IN LOVE WITH LIGHT

It is not unreasonably if an Austrian family enterprise succeeds in reaching international repu-tation in its field. At Dotzauer we are conscious of our abilities: Manual proficiency, which offersa solid basis to realise even the most imaginative ideas of design, as well as decades of expe-rience, which keep arousing our curiosity of brand-new and unusual things. Not to forget thetechnical and creative knowledge giving rise to products of prime quality.

Above all there is one important point however. That is our affection for light and the desire tocatch this original force, this fountain of life and to convert it into the most beautiful shapes.

Light determines our seeing, our feeling and the atmosphere of a room. That is the motive powerof the Dotzauer Manufactory and therefore the life-task of those who stand for that company.A small wall light, a chandelier or even a light sculpture covering a whole ball-room – we arealways interested in finding the right lighting solution for every concrete task.

For that reason our demand is easy to explain: Each product leaving our manufactory has tobe a master-piece in its particular way

Wenn ein Familienbetrieb aus Österreich in seinem Metier Weltgeltung erlangen kann, dannmuss das schon einen guten Grund haben. Wir bei Dotzauer kennen unsere Stärken: hand-werkliches Können, das die solide Basis für die Umsetzung auch der fantasievollsten Design-Ideen bietet. Jahrzehnte lange Erfahrung, die uns immer wieder neugierig auf Neues,Ungewohntes macht. Das technische und gestalterische Wissen, welches Produkte höchsterQualität hervorbringt.

Vor allem aber ist es eines: Die Liebe zum Licht. Der Wunsch, diese Urkraft und Quelle desLebens einzufangen, in seine schönsten Formen zu bringen.

Die Bedeutung des Lichtes für unser Leben entsprichtseit jeher der besonderen Aufmerksamkeit derMenschen für die Gestaltung ihrer Lichtquellen – derBeleuchtungskörper als „Träger des Lichts“ wird zumeigenständigen Kunstwerk.

Ob liebevoll gestalteter Lichtschirm des Biedermeier,prunkvoller Kristalluster des Barock, die perfekten Liniendes Empire oder die blumigen Entwürfe des Jugendstils– sie alle feiern die Kraft des Lichts, die Freude, diees bringt. Und in der modernen Architektur ist Licht zueinem der zentralen Themen der Gestaltung gewor-den.

The meaning of light for our life always correspondsto the attention of people especially for the design oftheir light sources – the lamp as a "bearer of light" beco-mes an independent work of art.

A lovingly designed shade of the Biedermeier, a splen-did crystal chandelier of the Baroque, the perfect linesof the Empire or the flowery designs of the ArtNouveau – they all celebrate the power of light thatinvolves the joy. In architecture the light became a cen-tral theme of design.

We cultivate the understanding for the aesthetics andthe technique of former eras and we convert the ideasof architects and designers into modern, innovativesolutions as well. Thus light sculptures and entirelighting sceneries develop and of course new formsof crystal chandeliers too.

Whether it is about a luxury hotel or a sacral building,a centre of congress or a private home, a historicbuilding or contemporary architecture – the light ofDotzauer makes everything beam.

Nowadays our delivery program includesmore than 1000 models. That is no accidentbecause our customers know how to benefitfrom a manufactory. Whether they want par-ticular material, ornaments or sizes or it is amatter of a totally new design – everything ispossible, often by using new technologies,new material and a new design of the surface.

We have a special affection for the fine cutcrystal as the material which accentuates thespectrum of light in the best way. In additionwe keep on developing the crystal chandelier,frequently in collaboration with our clients oron behalf of designers and architects. In thisconnexion the crystal and its manifold formsplay a main role.

One of the secrets concerning the production of high-qualitycrystal lights is the variety of manual proficiency, the feeling

for material and forms and the passion for thehandicraft itself. That is the basis which makeslittle and great works of art glitter.

Classical crystal lights are produced with hig-hest accuracy according to the models ofthe Baroque, the Empire, the Period ofPromoterism or the Art Nouveau adaptedto modern requirements concerning theextent and the technique. The cultivationof handicraft and the com-
