Vorwort

Nach vielen positiven und negativen

Erfahrungen als aktiver Musiker habe

ich 2005 entschieden, meinen eigenen

Modifikations & Reparaturshop zu

gründen. Einige Zeit später habe ich

dann angefangen, selber eigene Amps

und Boxen zu bauen und zu entwickeln.

Dies alles führte zur Gründung von

„Audio Amp(lifier) Co(mpany)“ 2006.

Innerhalb der letzten Jahre habe ich viele

Vintage und Boutique Amps in meiner

Werkstatt gesehen und gehört. Die mei-

sten alten Amps bieten nur einen guten

Sound mit einer speziellen Gitarre, nicht

mit jeder Gitarre; sogar die sehr teuren

Boutique Amps anderer Anbieter machen

dies für gewöhnlich. Zu diesem Zweck

habe ich spezielle Schalter und Regler

entwickelt, um mehr Klangmöglichkeiten

in einem immer noch puristischen und

einfachen Verstärkerkonzept anzubieten.

Das Kopieren alter Verdrahtungsschemen

bedeutet das Kopieren jedes Fehlers, der

in der Vergangenheit gemacht wurde,

ohne neue, sinnvolle Ausstattungsdetails

für den Musiker von heute hinzuzufügen.

Mein Hauptaugenmerk ist es, diese Flexi-

bilität mit allen meinen Amps anzubieten,

ebenso eine mechanisch bessere und

servicefreundlichere Konstruktion mit

kürzeren Signalwegen und leichterem Zu-

griff auf alle Baugruppen. Dies verbessert

die Anspracheempfindlichkeit, die Wie-

dergabe und die Spieldynamik immens.

Durch meine lange Tätigkeit als Toninge-

nieur bin ich mit vielen akustischen und

mechanischen Problemen konfrontiert

worden; als Ergebnis dieser Erfahrung

habe ich mich sehr intensiv mit Laut-

sprechern und Gehäuseentwicklung

beschäftigt.

Meine Lautsprechergehäuse sind keine

Kopien der altbekannten Standards der

Vergangenheit, sondern verwirklichen

etliche neue Entwicklungsaspekte,

andere Holzverarbeitung und leichtere

Handhabung mit neuen Klangdimen-

sionen und Möglichkeiten.

Elektronisch und klanglich betrachtet

kenne ich alle neuen Röhren verschie-

dener Hersteller, weiß wie sie klingen

und wie ich sie einsetzten muss, um einen

Verstärker für einen spezifischen Kunden

abzustimmen. Ein nicht zu unterschät-

zender Vorteil für den Nutzer gegenüber

Massenware.

Introduction

After many positive and negative experi-

ences as an active musician I decided

to establish my own amp mod & repair

shop in 2005. After a while I started also

building and designing amps & speaker

cabinets by myself. This all led to run

“Audio Amp(lifier) Co(mpany)” in 2006.

Through the last years I’ve seen and

heard many famous vintage and boutique

amps in my workshop. Most old amps

offer only one good sound with a

particular guitar, not with every guitar;

even the high priced boutique amps

from other competitors do that usually.

Therefore I designed special switches

and controls to offer more possibilities in

a still pure and simple amplifier concept.

Copying old layouts means copying

every mistake they did in the past,

without adding new, suggestive

features for the musician of today.

My special attention is to offer this

flexibility with all of my amps, also

doing a mechanically better and more

service friendly construction with

shorter signal paths and easy access to

all parts. This improves touch sensivity,

response and playing dynamics immense.

Through my long time career as an audio

engineer I’ve been confronted with many

acoustical and mechanical problems;

as a result of this experience I applied

to speakers and speaker cabinet design

intensively.

My speaker cabinets are not copies of the

well known standard cabinets from the

past, instead they offer many new design

aspects, different woodwork and an

overall different handling with new sound

dimensions and possibilities.

Electronically and tonally I also know how

all the new tubes from different brands

sound and how to use them in an amp to

fine tune it for the individual customer.

This is a not to underrate advantage for

the user against the mass products.
