L’EuroVélo 6 Atlantique - Mer Noire est l’un des 12 itinéraires du réseau EuroVélo né à l’initiative de la Fédération Européenne des Cyclistes (ECF) en 1994. Son objectif est de suivre trois des plus grands fleuves européens, creusets de la civilisation européenne : la Loire, le Rhin et le Danube.

De la Franche-Comté à la Suisse en passant par le Haut-Rhin, l’itinéraire de l’EuroVélo 6 s’enfonce dans une Alsace intemporelle, qui se dessine à pans de bois et aux nids de cigognes le long du canal.

Le chemin longe le canal du Rhône au Rhin, en passant par Montreux et Dannemarie. Un petit détour de cinq kilomètres peut vous faire grimper jusqu’à Altkirch, capitale du Sundgau, qui abrite le musée présentant la culture et les traditions de la région.

En arrivant à Mulhouse, on emprunte la passerelle pour arriver au parc de l’Ill, au sud de la ville. La piste emmène ensuite tout droit au centre-ville, puis vers le quai d’Alger. Attention, quelques passages ne sont pas encore aménagés à la sortie de la ville ! On suivra ensuite la piste cyclable qui suit le canal du Rhône au Rhin jusqu’à Kembs. A longer le canal d’Huningue, on finit par arriver à la passerelle des Trois pays qui mène directement à la frontière allemande. Le chemin suit les berges, puis traverse le Rhin pour arriver en Suisse, dans la ville de Bâle.

Der» EuroVélo 6» (europäischen Radweg 6) Atlantik - Schwarzes Meer ist einer der zwölf Wege des Netzes «EuroVélo», der 1994 auf Initiative der Europäischen Radfahrerförderation (ECF) ins Leben gerufen wurde. Ziel war es, den drei der größten europäischen Flüssen, Wiege der europäischen Zivilisation, zu folgen: Loire, Rhein und Donau.

Von der Franche-Comte bis in die Schweiz, durch den Oberrhein, führt die Strecke des «EuroVélo 6» durch ein zeitloses Elsass, mit seinen Fachwerkhäusern und Storchennestern, entlang des Kanals. Dabei radeln Sie am «Canal du Rhône au Rhin» (Rhein-Rhone-Kanal) an Montreux und Dannemarie vorbei. Ein kleiner Umweg von fünf Kilometern schlängelt sich bergauf nach Altkirch, der Haupstadt des Sundgau. Im örtlichen Museum werden Sie mit Kultur und Traditionen der Region vertraut gemacht.

In Mulhouse geht es weiter über die Brücke zum Park der Ill, im Süden der Stadt. Danach folgen Sie dem Weg bis zum Stadtzentrum und in Richtung des Kai der Alger. Achtung, ein paar Stellen sind am Stadtausgang noch nicht vollständig ausgebaut! Nehmen Sie danach den Radweg am «Canal du Rhône au Rhin» (Rhein-Rhone-Kanal) bis Kembs. Folgen Sie dem Kanal von Huningue und Sie gelangen zur Dreiländereck-Brücke, die direkt zur deutschen Grenze führt. Zunächts am Ufer entlang, geht es über den Rhein in die Schweiz; Endstation ist Basel.

The EuroVélo 6 Atlantique - Black Sea is one of the 12 itineraries of the EuroVélo network which started upon the initiative of the European Cyclist Federation (ECF) in 1994. Its objective is to follow along three of the largest European rivers, a melting pot of European civilisation: the Loire, the Rhine and the Danube. from the Franche-Comté to Switzerland, passing through the Haut-Rhin, the EuroVélo 6 itinerary gives way to a timeless Alsace boasting thatched houses and stork nest alongside the canal. The path goes along the Canal du Rhône au Rhin (Rhône Canal to the Rhine), passing through Montreux and Dannemarie. A short 5-kilometer detour allows you to climb up to Altkirch, the capital of Sundgau, where you’ll find a regional museum representing local culture and traditions. Upon arriving in Mulhouse, you’ll cross a walkway to arrive in the Parc d’Ill, in the southern part of the city. The path then goes straight into the city-centre, then towards the Quai d’Alger. Be careful as when leaving the city, there are some unfinished parts! Then follow along the bike path which follows along the Canal du Rhône au Rhin (Rhône Canal to the Rhine) up to Kembs. By riding along the Huningue Canal, you’ll end up arriving at the Trois Pays walkway which leads directly to the German border. The road follows along the banks, then crosses the Rhine to arrive in Switzerland, in the city of Basel.
