapyrus.Thepapyrusisingoodcondition,asthetextismostlypreservedexceptinafewplaceswhere it has been partially effaced. The receipt is written with a single cursivehand,whichforthemostpartisclearandregular.Theleftmarginofthetextisuniformlyindented1cmfromtheleftedgeofthepapyrus,whereastherightmarginrunsuptotheedgeoftherightsideofthepapyrus.Thereisnowritingontheback.

    Thereceipt is forthepaymentofthe()onapalmgrovetotalingthreearouraenearthevillageofPhiladelphiaintheArsinoite.ThereceiptisissuedbyanindividualbearingthenameAureliusAsassonofPsamisandhiscolleagues () who are collectively identified as the praktores argurikn ofPhiladelphia.Similarreceiptsinclude:O.Mich.I126(AD219/220or223/24);SBVI9431(28FebAD193);P.Fay.60(17NovAD149).InthereceiptthepraktoresarguriknacknowledgethattheyhavereceivedpaymentfromacertainDiogenessonofTourbon,anindividualwhoalsoappearsinotherdocumentsfromthirdcenturyPhiladelphia(seenote34),intheamountof80drachmae.

He then appears in BGUVII 1587 (3Oct AD 258), a receipt formoneytaxes,andtheninBGU1610(4OctAD259),areceipt issuedbythedekaprotoiofPhiladelphia.InBGUVII1611(15SeptAD283)hiswife,whoisidentifiedbyhisnameandwhomaywellbeawidowatthispoint,isissuedareceiptfromthegranaryatPhiladelphia.HealsoappearsinfourotherdocumentsfromPhiladelphiathatlackspecificdates:BGUVII1646(III):OffertoleaseaGranary;BGUVII1659(III): Receipt for Loan; BGU VII 1697 (III) (ostracon) and BGU VII 1699 (III)(ostracon)thatbothconcerngraintransport.

    7()().Theterminationof()isnotcompletelycertainasthetextispartiallyeffacedneartheendoftheword.Nevertheless,inmyopinion this reading is tobepreferred to since it seems that there is asuperscriptomicronwithadownwardstrokeindicatinganabbreviationsimilartowhatiswritteninl.1with[]().Inthetwosimilarreceiptsthatmentionthe , SB VI 9431.2 ( ()) and O.Mich. I 126.3 ([()]),theeditorshaveassumedthattheabbreviationmustbe();however,inlightofthepresentreadingitmaybewonderedwhethertheabbreviationcouldalsobe()?InP.Tebt.III.1815Fr.5recto,42(223221BC),whichsharesa similargrammatical constructionwithSBVI9431.2andO.Mich. I126.3,withoutanabbreviation isattested.Nevertheless, therearenumerousexampleswhereiswrittenoutinfullwithoutabbreviation.The3arouras referred tohere represent thecombinedareaof thegrovementionedinthepapyrusatll.89.
