1. Die Einführung

eisfair ist ein einfach zu installierender Internet-Server, der als zugrundeliegendes Betriebs-system Linux verwendet und aus dem Schwesterprojekt fli4l hervorgegangen ist. Es wirdausschließlich freie Software verwendet. Die Installation, wie auch der Betrieb von eisfair, set-zen grundsätzlich keine Linux-Kenntnisse voraus und sind mit einfachen und - besonderswichtig - einheitlichen Mitteln möglich.

Intention ist die Installation eines Internet-Servers, bei dem die angebotenen Applikationenund Dienste im Vordergrund stehen sollen, nicht das Betriebssystem selber.

Ein durchschnittlicher Anwender wird durch die enorme Funktionsvielfalt einer modernenLinux-Distribution, wie z.B. SuSE, regelrecht erschlagen und ist schon bei der Auswahl dernötigen Pakete schlichtweg überfordert. Genau hier soll eisfair den Anwender unterstützen.Die für Linux/Unix verfügbaren Applikationen zeichnen sich üblicherweise dadurch aus,dass sie einerseits sehr ausgereift sind und stabil laufen, andererseits jedoch alle verschiedenzu installieren und zu konfigurieren sind. Jedes Software-Paket kocht diesbezüglich sein ei-genes Süppchen. Die für eisfair angebotenen Anwendungen verfügen über eine einheitlicheKonfigurationsschnittstelle, sodass sich der Aufwand für die Einarbeitung und Konfigurati-on auf ein Minimum reduzieren lässt.

Um dies mit den verfügbaren Applikationen für Linux zu realisieren, wurde in die Konfi-gurationsschnittstelle, also zwischen dem eisfair-Systemverwalter und den jeweiligen Appli-kationen, eine Schicht eingefügt, welche eine typische eisfair-Konfiguration in die applikati-onsspezifischen Konfigurationen der jeweiligen Dienste (z.B. eines Mail- oder Webservers)umsetzt. Damit wird der Einsatz von gängigen Internet-Diensten möglich, ohne dass sichder Verwalter eines eisfair-Systems mit der (übrigens auch sehr heterogenen) Dokumentationeines konkreten Programms auseinandersetzen muss. Zwar muss man eventuell Abstrichebei speziellen Anforderungen machen, weil nicht jedes Feature eines Programms allgemeinumgesetzt werden kann oder wird, jedoch vereinfacht dies häufig die Konfiguration deutlichund ist somit oft hinnehmbar.

Die eisfair-Konfiguration wird auf ASCII-Dateien abgebildet, die einem einheitlichen Formatunterliegen. Die Bearbeiten der Konfiguration kann mit einem Texteditor (joe, vi), dem ECE(ein spezieller eisfair-Editor) oder mit dem Webkonfigurator Webconf erfolgen.

Der Ressourcenbedarf eines eisfair-Systems wurde möglichst gering gehalten, um einen Internet-Server innerhalb wenigen Minuten installieren und betreiben zu können. Die Anforderungen

an die Hardware sind dabei gering. Als Vorbild dient auch hier das fli4l-Projekt, wobei jedochnicht die extrem minimalistische Realisierung übernommen wurde, sondern primär das Kon-zept.

1.1. Die Kenndaten zum Betriebssystem

• Einfache Installation des Basissystems über eine circa 50 MB große CD-ROM, einenUSB-Stick oder auch durch Netboot(PXE)

• Installation / Update von weiteren Paketen über das Internet oder CD-ROM

• Installation / Konfiguration von Applikationen im laufenden Betrieb

• umfangreiche Dokumentation in deutscher Sprache, speziell für Linux-Anfänger

• zahlreiche Serverdienste

1.2. Die Hardwarevoraussetzungen

• CPU: Pentium 66

• Hauptspeicher: 32 MB, besser 64 MB

• Massenspeicher: mindestens 120 MB Festplattenplatz, später auch CompactFlash™

• Sonstiges: Eine Netzwerkkarte zum Anschluss an das lokale Netzwerk (LAN)

• Optional: Eine ISDN-Karte oder weitere Netzwerkkarte für den DSL-Anschluss

Die genannten Hardwaredaten sind als absolutes Minimum zu betrachten. Viele Pakete, z.B.Datenbanken, benötigen je nach Einsatz zum sinnvollen Arbeiten eher eine Hardware-Ausstattungen,die um ein vielfaches darüber liegen.

1.3. Der Internet-Anschluss

eisfair sollte hinter einem Router bzw. einer Firewall eingesetzt werden. Im Zusammenhangmit der Virtualisierungssoftware XEN (Siehe eisXen) ist auch eine gemeinsame Nutzung vonfli4l und eisfair auf einem Computer, unter Beibehaltung des Sicherheitsgedankens, möglich.

Optional ist für den Server auch eine minimale Router-Funktionalität verfügbar:

• Anschluss an DSL und/oder ISDN

• Masquerading, um ein LAN anzubinden

Empfohlen wird jedoch der vom Internet-Router getrennte Betrieb von eisfair, z.B. hinter ei-nem fli4l-Router.

Die mittlerweile stark angewachsene Zahl von Server-Lösungen für fli4l zeigt, dass ein enor-mer Bedarf nach einem einfach zu konfigurierenden (Internet-)Serversystem besteht. Um denarg strapazierten fli4l-Router (der eigentlich kein Server sein sollte!) zu entlasten, wurde daseisfair-Projekt im Frühjahr 2001 als Idee geboren.

eisfair ist ein Projekt neben fli4l, welches dessen Leistungsspektrum ideal ergänzt. Eine Haupt-aufgabe ist es, viele der mittlerweile für fli4l vorhandenen Anwendungslösungen auf eisfairzu übertragen und so den Router von Serveraufgaben zu befreien, die für einen Router ei-gentlich gar nicht angebracht sind und sogar in sicherheitsrelevanten Umgebungen kritischsein können.

2. Die Installation

Die Installation kann auf mehrere Arten erfolgen.

Die „CD-Variante“ verwendet ein ISO-CDROM-Image, welches mit einem herkömmlichenBrennprogramm auf eine CDROM gespielt wird. Diese Variante setzt in der Regel auf deraktuellen eisfair-Version auf (kleinere Zeitverzögerungen zwischen der Freigabe des Update-Paketes und der Freigabe des entsprechenden CDROM Images sind allerdings immer mög-lich).

Die „USB-Stick Variante“ wird von einem ISO-CDROM-Image erstellt. Wer über ein Linuxmit grafischer Oberfläche oder Windows verfügt, kann ein Programm wie UNetbootin ver-wenden. Ansonsten ist es erforderlich, dass auf der CDROM befindliche mkusb-stick.sh Pro-gramm auszuführen, welches sich im Unterverzeichnis „unix“ befindet. Dies ist jedoch zurZeit nur unter Linux möglich.

Die „PXE-Netboot-Variante“ startet die Installation über das Netzwerk, wobei auf ein zen-tral abgespeichertes CDROM-Image zugegriffen wird. Diese Variante lässt sich von einemWindows- oder Linux-PC oder auch direkt von einem eisfair-Server ausführen.

2.1. Vorbereiten der Installationsmedien

Das ISO-CDROM-Image lädt man von der eisfair-Homepage herunter. Das ISO-CDROM-Image brennt man anschließend mit einem herkömmlichen Brennprogramm auf eine CDROM.

Unter Linux sind Brennprogramme in jeder Distribution enthalten.

Unter Windows ist dafür das, für nicht kommerzielle Zwecke freie, Programm „Burn@Once“besonders geeignet.

Zum Start der eisfair-Installation ist zunächst das BIOS so einzustellen, dass das AusgewählteInstallationsmedium in der Boot-Reihenfolge vor der Festplatte steht. Das BIOS erreicht man

meistens indem man beim Start des Rechners die Tasten�� DEL /�� ENTF oder �� F2 drückt. In

der Regel weist das BIOS über eine entsprechende Anzeige auf die zu drückende Taste hin. ImBIOS selbst sucht man anschließend nach den entsprechenden Einträgen, wie zum Beispiel„BOOT ORDER“, und ändert die Startreihenfolge entsprechend ab. Zum Schluss speichertman die durchgeführten Änderungen und verlässt das BIOS.

2.2. Die Installation von CDROM

Die CDROM-Installation ist denkbar einfach. Den neuen eisfair-Server bootet man dann voneinem IDE/ATAPI/USB CDROM-Laufwerk (die entsprechenden Einstellungen im BIOS nichtvergessen!) und die Installation beginnt.

2.3. Die Installation mit einem USB-Stick

Die USB-Installation ist ebenfalls denkbar einfach. Es reicht nun dass ISO-Image „nur“ zumounten, da ja ein USB-Stick präpariert werden soll.

Die „USB-Stick Variante“ wird von einem ISO-CDROM-Image erstellt. Wer über ein Linuxmit grafischer Oberfläche oder Windows verfügt, kann ein Programm wie UNetbootin ver-wenden. Ansonsten ist es erforderlich, daß auf der CDROM befindliche mkusb-stick.sh Pro-gramm auszuführen, welches sich im Unterverzeichnis „unix“ befindet. Dies ist jedoch zurZeit nur unter Linux möglich.

Den neuen eisfair-Server bootet man dann von einem USB-HDD Laufwerk (die entsprechen-den Einstellungen im BIOS nicht vergessen!) und die Installation beginnt.

2.4. Installation vom Netzwerk (PXE-Boot)

Die Installation vom Netzwerk ist denkbar einfach.

2.4.1. Installation von einem eisfair Server oder Linux PC

Auf einem eisfair-Server werden dafür die Pakete ’dhcpd’ und ’tftpd’ benötigt.

In der ’tftpd’-Konfiguration ist folgendes zu setzten:

In der ’dhcpd’-Konfiguration ist folgendes zu setzen:

Es ist auch möglich einen alternativen Installationsordner anzugeben, dafür gibt es den Pa-rameter „InstFolder“. Als Standard gilt weiterhin der Name „eis“, der nicht angeben werdenmuss.

Nach dem Neustart des DHCPD findet man das Verzeichnis „/srv/tftpboot“ auf der Fest-platte, welches dann das Startverzeichnis für die Installationsdateien ist.

Am einfachsten ist es, dass ISO-Image „nur“ zu mounten, und dann die Installation direktauszuführen. Es können aber auch die Dateien kernel, initrd.gz, opt.tgz, rootfs.t?z und boot.t?zin das Unterverzeichnis /srv/tftpboot/eis oder in das „InstFolder“ Verzeichnis von der CDROMkopiert werden.

Dazu sind folgende Kommandos zeilenweise einzugeben und jeweils mit�� ENTER zu be-

2.4.2. Installation von einem Windows-PC

Für den PXE-Bootvorgang wird ein TFTP-Server für die benötigten Dateien und ein DHCP-Server für die Informationen des PXE-Systems benötigt. Beide sind in dem Freeware-Produkt„TFTPD32“ von Philippe Jounin enthalten. Dort findet man, Stand 2012-01-07, die Version4.00 den „tftpd32_standard_edition_(installer)“ welcher die Datei Tftpd32-4.00-setup.exe her-unterlädt. Dieser Installer erzeugt ein Verzeichnis in

C:\Programme\Tftp32

In diesem Verzeichnis sind die Verzeichnisse die unter „tftpboot“ auf der CDROM liegen, an-zulegen und die Dateien entsprechend zu kopieren. Auch hier ist der Parameter „InstFolder“möglich und das Verzeichnis entsprechend anzulegen.

Der Start des Programms gelingt nur als Administrator. Gute Erfahrungen liegen mit derFunktion „Ausführen als“ vor, sodass die anderen Arbeiten nicht unbedingt von einem Administrator-Konto aus erledigt werden müssen.
