2009年ドイツ国際スーパーバイク選手権（IDM）最終戦は、ホッケンハイムで開催された。KTMは、シーズンフィナーレで、1190 RC8 Rアクラポヴィック・レースレプリカを公開した。アクラポヴィック・エグゾーストシステム、改良型シリンダーヘッドガスケット、ハイパワーマップのクラブレースキットを採用するこのマシンは、アイキャッチングな外観にふさわしい180psの最高出力を発生、世界最強のスーパースポーツの1台に数えられる。オリジナルのエグゾーストシステムを維持する、との条件により、公道仕様も可能。IDMシリーズでは、名手ジェレミー・マックウィリアムズのパートナーを務めたハイテクモーターサイクルは、KTMモデルラインナップの頂点として、すでにカタログモデルに加えられている。オリジナル“R”のディテールをさらにリファインし、レース仕様のWPサスペンションコンポーネントをフィーチャーするモデルが、このレースレプリカである。ハイエンド・エグゾーストシステムのスペシャリスト、アクラポヴィックとのコラボレーションが生み出したハイテクマシンは、100台の限定製作。その1台1台に専用のシリアルプレートが装着されている。マニア垂涎のコレクターズアイテムは、速いだけでなく、希少価値の点でも並ぶもののないスーパーレアモデルである。

IDMレースルックを纏うハイテクスーパーバイク

KTMは、2009年、長年のパートナーであるレッドブルとともにドイツ国際スーパーバイク選手権（IDM）に参戦。デビューイヤーから早くも存在感をアピールした。全8イベント、16戦からなるシリーズは、つねにテール-トゥ-ノーズのバトルが展開されることで知られている。KTMファクトリーライダーのステファン・ネーベルは、このうち15戦でポイントを獲得。4度表彰台に立ったステファン・ネーベルは、184ポイントを獲得して09年ランキング2位となった。デイディエ・ファン・ケイミューレン、カイ-ボーレ・アンダーソン、ジェレミー・マックウィリアムズらのRC8 Rライダーも、好成績で初シーズンを終えている。RC8 Rという絶好の素材にIDMのスパイスを加え、1190 RC8 Rレッドブル・レースレプリカを製作すること。それはKTMにとって、ごく自然な行為であった。公道仕様の最高出力は170ps。クラブレースキットを装着すると、さらに10psのパワーアップが実現され、180psに到達する。アジャスタブル・シャシー/シート・ジオメトリー、フルアジャスタブルWPサスペンションコンポーネント、マルケジーニ鍛造アロイホイール、ブレンボ・ハイパフォーマンスブレーキシステム、削り出しトリプルクランプ、カーボンファイバー・マッドガードなど、ディテールにも抜かりはない。1190 RC8 Rレッドブルは、全身に“Ready to Race”のオーラを纏っている。

KTM AS A COMPANY

It was 1934 when Hans Trunkenpolz founded a repair workshop in Mattighofen, Upper Austria. Three years later, he started selling DKW motorcycles and subsequently enlarged the workshop, which became one of the largest car and motorcycle repair workshops in Upper Austria.

In 1951, the company started developing a motorcycle of its own and two years later the KTM R 100 production series was launched. The company, which was now officially called 'Kronreif, Trunkenpolz, Mattighofen', immediately became involved with racing and the successful results piled up.

Erwin Lechner was among the riders who enjoyed one victory after another in 1960 on the KTM motorcycle designed by engineer Rudolf Apfelbeck. In 1968, KTM entered the US market with a 125 cc motocross motorcycle, and the sporting victories overseas were soon mirrored in Europe. Just some of the highlights of the 1970s included the powerful 50 cc models and the first motocross World champi-onship title – won for KTM in 1974 by Russian rider Gennadij Moiseev in the 250 cc class.

It was the riders Heinz Kinigadner and Trampas Parker who laid the foundations for the current KTM legend with three World championship titles in the subse-quent decade. In 1984, KTM started developing a liquid-cooled four-stroke motorcycle and in 1987 it began the series production of the first LC4 engine. The economy hit hard times at the end of the 1980s and in 1991, KTM Motorfahr-zeugbau AG filed for bankruptcy. One year later, the newly formed KTM motorcycle

division KTM Sportmotorcycle GmbH opened under new management with a new Hard Enduro concept and a new design. KTM stormed full speed ahead into the Rally sector, launched the first Duke in 1994 and just one year later acquired the company WP Suspension, which now no longer forms part of KTM but is still closely linked to the brand, and the sports motorcycle manufacturer Husaberg. Shane King's Motocross World championship title in the 500 cc class plus numerous other victories revived the sporty image of the tradition-filled KTM brand. In 1999, the company moved to its newly constructed factory in Mattighofen.

RACE ORANGE: THE KTM EXPERIENCE ON THE RACE TRACK

Shooting full speed down the straight, then slamming on the brakes, leaning in, flying round the corner and hitting the accelerator again – race track riding is great fun. Even more so on a KTM Race Orange TnT Track Day. Whether your first ever track experience or a quest to shave off that last tenth of a second, KTM Race Orange is the perfect choice. The programme unfolds on Europe's most popular racing tracks and all participants get up-close experiences of the 'Ready to Race' philosophy.

Groups are organised by ability. Professi-onal instructors look after both the rookies and the race cracks. TNT stands for Track 'n Test and all participants get the chance to thoroughly test out exactly what their KTM street models can do on the race track. Those who want to can also take part in a sprint race as part of the KTM Race Orange Track Day. Of course, we will also give you technical advice and even provide you with a KTM lease motorcycle at your request. Riders of non-KTM motor-cycles are extremely welcome.
