Here are some more of my scattered thoughts…..

My dear Parishioners,

1. Today we celebrate the Epiphany of our Lord Jesus Christ. Epiphany means—the church celebrates the manifestation of the Lord to the whole world, after being made known to the shepherds of Bethlehem. He is revealed to the Magi who had come from the East to adore Him. The Epiphany is also understood as an affirmation of Salvation.

2. Isn’t it amazing in this sophisticated and scientific age that we are also interested in stars, horoscopes and astrological signs? There is something beautiful about the story of the Magi… the wise men from the East. Their journey across the mountains, deserts, following the star, echoes in our hearts. We are yearning deep down within our being for meaning, truth and happiness.

3. After encountering Baby Jesus, their lives changed forever - no longer following the star, they were guided by the light of this Child. The Magis represent all of us….. we are to be Magis of our days, making Jesus visible to the world as Savior and Redeemer. We need to make Jesus known along the pathways of life by being open and receptive to His Word. God needs our commitment in furthering Christs’ Saving Mission here on earth. The Magi did not come to Jesus empty handed, but with special gifts….we don’t have special gifts like theirs but we have the gift of ourselves. The gift of self is more precious and never gets old.

4. Just imagine yourself in the presence of Baby Jesus, and Mary, and Joseph. You are surprised to see the Magis….. men from the East have come to see Baby Jesus. As soon as they arrive they fall on their knees to adore Baby Jesus and present him with their gifts… The Church wants us to rejoice and to help proclaim to all the world that Jesus Christ came as The Light for all peoples, he came to save us all….

All of us need to be Epiphany (revelation and manifestation) to all people. Pray for one another.

GLORY TO GOD/ GLORIA

The Glory to God is a hymn of praise and petition to God; it is sung or recited on distinctive days of the calendar of the church. It praises God and signals the festivity and solemnity of the day. The texts of the Gloria will not be replaced with a different hymn of praise. This hymn is used on Sundays outside the Seasons of Advent and Lent, on solemnities and feasts, and at special celebrations of a more solemn character. The Gloria should be sung or said at all Masses on the days prescribed and never omitted. During the singing or reciting of the Glory to God, all heads should bow at the name of Jesus in the middle of the hymn and also at the mention of the Holy Trinity at the end. However , few people observe this and there is a need to reassert this to the assembly. Everyone is called to participate in singing or reciting the Glory to God for it allows us to acknowledge that we are gathered to praise, worship and adore the Holy Trinity in the highest and ultimate form of prayer, that is the Holy Mass. …..To be continued

GLORY TO GOD/GLORIA El glories es un himno de alabanza y petición a Dios: Es cantado o recitado en días distintos del calendario de la Iglesia. Alaba a Dios y señala la festividad y solemnidad del da. Los textos del Gloria no serán substituidos por un himno de alabanza diferente. Este himno se utiliza los domingos fuera de las esaciones de Adviento y Cuaresma, en solemnidades y fiestas, y en celebraciones especiales de carácter más solemne. El Gloria debe ser cantado o recitado pero nunca omitido en las misas de los días prescritos.

Durante el canto o recitación del Gloria a Dios, todas las cabezas deben inclinarse en la mitad del himno, al mencionar el nombre de Jesús y también al final, al men-cionar a la Santísima Trinidad. Sin embargo, pocas per-sonas lo han observado y se hace necesario reafirmárselo a la Asamblea.

Toda la comunidad debe participar en este canto del Gloria a Dios, porque nos permite reconocer que estamos reunidos para alabar y adorar a la Santísima Trinidad en la suprema y mínima forma de oración que es la Santa Misa. …...Continuará

LAS NACIONES CAMINARÁN CON TU LUZ "Unos magos de Oriente llegaron entonces a Jerusalén y preguntaron: '¿Dónde está el rey de los judíos que acaba de nacer? Porque vimos surgir su estrella y hemos venido a ador-arlo' ". Estas palabras son alegres noticias para quienes a través de los siglos alaban a Cristo; pero, son malas noticias para quienes, como Herodes, egoístamente mantienen su propia prominencia y realeza. "Herodes llamó en secreto a los magos . . ." Aquellas personas que se comportan con secretos a menudo tienen motivos malos, y como Herodes, están llenos de mentiras; "para que yo también vaya a adorarlo". Herodes no tiene esa intensión, sino que su plan es asesinar al Cristo niño y, él piensa, proteger su propia autoridad. El mal siempre está listo para actuar en el mundo, pero Dios protege a los inocentes, en este caso enviando a los magos de regreso a sus casas por una ruta diferente en lugar de regresar con Herodes.

TU CORAZÓN SE ALEGRARÁ, Y SE ENSANCHARÁ Los magos "al ver de nuevo la estrella, se llenaron de inmensa alegría". Así que muchas de las palabras de Isaías positivamente brillaron en la profecía de la luz brillante de Israel, Jesús. "Caminarán los pueblos a tu luz y los reyes, al resplandor de tu aurora. . . Entonces verás esto radiante de alegría; tu corazón se alegrará, y se ensanchará ". El día de Navidad, con todas sus luces y gloria, ya pasaron, pero aun así se nos olvida que el Tiempo de Navidad continua hasta mañana. La gloria del Señor continúa brillando y manifiesta la gloria a todas las naciones. Nosotros que somos miembros de esas naciones del mundo deben continuar celebrando y alegrándonos en la venida del Señor a nuestras vidas. En efecto, somos los gentiles que han venido a adorar a Cristo, y a ser salvados por su gloriosa apariencia. Nguyên ngữ Hy Lạp là epiphaneia, có nghĩa là tỏ mình hay xuất hiện ra bên ngoài. Trong tiếng Hy Lạp cỗ cũng gọi là Τheophaneia, có nghĩa là thị kiến Thiên chúa, tức thấy Chúa. Lễ Hiển Linh mang một ý nghĩa quan trọng trong mùa Giáng Sinh.

Ðức Giêsu Kitô, Ngôi Lời nhập thể mặc lấy thân xác yếu hèn của con người để thực hiện chương trình cứu rỗi nhân loại. Các nhà đạo sĩ là những người đầu tiên đã nhận ra Chúa khi Ngài tỏ mình cho loài người. Giáo Hội cử hành Lễ Hiển Linh trong ý nghĩa chính yếu là việc Chúa tỏ mình ra cho Ba Đạo Sĩ từ Phương Đông đến thờ lạy Chúa.

Cùng với các nhà đạo sĩ, chúng ta hãy dâng lên Chúa Hài Nhi Giêsu ba lễ vật: Vàng là lòng mến, đức ái; nhũ hương là lời kinh, cầu nguyện; và mộc dược là hy sinh, hãm mình.

Hôm nay con chẳng có gì, lễ Chúa Hài Nhi. Hôm nay con chẳng có gì tiến dâng Chúa Hài Nhi.

Vàng con không có, nhũ hương cũng không, mộc dược cũng không, Chúa Hài Nhi ơi.

Rượu chiên bánh miến cũng không là bao bù vào tình lớn lao Chúa từ trên cao.

Nhưng con chỉ có tấm thân hòa bình từ đêm Ngài đến khi con nhìn ngắm

tấm thân hòa bình giữa đồng Belem.

Con xin tận hiến tấm thân hòa bình từ đêm Ngài đến, cho con thành tín,

sống luôn hòa bình giữa người anh em. Chúa Hài Nhi ơi.

KINH VINH DANH

Kinh Vinh danh Thiên Chúa là một bài ca ngợi và cầu xin Thiên Chúa; nó được hát hay đọc vào những ngày đặc biệt trong lịch của Giáo hội. Nó ca ngợi Thiên Chúa và dấu hiệu của lễ nghi trong ngày. Các văn bản của Kinh Vinh Danh sẽ không được thay thế bằng một bài thánh ca khen ngợi khác. Kinh Vinh Danh được hát vào các ngày Chúa Nhật (ngoài trừ các Chúa Nhật trong Mùa Vọng và Mùa Chay), trong các Thánh lễ trọng thể và các Lễ Kính, và các buổi lễ đặc biệt của một nhân vật trang trọng hơn. Kinh Vinh Danh nên được hát hoặc đọc trong tất cả các Thánh Lễ vào những ngày được quy định và không bao giờ được bỏ qua.

Trong khi ca hát hoặc tụng Vinh danh Thiên Chúa, tất cả mọi người nên cúi đầu khi nghe tên Chúa Giêsu trong giữa bài hát và khi nhắc tới Ba Ngôi Thiên Chúa ở cuối bài. Tuy nhiên, rất ít người để ý đến điều này và cần phải nhắc nhở điều này với cộng đồng dân Chúa.
