Das Internationale Zentrum Clausthal (IZC) bietet im Wintersemester 2015/16 wieder ein umfangreiches Veranstaltungsprogramm an. Dazu möchten wir Sie ganz herzlich einladen. Wir hoffen, dass Sie während Ihrer Zeit in Clausthal-Zellerfeld die Chance nutzen, mit den Exkursionen und Veranstaltungen das Land und die Menschen hier besser kennen zu lernen. Wir wünschen Ihnen einen guten Start ins Semester und einen ereignisreichen Aufenthalt bei uns. Bitte beachten Sie, dass Sie sich für die einzelnen Veranstaltungen anmelden müssen und in den meisten Fällen auch eine geringe Teilnahmegebühr bezahlt werden muss. Wir freuen uns auf Sie! The International Center (IZC) has once again prepared an extensive events program for the Winter Semester 2015/16 to which we cordially invite you. During your time in Clausthal-Zellerfeld, we hope you will partake in the events and excursions, in order to learn more about Germany and the people here. 12.10.2015 Welcome BBQ am Internationalen Zentrum Ab 17.00 Uhr fi ndet das traditionelle Welcome-BBQ statt,

zu dem deutsche und internationale Studierende auf dem Hof des IZC herzlich willkommen sind. Es gibt Bratwurst und Getränke.

Welcome BBQ at the International Center Our traditional BBQ will take place beginning at 17:00. Ger-

man and international students alike are invited to join us at the IZC. German sausage and drinks will be on offer.

17.10.2015 Exkursion: Meyer Werft in Papenburg Erleben Sie den modernen Schiffsbau auf der Meyer Werft

in Papenburg in Norddeutschland!

Achtung: Diese Veranstaltung wird im Rahmen des Pro-gramms „Entdecke Niedersachsen“ von der Hochschu-le Emden-Leer organisiert. Die Hin- und Rückfahrt muss selbst organisiert und fi nanziert werden. Nähere Infos und Anmeldung im IZC bei Silke Banse.

Excursion: Meyer Werft Shipyard in Papenburg Experience modern shipbuilding at the Meyer Werft shipyard

in Papenburg in Northern Germany!

Please note: This event is organized as part of the "Discover Lower Saxony" program by the University of Emden-Leer. Travel to and from the shipyard must be organized and fi -nanced by the participants themselves. For more informati-on and registration, please contact Silke Banse at the IZC.

18.11.2015 Basteln und Laternenumzug im IZC Das IZC lädt Studierende/Mitarbeiter und ihre Familien

ein, bei Kaffee und Tee gemeinsam mit den Kindern ihre ganz persönlichen Laternen zu basteln. Anschließend lau-fen wir einen Laternenumzug durch die Stadt, bei dem bekannte Laternenlieder wie „Ich geh mit meiner Laterne“ und „Laterne, Laterne“ gesungen werden.

Make your own lantern and lantern walk with the IZC The IZC invites students / employees and their families

to make their own lanterns while enjoying some coffee or tea together. Afterwards there will be a lantern walk through Clausthal and we will sing some traditional Ger-man lantern songs.

25.11.2015 Die Lange Nacht des Lernens Gemeinsame Veranstaltung der Psychosozialen Bera-

tungsstelle des Studentenwerks OstNiedersachsen, des IZC und der Studienberatung der TU Clausthal. Eine gan-ze lange Nacht zum Thema Lernen mit Expertengesprä-chen, Lerngruppen und spannenden ReferentInnen. Für Snacks, Entspannung und Überraschungen ist gesorgt!

The Long Night of Learning This joint event is hosted by the counseling center of the

student union (Studentenwerk OstNiedersachsen), the IZC and the TU Clausthal’s student council. The long night fo-cusses on the topic of learning with expert discussions, study groups and interesting speakers. Snacks, relaxation and sur-prises are guaranteed.

dierender in die deutsche Hauptstadt inklusive Veran-staltungsprogramm (u.a. Technikmuseum, Weihnachts-markt, Stadtführung).

Excursion: Trip to Berlin This joint excursion is organized for both German and inter-

national students to travel to the German capital, and inclu-des an extensive program of events (among other activities, a visit to the Museum of Technology, one of the many Christ-mas markets, and a guided tour of the city).

04.12.2015 Party: International X-Mas Get Together Die multikulturellste Party des Jahres! Zum Jahresende

lädt das IZC traditionell alle Studierenden in die Mensa zur weihnachtlichen Party ein. Mit internationalem Buf-fet, Musik, Tanz & Show. Essen inklusive! Karten nur im Vorverkauf im IZC.

Party: International X-Mas Get-Together This is the biggest multicultural party of the year! The IZC

invites all the TU students to a Christmas party in the cafe-teria (Mensa). This party includes an international buffet, music, dancing and a show. Food is included in the price. Tickets may only be purchased in advanced at the IZC.

n.n. Applying for a Job in Germany Applying for a job in a country that is not your “home

turf” is very challenging: What does the market look like and where do I fi nd a comprehensive overview? What does the application process in Germany look like? What content does the application need to have to be successful? These and further questions will be answered during this work-shop. This workshop is held in English.

Excursion: Kohlfahrt in Oldenburg A “kale trip” is a fun northwestern German tradition. Guests

can try the Oldenburg national dish "kale with smoked sausage" and crown the Queen and the King of Kale.

17.03.2016 Exkursion: CeBIT Hannover Die CeBIT (Centrum für Büroautomation, Informations-

technologie und Telekommunikation, ursprünglich Cen-trum der Büro- und Informationstechnik) ist die weltweit größte Messe für Informationstechnik und fi ndet seit 1986 statt. Machen Sie sich selbst ein Bild von den neusten technischen Entwicklungen.

Excursion: CeBIT Hannover The CeBIT (Center for Offi ce Automation, Information Tech-

nology and Telecommunication, formerly known as the World Center for Offi ce, Information and Communications Technology) has been the largest information technology expo worldwide since 1986. Come along and take a look for yourself at the newest developments in technology.

• 14-tägig jeden zweiten Mittwoch: Internationaler Stammtisch im Anno Tobak. Beginn: 11. November 2015

• Jeden ersten Donnerstag im Monat: International Coffee Hour der Uni-Lotsen in der Unibibliothek. Bei kostenlosem Kaffee und Tee trifft

man sich, tauscht sich aus und knüpft neue Kontakte zu anderen Stu-dierenden.

• Jeden zweiten Freitag im Monat: Internationaler Kochclub in der AWO am Zellbach. Unter Anleitung kann man Gerichte aus aller Welt kochen. Unkostenbeitrag 2 EUR und nur mit Voranmeldung. Weitere Infos und Anmeldung unter organisation-kochclub@tu-clausthal.de

Ongoing Events

• Every other Wednesday (meets every two weeks): International Stamm-tisch (International Roundtable) at Anno Tobak. Begin: 11 November 2015

• On the fi rst Thursday of the month: International Coffee Hour with the Uni-Lotsen in the University Library (Leibnizstr. 2). Over coffee and tea – free of charge – students will be able to make new friends and discuss various topics together.

• Every second Friday of the month: International Cooking Club in the Arbei-terwohlfahrt (AWO) on Zellbach 52. With a little guidance you can cook dishes from all over the world. There is a fee of 2 EUR and you must sign up beforehand. For more information and to sign up, please send an email to organisation-kochclub@tu-clausthal.de.
