With immense pleasure Annual Report for the academic year 2015-2016 is submitted.

Implementation of UGC funded carrier oriented programmes by the departments of Chemistry

and Commerce, UGC funded Coaching for Entry into Government Services, Research Projects,

Activities of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell, Research Guidance Cell, Library Advisory

Committee and Vellikallam are commendable. Computer Literacy campaign for non-computer

students was successfully launched by IQAC and Department of Computer Science. Short term

value added courses are offered by Department of English (both Regular and Self financed) and

Computer Science. Progress is evident in the pass percentage of the out gone batch.

Updating subject knowledge by the teachers and students, publishing research articles,

students’ participation in outdoor curricular activities are the remarkable features of the report.

Vellikallam

Vellikallam an unique forum functioning under the aegis of the Department of Tamil

strives to identify and nourish the talents of the students.

During this year also, Vellikallam arranged various competitions and promoted

students’ skills.

During the Pongal Day celebrations, Competitions on Indigenous values were

conducted on 13-1-2016.

Vellikallam trained the oratorical skills of the students. A team of 39 students were

participated in the cultural training programme on 30-9-2015 which was conducted by All

India Radio FM, Nagercoil. A team of 32 students were selected and participated in the live

telecast programme of All India Radio FM, Nagercoil on 7-10-2015.

NNaattiioonnaall SSeerrvviiccee SScchheemmee ::

Three days campaign on “SWACHH BHARAT – CLEAN INDIA” was held in the

College campus for three days between 8-10-2015 to 10-10-2015.

Independence Day on 15-8-2015 and Republic Day on 26-1-2016 was celebrated on the

campus.

An Eye Camp was organised on the campus on 9-9-2015 by Vasan Eye care, Nagercoil.

Twenty five NSS Volunteers taken part in rally on 25-1-2016 on National Voters day.

National Deworming day Campaign was organised on 10-2-2016.

Twenty NSS Volunteers involved in Pulse Polio immunization programme on 17-1-

2016 at Christopher Bus stand, Vadasery.

Relief materials were collected by NSS Volunteers and sent to the flood affected people

in Chennai and Cuddalore on 11-12-2015 through the NSS Cell, Manonmaniam Sundaranar

University, Tirunelveli-12.

Programme Officer of the Unit 88, Dr. C. Subathra attended the Orientation Programme

at Avinashilingam University, Coimbatore (13-11-2015 – 19-11-2015)

Ten NSS Volunteers and the Programme Officer of the Unit 88,

Dr. C. Subathra attended Workshop on First aid Management at Thiruvalluar College,

Papanasam on 8-1-2015.

NSS special camp was conducted by Units 87, 88 and 89 during March 4 -10, 2016 at

Kuzhumaikadu, Pandarakadu and Kootuvilai in Villukuri Panchayat.

On 24-4-2016, a team of 82 NSS volunteers from units 87, 88 & 89 and the NSS

POs Dr. C. Jayasekaran (unit 89) and Dr. C. Subathra (unit 88) were attended the one day

special camp Vathsalya Bhavam (Varmam Therapy for children with special needs) sponsored

by Pioneer Kumaraswamy Centenary Foundation.

first prize in the English Elocution competition.

Seven YRC Volunteers and the programme officer have attended the Study Camp on

the Topic “History of Youth Red Cross” at Sree Ayyappa College for Women, Chunkankadai

on 12-1-2016.

Eight YRC Volunteers have attended the Youth Red Cross Day Celebration organised

by Indian Red Cross Society, Kanyakumari District Branch at Scott Christian College,

Nagercoil.

Elocution and Essay Writing Competitions were conducted on 15-2-2016 to mark the

Youth Red Cross Day. M. Subha, I B. Sc Chemistry and A. Vaigundarajan, III B.A English

got the first prize.

Awareness programme was conducted on 30-3-2016 Dr. V. Venukumar, District

Organiser of Youth Red Cross, Nagercoil was the chief guest.
