Schalten Sie die Tage Ihr Radio ein oder holen sich die Zeitung vom Kiosk, so sind die Meldungen über eine Rekordhitze nach der anderen auf Mallorca fast täglich

zu hören und zu lesen. Ob das mit der Klimaerwärmung zusammenhängt oder einfach einem globalen Zyklus ent-spricht, sei dahingestellt. Aber bei diesen Temperaturen be-lastet einen die Hitze schon gewaltig und das, obwohl wir das schöne Wetter nahezu gepachtet haben und eigentlich daran gewöhnt sein sollten.Und was machen die Yachtbesitzer bei diesen Temperaturen und dem reichlichen Sonnenschein? Zuerst einmal hoffen, dass die Klimaanlage an Bord funktioniert und dankbar sein, dass es sie gibt. Solche Temperaturen verwandeln eine Yacht sonst in einen Brutkasten mit um die 50°C und mehr im In-neren. So laufen derzeit die Generatoren der Yachten in den Häfen auf Hochtouren, um den Energiebedarf zu decken, der manchmal nicht mehr über den Landstrom abgedeckt werden kann. Aber es gibt natürlich auch die Option, mit seiner Yacht herauszufahren, sich in einer Bucht dem Wasserspaß und manchmal auch einer frischen Brise hinzugeben und sich durch einen Sprung ins 26°C ‚kühle‘ Nass etwas abzukühlen. Und so sieht man die Tage in den Häfen überall leere Lie-geplätze, da die Yachten der Hitze versuchen zu entfliehen. Und was steht bei uns in naher Zukunft an? Natürlich die Herbstmessen in Cannes, Monaco und Genua, sowie später (im November) in Barcelona. Auf Seite 69 finden Sie die Ter-mine dieser Messen und die Möglichkeit, sich Ihre persönli-chen Eintrittskarten zu reservieren.

If you turn on the radio or buy the newspaper at the ki-osk, you hear and read about reports on Majorca‘s heat record. If this is due to global warming or simply to the

global cycle remains an open question. These temperatures really overstrain us, even though we have beautiful weather almost all the time and should actually be used to it.But what do yacht owners do when it is so hot and when the-re is that much sunshine? Well first of all they hope that the air condition on board is working and second they are happy to have one! These temperatures can easily turn a yacht into an incubator with approximately 50°C or even more in the interior. This is why the generators of the yachts in the har-bours are working at full speed these days in order to make up for the high energy demand which sometimes cannot be covered by the shore power.Of course there is always the possibility to go on a little cruise and to enjoy the fresh breeze in one of the bays and to cool off in the 26°C ‚cold‘ water. So this is why you see a lot of free moorings in the marinas these days, because the yacht owners try to escape the heat.So what do we plan in the near future? Of course the autumn boat shows, such as Cannes, Monaco and Genoa as well as later on (in November) the Barcelona boat show. On page 69 you will find the dates of these boat shows and the possibility to reserve your personal entrance tickets.

Man nehme unser Erfolgsmo-dell, die Elegance 64, mache sie 4 Fuß länger und 20cm

breiter und schon haben wir die neue Elegance 68. Leichte visuelle Anpas-sungen am Rumpf sowie an den Sei-ten- und Frontfenstern und ein ordent-

liches Hardtop machen dann aus der vergrößerten Elegance 64 ein richtiges Prachtstück, welches sich in den kom-menden Monaten auf dem Markt posi-tionieren wird.Manchmal ist es einfach von Vorteil, das Rad nicht zweimal zu erfinden und

ein bestehendes erfolgreiches Produkt lediglich für eine weitere Käuferschicht zu modifizieren und die bestehenden erfolgreichen Konzepte des Produktes zu übernehmen. So hat die Elegance 68, wie schon die Elegance 64, eine hydraulische Tendergarage, eine hy-draulische Badeplattform und die zu-verlässigen MAN Common Rail 1360 PS Motoren. Gerade die Tendergarage und die hydraulische Badeplattform waren bei der Elegance 64 so innova-tiv, dass zwischenzeitlich auch unsere anderen Modelle mit diesen beiden Features ausgestattet werden können. Der Vorteil dieser Kombination ist bei vielen Kunden der Verzicht auf einen Kran auf der Flybridge, da der Tender in der Garage ist und der Jetski über Chocks auf der Badeplattform befestigt werden kann.Nicht nur Beständiges wurde über-nommen, auch wurde im Angesicht des heutigen Geschmacks am Rumpf und am Aufbau einiges geändert und dem modernen Look der heutigen Zeit angepasst. Gerade beim Betrachten der Seitenlinie und der Fensterpartie sieht


man diesen modernen Einfluss beson-ders. Und wer in die Details geht, wird hier und da weitere Punkte entdecken, die optisch und funktional ein Highlight darstellen.Mit dem längeren und breiteren Rumpf gegenüber der Elegance 64 bietet die Elegance 68 ein deutlich komfortable-res Raumgefühl und unter Deck sogar 4-5 Kabinen und bei Bedarf eine Crew-kabine. So haben problemlos mindes-tens 8 Personen Platz auf der Elegance 68. Und das großzügig gestaltete Hard-top auf der Flybridge spendet Schatten und hält bei jedem Wetter, muss nicht eingerollt und verstaut werden.Auch bei der neuen Elegance 68 gilt wieder: Edelste Materialien und Stoffe wurden nach Kundenwunsch zusam-mengefügt, hochwertiges Interieur und technische Unterhaltungselektronik wurden verwendet und ergeben eine einmalige Yacht, die technisch und me-chanisch auf höchstem Niveau ausge-stattet ist.

Especially the inno-vative tender garage and the hydraulic bathing platform which have been such a great success on the Elegance 64 can be meanwhile also fitted in our other models. don’t need a crane on the fly bridge since the tender is stored in the gara-ge and the Jet Ski can be mounted on chocks on the bathing platform.We didn‘t simply copy the existing for-mula but also modified the hull and the superstructure in order to comply with a modern look adapted to today‘s tas-tes. Especially when you look at her si-de-line and the windows you will reco-gnize the modern influences. The one who will check the details will even find further features which can be con-sidered visual and functional highlights.The longer and wider hull of the Ele-gance 68 makes you actually feel the comfort and the difference in compa-rison to the Elegance 64. Furthermore she offers 4 – 5 cabins and if you like even a crew cabin is possible. So the Elegance 68 can easily accommodate at least 8 persons. The spaciously de-signed hardtop affords shadow, serves for all weather conditions and doesn‘t have to be rolled up and stowed like a bimini top.For the Elegance 68 also applies: Finest materials and fabrics have been com-bined in conformity with the client. Im Norden der Insel Mallorca befin-det sich S‘Albufera, das größte Na-turschutzgebiet auf Mallorca. Mit 32

km Durchmesser und zwischenzeitlich einer Fläche von 2850 Hektar bietet diese Lagune zwischen Alcudia und Can Picafort nicht nur über 270 Vogel-arten einen Nist- und Rastplatz, son-dern kann auch von jedermann täglich besichtigt und mit Fahrrädern befahren werden. Die S‘Albufera ist nicht zu ver-wechseln mit der kleinen Albufera bei Pollensa.Ein Besuch ist vor allem in den nicht

ganz so heißen Frühlings- und Herbst-monaten zu empfehlen und sollte mit gutem Schuhwerk und ausreichend Verpflegung in Angriff genommen wer-den. Wer die ‚Targeta Verda‘ besitzt, bekommt am Eingang die Möglichkeit, sich ein Fahrrad kostenlos zu leihen. Aber in der näheren Umgebung haben sich auch verschiedene Anbieter auf den Fahrradverleih spezialisiert. Hat man sich für eine Fortbewegungsart entschieden, stehen ab dem Eingangs-bereich, der an der Küstenstraße zwi-schen Alcudia und Can Picafort liegt,

mehrere Routen zur Auswahl, an denen man auch erhöhte Beobachtungsstatio-nen findet. Diese dienen nicht nur Or-nithologen und ihren Spektiven als An-laufpunkt. Man kann sich am Eingang gegen ein kleines Entgelt ein Fernglas leihen und sich von diesen Beobach-tungsstationen aus die Flora und Fauna des Gebietes näher anschauen.Was macht diesen Naturpark, welcher 1988 unter Naturschutz gestellt wurde, um ihn vor dem mallorquinischen Bau-boom zu schützen, so wertvoll? Die S‘Albufera dient unzähligen Vögeln


während des gesamten Jahres als Le-bensraum und Rückzugsgebiet. Eben-so nutzen viele Zugvögel während der Frühjahrs- und Herbstmonate dieses Gebiet als Zwischenstation und Rast-platz während ihrer langen Reise in den Süden bzw. in den Norden. So sind u.a. folgende Vögel dauerhaft im Ge-biet anzutreffen: Stockente, Blässhuhn, Teichralle, Zwergtaucher, Blaumeise, Zwergdommel, Stelzenläufer u.v.m. In den Wintermonaten sind es u.a. noch zusätzlich Kormorane, Graureiher und Pfeifenten. Als Zugvögel, die hier ledig-lich Rast machen, kann man folgende Arten in den entsprechenden Monaten anfinden: Flamingos, Nachtreiher, Wat-vögel, Strandläufer, Regenpfeifer, Wan-derfalken, Fischadler u.v.m.Aber auch andere Exemplare aus der Tierwelt lassen sich hier antreffen und kreuzen so manchen Weg. Darunter sind u.a. die ungiftige Vipernatter, ver-schiedene Schildkröten und Frösche, sowie in den Feuchtgebieten eine Viel-zahl von Fischarten.Während der Sommermonate wird dieses Feuchtgebiet eines verlandeten Sees teilweise mit Meerwasser be-wässert, so dass hier neben Pflanzen aus der Süßwasserwelt auch Binsen, Schilfrohr und viele weitere Arten aus Salzwassergebieten anzutreffen sind. In den restlichen Monaten wird die Bewässerung aus den verschiedenen Torrents und dem durch Regen voll-gesogenen Sumpfgebiet gewährleistet. Diese Mischung der Flora bietet in den verschiedenen Jahreszeiten auch ein

wunderbares farbliches Schauspiel.Das alles hört sich sehr nach Biologieunterricht an, aber wenn man ein-mal in der S‘Albufera ist und sich von der Ruhe und den visuellen Ein-drücken beflügeln lässt, so wird man sehr schnell in diese Welt gezogen, welche so gar nichts mit dem restlichen Mallor-ca gemeinsam hat. Da es keine Absperrungen,

aber etliche Kilometer an begehbaren und mit Fahrrädern befahrbaren We-gen gibt, ist hier an jeder Ecke etwas zu entdecken. Auch Kinder haben hier ihre helle Freude, da die S‘Albufera, wie ein großer Naturpark mit Zoo, Klettermög-lichkeiten und Entdeckungsmöglichkei-ten bietet. Außer dem Eingangsbereich und einem kleinen Museum gleich zu Beginn werden Sie keine fortschrittli-chen Einrichtungen auf der S‘Albufera vorfinden. So sind keine Toiletten oder Kioske, keine Automaten oder PKWs anzutreffen. Einfach nur Natur pur.Die S‘Albufera ist wohl der natürlichste und größte Wellness-Bereich auf Mal-lorca, in dem Sie Körper, Geist und Seele baumeln lassen können.

Once you have decided which kind of movement you prefer, you will find several tracks to choose from - all starting at the main entrance which is situated at the coas-tal highway between Alcudia and Can Picafort. There you will find raised ob-servation posts which are not only re-served for ornithologists and their field glasses. At the entrance you can lend one for a small fee and take the advan-tage to view the flora and fauna from the observation points.What makes this natural park, which was put under conservation in 1988 in order to preserve it from the Major-can construction boom, so valuable? The S‘Albufera serves an innumerable amount of birds as a habitat and area of retreat. Also the migratory birds take advantage of this as an intermediate stop, i.e. for a rest on their long trip to the South or the North. The following types of birds can be found permanent-ly in this area: mallards, coots, common moorhens, little grebes, blue tits, little bitterns, black-winged stilts and many others. During winter time you will also find cormorants, grey herons and widgeons there. The following migrato-


ry birds can temporarily be seen there in the respective months: Flamingos, black-crowned night herons, wading birds, sandpipers, killdeers, peregrine falcons, ospreys and many others.There are also other species of the fau-na which might cross your path. As the-re is the nontoxic Natrix Maura (a vi-perine water snake), various turtles and frogs as well as numerous fish species which can be found in the marshes.During the summer months these mar-shes of silt up lake are partly irrigated with sea water, so that you will also find bulrush, reed and many other kinds of sea water plants besides the sweet wa-ter plants. During the rest of the months irrigation is provided by the various tor-rents and the swamp sopped by the rainwater. Anstatt die neue Horizon Ele-gance 97 RPH (raised pilot house) namens ‚Pacific Lady‘

mit einem Frachtschiff transportieren zu lassen, entschieden die Eigner, sie auf eigenem Kiel an ihren Bestimmungsort zu fahren – eine 5.500 Seemeilen lan-ge Reise von Kaohsiung, Taiwan nach Auckland, Neuseeland. Egal wo sie einen Zwischenstopp einlegte – Subic Bay auf den Philippinen, Palau, Rabul in Papua Neuguinea und Vanuatu – die wunderschöne Erscheinung der ‚Pacific Lady‘ zog stets alle Blicke auf sich.Für den ersten Streckenabschnitt der Lieferung der ‚Pacific Lady‘ schickte Horizon ein Trio ihres ‚Horizon On-board Service Teams‘ zur Unterstüt-zung der Kapitäne Gary Thomas und John Albert Pool mit auf die Reise nach Subic Bay, um ihnen jede mögliche Unterstützung für die allererste Über-fahrt zu bieten. Dieses Mal bestand das Team aus Lawrence Lim, Business Ma-nager, Hung I-Hsuan, Elektriker und Ho Tung-Han, Mechaniker.Nach allen Inspektionen und Abwick-lung der taiwanesischen Zollmodalitä-

ten war es um 11:00 Uhr am 11. Februar 2009, als die ‚Pacific Lady‘ den Hafen von Kaohsiung verlies und ihre erste Fahrt antrat. Alle 7 Besatzungsmitglie-der an Bord waren froh und aufgeregt wegen des Trips und glücklicherweise schufen das gute Wetter und der ruhi-ge Ozean perfekte Bedingungen für die Überfahrt vorbei an der Luzon Insel-gruppe direkt hinunter in die südchine-sische See bis zur Ankunft in der Subic Bay am 2. Tag.Am 12. Februar, als sich die ‚Pacific Lady‘ der Subic Bay näherte, wurde der Himmel plötzlich schwarz. Es bil-deten sich schwarze Wolken und es sah so aus, als ob es gleich zu Regnen beginnt. Während das Schiff für einen möglichen Sturm präpariert wurde be-

schloss die Mannschaft, abwechselnd die ganze Nacht Wache am Ruder zu halten, um sofort bei brenzligen Situ-ationen reagieren zu können. Glückli-cherweise war das schlechteste Wetter, was die an Deck Gebliebenen erwar-tete ein leichter Regen und schließlich konnte die gesamte Mannschaft eine Weile ausruhen.Die ‚Pacific Lady‘ kam am 13. Februar um 09:00 Uhr im Subic Bay Yacht Club an, nachdem sie 2 Tage und ca. 550 Seemeilen gebraucht hatte, um den ersten Halt zu erreichen.In Subic Bay angekommen, war die Horizon Mannschaft überrascht, dass die ‚Pacific Lady‘ einen Platz neben einem älteren Modell - einer Horizon 49 - zugewiesen bekam. Diese wurde


um 1993 gebaut und für ihren Besitzer nach Hong Kong verschifft, der sie spä-ter an einen neuen Eigner in Subic Bay verkaufte. Der Horizon Mannschaft ge-fiel es, dass diese 16 Jahre alte Yacht noch so gut aussah, so dass sie Fotos schoss, um den Augenblick festzuhal-ten. Nachdem die erste lange Passage ohne Zwischenfälle verlief und sie ihre Arbeit beendet hatte, genoss die Hori-zon Mannschaft die Gastfreundlichkeit, die lokalen Speisen und das wunder-bare Meerespanorama im Subic Bay Yacht Club. Sie wünschten der ‚Pacific Lady‘ und ihrer Mannschaft Lebewohl und flogen zurück nach Taiwan.Wieder aufgetankt, fuhr die ‚Pacific Lady‘ in der Subic Bay ab und setz-te ihre Fahrt in ihren Heimathafen in Neuseeland fort. Das Horizon Trio war glücklich, die ‚Pacific Lady‘ auf ihrer ersten Reise begleitet zu haben und Horizon glaubt, dass sie mit ihrem Eig-ner noch viele Abenteuer in den kom-menden Jahren erleben wird.Los! ‚Pacific Lady‘!

Instead of being transported by a cargo ship, the owners of a new Ho-rizon Elegance 97 Raised Pilothouse

named ‚Pacific Lady‘, decided to send her home on her own bottom - a 5,500 nautical-mile journey from Kaohsiung,

Taiwan to Auckland, New Zealand. During the memorable trip, she ancho-red in a number of countries along the way. No matter where she stopped - Subic Bay in the Philippines, Palau, Ra-bul in Papua New Guinea and Vanuatu –‘ Pacific Lady‘s‘ beautiful figure attrac-ted attention.For the first log of ‚Pacific Lady‘s‘ de-livery, Horizon sent its trio team „Ho-rizon Onboard Service Team“ to join Captain Gary Thomas Foster and John Albert Pool on the trip to Subic Bay to provide any assistance during the very first passage. This time the trio team from Horizon included Lawrence Lim, business manager, Hung I-Hsuan, elec-trician, and Ho Tung-Han, mechanic.After all inspections and undergoing Taiwan‘s Customs procedures, it was 11 a.m. on February 11, 2009, when ‚Pa-cific Lady‘ left Kaohsiung Harbor and began her first cruise. All seven crew members onboard were pleased and excited about this trip and luckily the fine weather and peaceful ocean con-ditions supplied perfect cruising across the Luzon Straight and down the South China Sea until the arrival in Subic Bay on the second day.On February 12, when ‚Pacific Lady‘ neared Subic Bay, the skies were becoming dark. Black clouds gathe-red and it seemed a heavy rain would be coming. While pre-paring the yacht for a possible storm, the crew decided to take turns standing watch at the helm all night to notice any emergent occasions happening. Fortunately for those on deck, the worst weather encountered was a light rain and all crew could finally rest for a while.‚Pacific Lady‘ arrived at Subic Bay Yacht Club at 9 a.m. on Feb-

ruary 13, having spent two days sailing about 550 nautical miles to reach the first stop.In Subic Bay, the Horizon crew was sur-prised to find ‚Pacific Lady‘ had been given a slip near an early model - a Ho-rizon 49!. She was built around 1993 and shipped to her owner in Hong Kong, who later sold her to a new ow-ner in Subic Bay. The Horizon crew enjoyed seeing this 16-year-old yacht looking so good that they took pictures of her to record the moment. With the first long passage completed without incident, and their work complete, the Horizon crew enjoyed the hospitality, local food and stunning seascapes at the Subic Bay Yacht Club. They bid fa-rewell to ‚Pacific Lady‘ and her perma-nent crew and flew back to Taiwan.Refueled, ‚Pacific Lady‘ departed Subic Bay and continued her journey to her homeport in New Zealand. The Hori-zon trio team was happy to accompany ‚Pacific Lady‘ on her first voyage and Horizon believes she will enjoy many adventures with her owner in years to come. Go! ‚Pacific Lady‘!
