„...ich erinnere mich noch gut, wie im Jahr 1990 die ersten „corratec“-Fahrräder auf den Markt kamen. Das hat ja eine Vor-geschichte, die mir als „altem“ Insider noch sehr gut bekannt ist. Konrad Irlbacher hatte als junger Groß- und Einzelhändler in der Fahrradbranche eigene Vorstellungen von dem System Fahrrad. Es genügte ihm nicht, handelsübliche Rahmen, Teile und Laufräder einzukaufen und zu kombinieren. Er wollte seine eigenen Vorstel-lungen vom besseren Fahrrad realisieren! Also entstand mit einer gehörigen Portion PIONIERGEIST „corratec“ – eine der ganz innovativen und eigenständigen Fahrradmarken.

Sportlich sind sie, die „corratec“-Räder! Welcher Beobachter der Radsportszene erinnert sich nicht an die großartigen Erfolge des Duos Bruno Risi und Kurt Betschart bei Rennen auf Bahn und Stra-ße. Weltmeister, Sechstagesieger waren sie. Ihre Entsprechung im Gelände hatten sie mit Jan-Erik Ostergard. Dieser gewann auf sei-nem „corratec“-Super-Bow so ziemlich alles, was er unter seine Rei-fen nahm. Ähnlich ging es einem weiteren Mountain-Bike-Helden im „corratec“-Shirt. Auch Roland Stauder gewann etliches und wurde zu einer Kultfi gur im MTB-Sport. Nach 10 Jahren aktivem Rennge-schehen ist er nun der sportliche Leiter des „corratec“-World-Team! Unvergessen bleibt auch die Leistung von José Rujano, der beim Giro d`Italia 2005 das grüne Trikot des besten Bergfahrers ins Ziel der Rundfahrt brachte und Gesamtdritter wurde.

Aber eine sportliche Seite alleine reicht nicht aus, um als Fahr-radmarke erfolgreich zu sein. Das Durchdenken und Verbessern von Fahrrädern und deren Zubehör gehört bei „corratec“ zum Ta-gesgeschäft. Sie kennen den Super-Bow-Rahmen. „Keiner macht den Bogen“ hieß es in den neunziger Jahren als Slogan. Und so ist es bis heute. Das Super-Bow-Design machte „corratec“ auf der ganzen Welt bekannt. Heute ist „corratec“ in 50 Ländern vertre-ten und damit die erfolgreichste deutsche Exportmarke. Sicher ist das ein toller Erfolg aber kein Grund, sich auszuruhen. Die zwei Begriffe Innovation und Individualität sind in 20 Jahren mit viel ERFAHRUNG angereichert worden. Das Wissen um die ge-wachsenen Stärken und die Herausforderungen der Zukunft, ver-leiht „corratec“ die allerbesten Perspektiven.

So ist es nicht verwunderlich, dass die LEIDENSCHAFT für das Fahrrad die wesentliche Triebfeder in die Zukunft von „corratec“ darstellt. Weltweit alle „corratec-people“ zu einer Familie, der „corratec-family“ zu vereinen, ist dabei ein mehr als positiver Ne-beneffekt. Dieser Geist ist spürbar, wenn man mit „corratec“ zu tun hat oder wenn man auf einem „corratec“ unterwegs ist und seines-gleichen trifft. Und zum Glück gibt es „corratec“ erst seit zwanzig Jahren. Denn so bleibt für diese junge Marke noch sehr viel Zu-kunft. Eine Zukunft mit Menschen für Menschen – „corratec“ hat als inhabergeführte Marke nicht nur in Form von Konrad Irlbacher ein Gesicht. Die „corratec-family“ wächst immer weiter.“

„...I still remember well when the fi rst „corratec“ bikes came on the market in 1990. That

wasn‘t where the story started though as I, as an „old“ insider, know very well. Konrad

Irlbacher, as a young wholesaler and retailer, had his own ideas about how a bicycle should

be confi gured. He was not satisfi ed with buying standard commercial frames, parts and

wheels and putting them together. He wanted to realize his own ideas of a better bicycle!

So with a large portion of pioneering spirit „corratec“ was founded – one of the most

innovative and individual bike brands.

Dynamic they are for sure, the „corratec“ bikes! Which fan of the cycling scene doesn‘t

remember the great victories of Bruno Risi and Kurt Betschart in road races and on ve-

lodrome tracks? They were world champions and also six-day champions. Their equiva-

lent in cross and mountain bike was Jan-Erik Ostergaard. He won almost everything he

tried his tires out on, on his „corratec“ Super-Bow. By the way these tires became one of

the most successful in MTB sport: The „corratec“ Diamant-Slicks! Jan not only delivered

perfect results for himself and „corratec“ as World Cup champion. Even today he is still

closely affi liated with the brand as general importer for Luxemburg. The story is

similar for another mountain bike hero in the „corratec“ jersey. Roland Stauder also

had a lot of wins and became a cult fi gure in MTB sport. After 10 years of active

racing he has now become the sports director of the „corratec“ World Team! José

Rujano‘s performance at the Giro d‘Italia in 2005 as he won the green „King of the

Mountains“ jersey and came third overall also remains unforgettable. These are only

some examples of professional „corratec“ athletes. On the walls of the stairway at

company headquarters photos of further sports greats such as the skier Hermann

Maier and the biathlete Uschi Disl, emphasize the sportive image of the brand. All

of them ride „corratec“!

But the sports aspect alone is not suffi cient to be a successful bicycle brand. Thin-

king ahead, designing improvements to the bikes and their accessories is part of the

daily work at „corratec“. You know the Superbow frame. „Keiner macht den Bogen“

was its slogan in the nineties. That‘s how it has remained to this day. The Superbow

design made „corratec“ famous throughout the world. Nowadays „corratec“ is re-

presented in 50 countries and has become Germany‘s most successful export brand. That

is a great success to be sure but no reason to rest on one‘s laurels. The two terms inno-

vation and individuality have been expanded over 20 years of experience. The know-how

involved in the strengths developed and the challenges of the future endow „corratec“

with all the best prospects. I personally believe that it is not too far-fetched to say that the

future market lies in the meeting of good ideas, technical skill and quality assurance. If the

individual requirements of the rider are also met, then all will be well.

So it‘s not surprising that the passion for bikes represents the main drive for the future

of „corratec“. Bringing all „corratec people“ together in one global family, the „corratec

family“ is more than a positive side effect. This spirit is tangible when you have anything

to do with „corratec“ or when you are riding a „corratec“ and you meet someone also on

one. The lucky thing about it is that „corratec“ is only 20 years old. Because of that this

brand has plenty of years ahead of it. This is a future made by people for people – „corra-

tec“ as a brand managed by the owner has a face not only in the form of Konrad Irlbacher.
