Liebe Freunde der Freien Waldorfschule Uhlandshöhe, liebe Gäste!

Hiermit möchten wir Sie herzlich zu unserem Festakt am 7. September 2019 in die Lieder-halle Stuttgart einladen. Wir würden uns freuen, mit Ihnen – genau 100 Jahre nach der Gründung der Schule durch Rudolf Steiner und Emil Molt im Stuttgarter Stadtgarten – diesen besonderen Tag zu feiern.

In diesem Heft fi nden Sie die Programme aller Festlichkeiten:

Am Samstagvormittag wird es im Beethoven-saal der Liederhalle einen Festakt geben mit dem Orchester der Schule, einem Chor aus Namibia und einer Trommelgruppe aus Japan sowie ver schiedenen Festreden. Falls die Plätze im Saal nicht ausreichen sollten, wird die Ver anstaltung per Video in die an-deren beiden Säle übertragen.Bitte beachten Sie besonders die Hinweise, wie Sie an die unentgeltlichen Eintrittskarten im Beethovensaal gelangen!

Am Nachmittag wird es im Silchersaal ein Figurentheater für Kinder geben, anschlies-send ein Podiumsgespräch mit ehemaligen Schüler*innen der Schule. Im Mozartsaal wer-den Darbietungen verschiedener Stuttgarter Waldorfschulen zu erleben sein. Nach einem Vortrag von Christof Wiechert aus Dornach folgt zum Abschluss dieses Tages eine große Eurythmie-Aufführung durch Schüler der Freien Waldorf schule Uhlandshöhe.Voraussichtliches Ende ist gegen 21:00 Uhr.

We take great pleasure in inviting you to our centennial celebrations in the Liederhalle in Stuttgart. We would be delighted to celeb-rate these special and signifi cant days with you exactly 100 years after the school was offi cially founded by Rudolf Steiner and Emil Molt in the historic city park Stadtgarten in Stuttgart.

In this brochure, you will fi nd information on all the festivities:

On Saturday morning there will be a cere-mony in the Beethovensaal with the school orchestra, a choir from Namibia and a drum-ming group from Japan, as well as various speakers. Should there be insuffi cient space in the hall, there will be live streaming of events shown in the other two halls.For all the festivities in the Beethovensaal, you will need free entry tickets. To get these, please follow the instructions on the inside back cover of this brochure!

In the afternoon in the Silchersaal, there will be a performance of fi gure theater for child-ren, followed by a podium discussion with former pupils of the school.In the Mozartsaal there will be performances by our pupils together with pupils from other Waldorf Schools from the Stuttgart area.After a public lecture by Mr. Christof Wiechert from Dornach, the day will close with a large-scale eurythmy performance by pupils of the Waldorf School Uhlandshöhe, which isexpected to end at about 9.00 p.m.

Initiator of Waldorf education and founder of anthroposophy. Formal study of science and philosophy and editor of Goethe’s scientifi c writings. During and after the First World War, Steiner was the source of impulses for renewal in diverse areas of society and culture, such as social threefold­ing, biodynamic farming, anthroposo­phic medicine, organic architecture, as well as new speech and movement artforms.

Social reformer, theosophist, anthro­posophist, founder and owner of the Waldorf­Astoria Cigarette Factory located in Stuttgart and Hamburg. After the First World War Molt wanted to improve the social conditions of his employees and founded the fi rst Waldorf School for their children in Stuttgart. The school was ori­ginally legally and fi nancially part of the Waldorf­Astoria Cigarette Factory. Since 1920 a separate legal entity, the “Verein für ein freies Schulwesen Waldorfschul­verein e.V.” has supported and operated the Waldorf School Uhlandshöhe.

und Bewegungskunst.

Sozialreformer, Theosoph, Anthropo­soph, Gründer und Besitzer der in Stutt­gart und Hamburg ansässigen Waldorf­

Astoria­Zigarettenfabrik. Er wollte nach dem Ersten Weltkrieg zur „Besserung der

sozialen Verhältnisse“ seiner Arbeiter beitragen und gründete deshalb für deren Kinder die Waldorfschule in Stuttgart. Die

Schule war rechtlich und wirtschaftlich Teil der Waldorf­Astoria­Zigarettenfabrik.

Seit 1920 ist der „Verein für ein freies Schulwesen Waldorfschulverein e.V.“

rechtlicher Schulträger der Freien Waldorfschule Uhlandshöhe.

Im Anschluss an seine Schulzeit an der Freien Waldorfschule Uhlands-

höhe studierte Patrick Strub zu- nächst Musikwissenschaft und Psychologie, an schließend Violine in Hamburg und Rom

und Dirigieren in Hamburg und Siena. Einen besonderen Schwerpunkt legt

Patrick Strub heute auf die Förderung junger Musiker*innen.

Immediately after finishing school at the Waldorf School Uhlandshöhe, Patrick Strub studied music and

psychology, followed by violin in Hamburg and Rome, then conducting in Hamburg and Siena. Today, Patrick Strub places a special emphasis on supporting and promoting young musicians.

Dorothea Stepp

Dorothea Stepp wurde 1996 in Stutt-gart geboren, war Schülerin an der Freien Waldorfschule Uhlandshöhe und studierte bereits mit 10 Jahren an der

Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien in Hannover am Institut zur Früh-Förderung (IFF). Seit Februar 2014 ist sie Studentin an

der Musikhochschule Hanns Eisler Berlin bei Prof. Antje Weithaas.

In 1956, the people of Stuttgart rebuilt “their” Liederhalle, which had suffered severe air-raid damage. Architects were the former Waldorf pupil Rolf Gutbrod and Adolf Abel.

Since then, the Liederhalle has become a centre of the cultural and social life of the city. These concert halls are not only unique due to their unusual architecture and wonderful accoustics. The artists who have filled them with music and brought them to life over the years have also played their role: world-renowned stars of classical music, jazz, and pop, as well as local musi-cians, researchers, economic experts, and scientists.

Today, the Liederhalle counts as one of the most important German cultural heritage buildings of the post-war era. In this concert building, elements of expressionist and organic architecture have been brought together. Architecture and visual arts have melded into a single entity, in which neither can be thought of independently of the other.

Nach einem schweren Luftangriff im Zweiten Weltkrieg zerstört, bauten die Stuttgarter

„ihre“ Liederhalle im Jahre 1956 wieder auf. Architekten waren der ehemalige Waldorf-

schüler Rolf Gutbrod und Adolf Abel.

Seitdem hat sich die Liederhalle zum Zent-rum des kulturellen und gesellschaftlichen

Lebens der Stadt entwickelt. Was diese Räume so einmalig macht, sind nicht nur

die außergewöhnliche Architektur und ihre wunderbare Akustik, es sind auch die Men-

schen, die die Hallen und Säle mit Geist und Musik erfüllt und zum Leben erweckt haben: Weltstars aus Klassik, Jazz und Pop ebenso

wie die Stuttgarter Musikszene, Forscher, Wirtschafts experten und Wissenschaftler.

Heute gilt die Liederhalle als einer der wichtigsten deutschen Kulturbauten der

Nachkriegszeit. In diesem Konzert- und Veranstaltungshaus haben sich Elemente der expressionistischen und organischen

Architektur miteinander verbunden. Architektur und Bildende Kunst sind hier

zu einer Einheit verschmolzen, in der die eine Ausdrucksform nicht mehr unabhängig von

der anderen gedacht werden kann.

Dorothea Stepp

Born in Stuttgart in 1996, Dorothea Stepp attended the Waldorf School Uhlandshöhe. As a ten-year-old, she

studied as part of the early talent program-me at the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien in Hannover. Dorothea has been studying with Professor Antje Weithaas at the Musikhochschule Hanns Eisler in Berlin since 2014. www.orchester.waldorfschueler.de

is showing the history of the city of Stuttgart, including the history of the Waldorf-Astoria Cigarette Factory and the Waldorf School Uhlandshöhe.

Das neue StadtPalais, Museum für Stuttgart

zeigt die Stadtgeschichte Stuttgarts und innerhalb dieser auch die

Geschichte der Waldorf-Astoria-Zigarettenfabrik und der

Waldorfschule Uhlandshöhe.

Dieses Gebäude war einst der Wohnsitz des letzten württem-

bergischen Königs Wilhelm II.Konrad-Adenauer-Straße 2,

70173 Stuttgart

This is absolutely vital as places are limited and, for safety reasons, the halls may not be overfilled.

There are no entry tickets for the Mozartsaal and the Silchersaal. However, seating there is also limited.

„Wir wollen bescheiden, aber mit starkem Wollen beitragen zur Besserung

der sozialen Verhältnisse. Es war wenig vorhanden, nur Mut und Wille, wenig

Kinder, kein Gebäude, keine Lehrer, viel Arbeit.

Es kommt darauf an, dass wir ganze Menschen erziehen, solche, die nicht nur

totes Kopfwissen haben, sondern vor allem soziales Empfinden für andere.

Das Wort Schule ist ein enges Wort, es muss weit gefasst werden: Menschen-

bildungsstätte. Resignation hat sich eingeschlichen in Bezug auf Menschheits-fragen; man verzichtet darauf, den vollen

Ertrag der Schulen hineinzunehmen in das soziale Leben.

Die Bildung, die in der Waldorfschule leben will, ist: der Mensch selbst soll

Methode werden. Ein Geist, der lebens-tüchtig ist, soll die Pädagogik durch-

ziehen. Richtunggebend soll sein das praktische Leben.

Tief in die Vergangenheit hineingehen, weit in die Zukunft ausholen.“

“Modestly but resolutely, we desire to contribute to an improvement in social conditions. There was little available to us apart from courage and will-power, few children, no buildings, no teachers, and a large amount of work.

It is essential that we educate whole people, who not only possess dead intellectual knowledge, but rather have a social sensitivity to the needs of others.

The word “school” has a narrow meaning that needs to be expanded to “center for human development”. Resignation has spread concerning questions of humanity and we neglect to fully use the possibili-ties of schools in forming social life.

The educational culture that seeks expression at the Waldorf school: the person themself should become the method. A life-enabling spirit should pervade the pedagogy. Practical life should be the guiding force. Reaching far back into the past, striding out into the future.”
