Dear Members and Friends!

This year Waldorf Education and the Threefold Social Structure celebrate their centenaries. These occasions are opportunities to focus once again on the inner essence of Anthro-posophy and its contribution to civilization

– in the heartbeat of time. This gives us the opportunity to anticipate the impact and ef-fects it may have in the next hundred years of developments and challenges. The future can often already be perceived in the present and needs our support, care and participation.

At this year‘s Annual General Meeting, we therefore intend to look at seeds for the future, hear about exemplary initiatives from Argen-tina to China, in which new developments are emerging, and discuss the significance of the Anthroposophical Society in its relationship to the fields of life and the individual human being. These are questions about the life processes of our society, their development and effectiveness in social life. How can we support and strengthen them and thus, partic-ipate as the Anthroposophical Society, in the challenges of the present day? This conference therefore follows on from last year when we addressed the question „What are we building on?“ This year we will focus on the life pro-cesses in which social life unfolds. It marks the beginning of successive themes in the coming years, in preparation and anticipation of the

significant celebration of the centenary of the Christmas Conference in 2023/24. With this we intend to develop new perspectives and ener-gy for the development of the Anthroposophi-cal Society and its School of Spiritual Science.

Once again, the conference will begin early each day with the work on the „soul“ of our society, the Michael School, through the Class Lessons of the First Class. Parallel to this we will offer artistic contemplations on the archi-tectural structures of the building, the glass windows and the ceiling in the great hall, in which the journey of individual and human development is made visible.

On Thursday afternoon before the opening, there will be an opportunity to get to know the sections and departments of the Goethe-anum in form of an “Open Day” including tours. (This will also include the Clinic Arlesheim and Ita-Wegman-Institute.) During the conference we would like to create sufficient space for encounters and discussions so that impulses can emerge and develop. We are delighted to show you the premier programme of the new Eurythmy Ensemble at the Goetheanum in a festive evening performance.

With warm greetings and in anticipation of our collaborative work!

Justus Wittich, Joan Sleigh, Constanza Kaliks and Matthias Girke
