1. Einleitung. Von Weinberger [ I 6 1 und von Bebernes
und Schmitt [ 2 1 wurden Invarianzsatze, wie sie seit
langerer Zeit fur Anfangs- und.Randwertprobleme bei ge-
gewbhnlichen Differentialgleichungen bekannt sind, auf
(endliche) Systeme parabolischer Differentialgleichun-
gen iibertragen.
Weinberger C161 weist darauf
hin, daA solche Invarianzsatze verschiedene Maximum-
prinzipien, Monotoniesatze und Satze iiber Schranken von
Lasungen zusammenfassen.
Redheffer und Walter C 9 1 trennen das Invarianz-
vom Existenzproblem und beweisen reine Invarianzsatze
fiir Systeme ~arabolischer Gleichungen mit Hilfe von

Differentialungleichungsmethoden.
Da
kein Gebrauch von Existenzsatzen fiir die behandelten
Gleichungen gemacht wird, erhalt man a-priori-Aussagen
iiber Lasungen ohne weitere explizite Einschrankungen
etwa der Regularitat des Grundgebietes, des ellipti-
schen Operators, der zugelassenen Gleichungen oder des
Raumes E. Durch Verwendung eines sehr allgemeinen LB-
sungsbegriffes kBnnen gleichzeitig die Differenzierbar-
keitsvoraussetzungen vermindert und die Beweise verein-
facht werden. Dabei ergeben sich natiirliche Verallge-
meinerungen bekannter Ergebnisse.
So verwendet etwa Thompson [Ill, C121
die sogenannte Rothe-Methode, um fiir elliptische und
elliptisch-parabolische Gleichungen auf unendlichen

rungslijsungen und explizite Fehlerabschatzungen nachzu-
weisen. Dabei spielen insbesondere Monotonie- und Ver-
gleichssatze fiir abzahlbare Systeme von Randwertproble-
men zweiter Ordnung eine zentrale Rolle. Entsprechende

Invarianzsatz in 3. verwendete Funktion ,-, in allen
In
diesem Fall muA iiber T(x) keine Einschrankung gemacht
werden, d.h. insbesondere diirfen in f alle ersten Ab-
leitungen vorkommen.
setzt, so mulj (vgl. Hilfssatz 1) T(x) fR(A(x)) verlangt
werden, d.h. in f darf hbchstens nach R(A(x)) differen-
ziert werden. Fiir R(A(x) ) = lRn, beziehungsweise fiir den
Fall expliziter gewdhnlicher Differentialgleichungen
2. Ordnung ist dies kein Verlust an Allgemeinheit.
3) Fiir n = 1, A(x) - 0 , b(x) El, T(x) = O erhalt man

bleme ohne Anfangswerte (t E IR) gewinnen. AuAerdem kbn-
nen wie in C41 auch nichtlineare Randbedingungen zuge-
lassen werden.
5 ) Der Fall C = {O} liefert etwa fiir lineare Pro-
bleme bestmbgliche Eindeutigkeitssatze, indem man den
Invarianzsatz auf die Differenz zweier Lbsungen anwen-
det; dies stellt man ohne Miihe bereits am Fall n = 1,
E = IR, T(x) = 0 bei der Gleichung u" + L*u = 0 fest.
6 ) 1st E=IRm und C = K = { x = (x ,,..., x,): xi>O}
der natiirliche Ordnungskegel, so liefert der Invarianz-
satz die bekannten Monotoniesiitze fiir Systeme gewbhnli-
cher und parabolischer Differentialgleichungen. 1st da-
verwendeten L8sungsbegriff.
